My two girls are no longer with us unfortunately, the blue and white one was Betty (named after Betty white as when we first got her she didn’t have much blue), the yellow and white was chicken salt (as the sheer yellow looked as if hot chips were sprinkled with chicken salt). My boy is still with me and will be my last budgie, his name is butter stick (for obvious reasons).

I miss my girls but I see them in their brother and I hope for infinite millet sprays where they are :).

Hi guys. I have inherited two birds from my old neighbour, one lovebird and one budgie.

I’ve been told both those species must be with family . So I adopted this green cutie to give compagny to the white one.

I am still waiting for a male Fischer lovebird for company for the lonely one.

Names options would be greatly appreciated as I have three (soon four) roommates without names !

Zazu and Frost would not stop squawking at me while they waited in their carrier for me to clean their cage. The cage is new (powder coated) because the previous one got rusty. Cleaned the perches (F10 followed by Dawn Soap and Vinegar) and put new toys. Very happy to see them happy <3 Happy Wednesday everyone. May something good happen to you all today! So i moved to a new room, specifically because this new one also has another room attached. I’ll be planning for my bird to have the cage, and the whole entire second room. But what do I fill it with?

I adopted a beautiful female budgie from a shelter a couple days ago and she is the sweetest thing. I got her so many toys, natural perches, foraging toys, an outside of the cage playground and she’s having none of it. All she wants to do is watch outside the window, cuddle and nap on my shoulder (in the afternoon when she gets tired not all day long).

It’s obviously amazing and I’m grateful but I can’t just carry her everywhere in my appartement with me because it’s not entirely bird proofed yet. She doesn’t wanna leave my side or go back to her cage all day long. They told me she was probably hand fed and I guess she’s used to be out all day as well.

I will eventually get her a friend but for the time being how can I put boundaries or get her to play with her multiple toys for entertainment? When I’m not in the room with her she gets so bored and it makes me sad to not be there all day.

Is this a boy or a girl ?

We've recently got this baby budgie, we've had him* for roughly 5 months, and we thought we got a boy, but some are saying it's a girl bird.

We're just to know depending on the colour of his* cere.

The first two photos are recent, and the last photo is when we got him.

I cant find his spicies anywhere the closest i found is a turqooise budgie.So to any turqouise budgie owner did your budgie look like this when it was young

Not too sure how to tell the age and sex of lutino budgies. I just got this little lemon blob, Tatl (named after the LoZ fairy), from the pet store.

I'm thinking male but I'm not too sure. I have another much older male budgie. So, I'm hoping the two beans get along :>

I’ve been feeding my budgies this in addition to fresh veggies, they seem to love it and seem to be healthy. It’s like 70% pellet, 20% zupreem fun mix, and 10% of the protein food. I mix it and measure it all in an airtight container.

It’s been a while since I got high quality photos of the birbs. Zeb looking old and grumpy as always. Yatari is hard to get good pics of cuz she does not like the camera >.< Horus thankfully doesn’t mind it! He poses very well ❤️❤️❤️❤️

The birds don’t stink and the house is very clean, but my husband brought home a stinky puppy( she’s clean and bathed, it’s just a “ doggy” smell) and I feel uncomfortable with people coming into our house right now as I‘m super weird about smells lol. Anybody know of ways other than candles and air fresheners to make the house smell good without harming my precious birds? Thanks🐦

I have two budgies, both boys. One is definitely a year old and I’m not sure the age of the other but he’s definitely older than a year. My budgies usually get about 2 tbsp of pellets, 2 tsp of seeds, and sometimes some freeze dried vegetable pieces all mixed together. Sometimes I sprinkle Harrison’s flora and fauna powder on their food, and every day they get some kind of fresh vegetable, always arugula and cilantro, sometimes broccoli, corn, or cucumber etc. They get millet very very rarely.
They have a fresh running water fountain and all of the toys I can fit in their fly cage.
The problem is, they barely eat any of the pellets. I throw out the food they don’t eat every day and give them fresh everything. But I feel like it’s always pellets left over and almost all of the seeds gone. How do I deal with this without starving them? I’m afraid if I just give them pellets they won’t eat them and end up fighting with each other or hating me. I am sad to think of them feeling hungry. Help!

Like many of you, I’ve spent way too much time in pet store aisles feeling frustrated by the quality of bird toys. So much of what’s on the market relies on cheap cotton rope (impaction hazards), questionable metals, or plastic components that my bird shatters in two minutes.

Over the past few months, I’ve been researching and prototyping safe, all-natural enrichment options focused entirely on functional foraging and shredding— prioritizing 100% chrome-free vegetable-tanned leather, heavy-duty stainless steel quick-links, untreated hardwoods, loofah, and seagrass.

I’m taking my time testing materials, refining sizes for everything from cockatiels to giant macaws, and perfecting designs that can easily be refilled with new shredding material rather than tossed out.
I’d love to hear from this community:

1. What is your biggest pet peeve with commercial bird toys right now?

2. What types of toys or materials does your bird go crazy for that are hard to find?

3. If you could design the ultimate safe, refillable foraging toy, what features would it have?
