Just went for a walk downtown… it is MUGGY, saw dew point was 76… sheesh
Not often you see temps in the mid 80s with a 100 degree heat index.
Lots of energy out there, be safe!

Hello, we have a trip planned for Fredericksburg Tx this weekend, however we keep on seeing the news alerts of flooding. Should we cancel the trip or how is the weather?

Northern Ohio weather experts is winding up people about major potential for tornadic weather activity on Saturday.. but…I don’t see any concern on NWS storm prediction…
\**edit****
I didn’t write this- I copied the very obvious CHATGTP post they made.
They did post models from pivotal weather to support thier thoughts
I chose not to share those because I don’t know how to read them properly and didn’t want to add to confusion if they are BS.
Can someone with a brain I trust chime in on this ..
“🌪️🔥 SATURDAY… Yeah, I’m officially concerned.
The atmosphere is cooking up something spicy for Saturday afternoon and evening, and the ingredients are starting to look straight‑up hostile.
Let’s nerd out.
INSTABILITY: OFF THE CHARTS
We’re talking CAPE between 3,200–4,200 J/kg, that’s explosive storm fuel.
This is the kind of energy where storms don’t just form… they launch.
Weak capping? ✔️
Steep mid‑level lapse rates? ✔️
Translation: big hail cores and aggressive updrafts that can support rotating storms.
🌪️ THE SHEAR + CRITICAL ANGLE COMBO… YIKES
This is the part that’s making me raise an eyebrow.
The model sounding is basically yelling:
“HEY. TORNADO POTENTIAL. PAY ATTENTION.”
And if you look at the bottom right of the sounding?
That TOR hazard isn’t decoration, it’s the tornado flag.
SARS ANALOGS: 41% TORNADO MATCH
This is wild.
SARS compares Saturdays atmosphere to past severe events, and right now it’s saying:
41% match to past tornado environments
Atmosphere resembles setups that have produced tornadoes in our region before
That’s not hype, that’s data.
EF2 POTENTIAL??
I hate saying this early… but there are hints of EF2‑level tornado potential in the analogs and parameters.
Not a prediction.
Not a guarantee.
Just an honest read of what the atmosphere is showing right now.
And you all know me, things can and will change.
I’m hoping we trend toward a much more stable environment as we get closer.
But as of this moment?
Saturday deserves your attention.”
The maps they posted show north side of columbus being a concerned area..

I just looked at the NOAA map for the drift of the Canadian wildfire smoke referenced in this NYT article. Is this going to reach us?

Checking the forecast and seeing all week pushing 100° again no chance of storms but I feel like I’ve heard no one talking about it? No heat advisory or warning? Will this be as bad as two weeks ago or what should we expect? I’m not ready for more of this awful heat 😓

Please be weather aware!

My birthdays tomorrow and the only activities I want to do involve being outdoors , pool day , picnic , kayaking.
I’m not great at looking at the weather app and understanding it. It says 80% but then the hourly totals say 20% and I still don’t understand what that means in terms of disruptive pool weather.
Thanks so much in advance! You guys are awesome.
We got excellent rain June 18th. Is that the last good rain we have had? In typical Columbus fashion, it seems like forecasts for rain always seem to never materialize this time of year. Thoughts on this weekend? Asking for my garden. TIA!

Scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon into the evening, with the greatest coverage generally along and north of I-70. Storms may produce damaging winds and will likely contain heavy rainfall, leading to reduced visibility and localized flooding.

Has anyone taken a look at the storms that are supposed to come through on Saturday? Trying to get a sense of timing and severity and don’t trust my apps!

This equates to minus temps in winter, but at least in winter I can bundle up, in this crap you can take off all your clothes and still swelter! Inside I can wear more layers in winter, if your ac isn’t strong, you can’t move inside without sweating in this oven!
