Homeowners Insurance
I’m purchasing a home in Pisgah Forest and am looking for suggestions on homeowners insurance and/or local brokers to shop insurance for me.
It’s in a densely wooded area and I’d prefer to work with a more local agency that knows the area. I’ve heard the ‘big guys’ will just look at a satellite photo and increase rates based on tree coverage.
Thanks!

Does Tin Roof Pizza still exist? If so, where do I find its location? Thanks!

Flock Cameras used by Cops to Stalk Women
Another reason to resist Flock AI cameras being seen as normal. They don’t make us safer. They make us easier to track.

Reckless driver and flock
Watch for reckless driver in new red Jeep Cherokee around Lowe's Brevard. Almost killed 4 people in the parking lot. White male driver solo with NC plates.
Official reports have been filed. Was told "we can't use flock camera data unless a car is damaged". So again I ask, what good are they in our daily lives?

Do you folks have any memories/stories/photos of Oliver Byrd? He was my grandpa's uncle and as part of my Genealogy research I was just discovering how he was a well respected caretaker of Camp Illahee for a long time. Have a good day!

Nurseries with emphasis on native plants
Anyone have any suggestions for a nursery that sells native plants. New Leaf was the go-to place for natives, but they went out of business.

Does anyone know what platform I can sell my handless Momcozy breast pump? It’s brand new & I don’t use it, it was very expensive and I don’t want it to just collect dust.

How AI is Reshaping US Electricity Rates
Interesting article & maps from Esri regarding the connections between AI & our rising electricity costs.
“The scale of modern data center energy use is reshaping utility load profiles across the country.
For example, in an area stretching from North Carolina to Pennsylvania to Michigan that is served by one regional transmission organization, the PJM Interconnection, data center demand has become a dominant source of new load growth. This has prompted significant investments in generation, transmission, and distribution infrastructure. Recent results from PJM capacity auctions, which ensure that enough electricity is available for future demand, reflect tightening supply relative to demand, signaling upward pressure on future electricity costs.”

Update on flock cameras
At today's Transylvania County Commissioners meeting, Sheriff Chuck Owenby discussed the flock cameras. He said they are pivotal in their functioning. It was implied that the cameras aren't there to watch us, good citizens, but to find sex traffickers and stolen cars.
The cameras are also in more locations than the traditional black pole ones easily identified. Tonight, I learned they are also in the electric speed signs.
I also learned that we are paying for these cameras and a subscription to the flock database. This is being done while, as the sheriff said tonight, the sherrif officers aren't being paid an acceptable wage.
Food for thought.
Please feel free to watch the recording. The sheriff spoke within the first 30 minutes.

Flock cameras in Brevard
I saw a recent post that was taken down about Flock cameras in Transylvania County, NC. I'd like to help raise the awareness:
2 in Lowes parking lot
1 in Pisgah Forest near Sycamore Flats (on the left as you enter the forest)
1 on hwy64 (on the left toward Etowah)
Here is the sauce:

Edit: Thanks to everyone sharing more info about the Flock cameras. Im glad to see many of you share the same concerns as I do. Knowledge is power, and we need to stay aware so we can hopefully let our representatives know what we think of all this in order to enact meaningful change. A pipe dream, I know!
