PREVIOUS PASSERS - ADVICE ON THIS FINAL WEEK?

Helllloooo! I'm a 3rd time retaker and I can confidently say my MBE scores and the way I prepped this time have made a difference and for once i actually feel okay going into this exam in comparison to the previous 2 where i had constant anxiety attacks leading up to the exam, and during the exam. I've dedicated this week to only practice essays and MBE's and memorizing and slowly tapering this down as the exam days get closer.

But I wanted to ask all the passers - what's your best advice for this final week? Continue practicing? Memorize only? I plan to make Sunday my very last study day

How much memory will adrenaline help you recall?

Above. Former takers, does the adrenaline rush help you recall? Obviously things we’ve studied but can’t for the life us seem to recall.

In general, what is the effect of adrenaline?

CA Civ Pro…?

Are we….are we actually learning CA civ pro distinctions are we winging it because like……I don’t think my brain can handle more information. CA Evidence has been difficult enough and I barely have a handful of those distinctions down. What’s the consensus?

July 2026 question about watches

Apologies for the slightly silly question, but I really don't want to risk anything in bringing my analog watch. So, they say it has to be "silent." Does this mean the watch can't have the ticking sounds that nearly all analog watches do?

Has studying turned my brain into this neurotic nitpicking nerd?! (most likely yes).

July 2026 How do you organize your PT before you start writing?

Upvotes

I've realized my biggest PT weakness isn't the law, it's organization

I keep taking notes by case/rule as I read the Library instead of organizing everything by issue...

Then when I start writing, I'm constantly flipping back and forth between the File and Library trying to figure out where everything belongs. I end up leaving good arguments out and making dumb factual mistakes.

For anyone that does not have PT in the red/yellow zone: Do you outline before writing? If so, how? Do you read the Library first or the File first? How do you quickly turn the authorities into issue headings instead of case summaries?

I really don't have this problem with Essays, for example. Even though I don't remember half of the blackletter rules, I find myself a way to address the issues in the fact patterns somewhat organized. I need something that clicks me. Any advise?

Incapable of finishing CPT on time. How worried should I be?

I’ve taken 10 full CPTs over the course of the summer. I’ve only finished *one* within 90 minutes. All others have been an avg of 15 mins over time. Worst one was 30 mins over. No matter how much I practice, change up my technique, or read Mary Basick’s book, nothing seems to actually change when I sit down to answer damn question.

My question is: How worried should I be at this point about needing so much extra time to finish the CPT? And is it even worth trying to practice any more at this point?

I’ve seen people say “oh, taking extra time on the CPT is fine, just write your next essays in 45 mins!” Bold of you to assume I can write even a normal essay that quickly. I can reliably finish every essay topic (except maybe the beefier Con Law & Crim Pro ones) in 60 mins. But 45? I’d miss analysis for sure. But maybe it’s worth losing points on the essays if I nail the CPT?

Idk, please help me decide whether I need to practice CPT more 😭 if I go 30 mins over on the actual bar, I think I’ll cry and just log off.

July 2026 Silly question - but all the essays are different right?

I know there’s some cross over essays but we shouldn’t expect three con law essays or something, correct? Each essay is a different topic?

July 2026 Does anyone have a list of all the past Evidence essays where they asked for CA distinctions?

Thank you

Edit: also if there’s a list of the Civ Pro essays with CA distinctions that would be clutch

Are they weird about the type of jacket you wear?

Could I wear a puffy cozy sherpa jacket or will they be freaks about it? I tried to wear it to the mpre and they made me take it off.

July 2026 Themis Questions Easier Than Adaptibar?

Upvotes

Is this normal? Or is my Adaptibar algorithm just insane right now.

Scored a 78% and 86% on 2 practice sets today on Themis.

Ranging from 66-75% on Adaptibar.

I’ve done approximately 3100 questions across both platforms, I plan on getting another 200 or so in before exam day.

Next steps?

I have been studying since February of this year, but I'm still not sure if I'm ready for this exam. I have studied as hard as I possibly could, taking into account my circumstances: English is not my first language, I did not attend law school in the US, I worked FT for much of my preparation, I have two young children, and I am currently caring for my mother. I truly believe I would be in a much better position to take the exam in February 2027. At the same time, I can't tell whether this is just procrastination and fear speaking, or whether it's a genuine gut feeling that I should trust... Any thoughts?

DCC - Con Law Question

I understand when to use/bring up DCC, but I am getting so confused regarding the test applied for facially-discriminatory regulations and those that are facially-neutral with a discriminatory effect or purpose. From my understanding, facial discrimination is subject to strict scrutiny (important gov. interest with no alternative means) and facially neutral is subject to the unduly burdensome test (benefit of the state > burden on commerce). Is this correct or am I combining facially neutral with unduly burdensome when they should be two distinct concepts?
