Clothing

Hi everyone!

Just reaching out because I did this during Covid when my mom was sick!! I sold clothing and shoes that people donated to me for auction on whatnot!

I have Crohn’s disease and even though I have an amazing business grooming dogs & cats- I have days where I cannot work or am hospitalized. To supplement my lost income—— I sell on what not! I pick up anything and everything (any size, gender, kids etc)

Thank you for considering ❤️

Here’s my whatnot referral code for anyone who wants $25 dollars! https://whatnot.com/invite/julper

Things to do around the Central branch of Boston Public Library?

I live in Fall River, and have been taking advantage of the free fare commuter rail Fridays to do stuff in Boston.

I booked a tour of the BPL a few weeks from now, and I'm looking for other affordable things to do, and places to eat in that area.

I have pretty limited knowledge of the city, so hoping for recommendations! Any must see/do things?

Thanks in advance!

Signed a lease — membership pottery studio coming to Belmont (update from the Southie post)

Some months ago, I posted here asking whether people would actually use a membership-based pottery studio in South Boston.

That site did not ultimately come together (turns out its very hard to find a suitable site!), and I restarted the search. After looking across Greater Boston and MetroWest, I’ve now signed a lease for Firebox Pottery Studio in Belmont.

Based on your feedback, Firebox will offer:

• Open studio memberships
• Wheel-throwing and handbuilding classes
• Workshops and community events
• Kiln access and firing services
• Space for both newer potters and independent makers

I'm currently planning the first class schedule, membership access, and launch programming. The site is still coming together, but class and membership interest forms are open: www.fireboxpotterystudio.com

If you've ever wished a studio did something differently (scheduling, access, pricing, anything else) I'd love to hear it. This is the rare window where that input actually shapes what gets built.

I'm also glad to hear from local ceramic artists interested in teaching classes or workshops.

Guy who returned my phone in Brookline (Saturday)

I'm hoping you see this. Today this good Samaritan saw my phone laying in the road in Brookline. It has started to rain so he picked it up. He went through the effort of searching through my phone to find my number and call it. It gets even better. He drives over and brings me my phone. I was really in shock and had just worked out. I thanked him but in the moment totally flaked on offering him a reward. The minute he drove off I realized what happened. If you see this please call me. I want to show my thanks.

Pats/Broncos game, NYE, and Jan in Boston: Need Advice

Hi all! My husband and I are traveling to Boston for the second time to celebrate his grad school graduation. The first time we came to Boston was last November, and we stayed outside of the city in Concord. As a result, we didn't get to see much of the city.

This time, we plan to stay in the city itself. We have tickets to see Pats v Broncos, which will take place on the 2nd or the 3rd. So, the plan is to fly in for NYE and stay at least until the 4th or so.

I'm looking for all the tips you have:

-Weather: What's the best way to layer? What should I invest in, considering we'll be outside for long periods of time?

-NYE: What are the best activities? We're not big in the party scene. I thought First Night seemed cool, and I feel like I've seen where you can view the fireworks from boat rides?

-Food: Where should we eat? We're not picky! We do want to make sure to hit up a good Italian place (one local I spoke to recently suggested Trattoria II Panino). I think my husband is interested in oysters or clams at some point.

-Bars: We like an adult beverage, but we don't like the "club" type of vibe. We loved visiting the Sam Adams pub last time.

-Things to do: My husband loves aquariums, so I thought about that. We both love history, and I love exploring neat neighborhoods.

-The game itself: for you fellow Pats fans out there, what's the best way to get back in the city? We Ubered last time, and it was a nightmare. Also, what are the essentials for warmth?

-Desert: I'm a desert girlie. If I'm on vacation, I'm having a sweet treat every day. What should I be on the lookout for?

Honestly, we're not hard to impress. We basically only got to explore Faneuil Hall, Sam's Adam pub, and the Boston Tea Party museum last time, but we had the best time! I'm excited for all the recommendations!

Hi everyone! a temporary resident in Boston but a lifelong fan of this amazing city here! I am currently on a research project funded by my college studying Boston's historic spirit in politics and civic action and how that has translated to the culture today. If you have a few minutes to spare to fill out this anonymous survey it would absolutely mean the world to me and my progress on this study!

Fill out the survey here: https://forms.gle/9GvEPzXTYpgWmE7Z6

If anyone has any additional questions for me, constructive criticism or additional ideas for my survey or research it is also extremely welcomed!

Thanks :-)

Ridiculous T-Shirt Meetup

**I had a dumb idea so I'm hosting a Ridiculous T-Shirt Social at Cambridge Common next Saturday**

Basically: wear the funniest, weirdest, most cursed, or most confusing T-shirt you own and come hang out with random people.

We're meeting at Cambridge Common on **Saturday, July 18 at 4 PM**. Bring friends, blankets/chairs, lawn games, frisbees, balls, snacks, etc.

The entire idea is just to create a low-pressure excuse for people around Boston/Cambridge/Somerville to meet new people and laugh at terrible shirts.

Free and open to everyone. Just don't be an asshole — no harassment, bullying, discrimination, or genuinely hateful shirts.

**Absolutely no normal shirts.**

RSVP / details here:

The men in this truck harassed me for half a mile.

Post image
81 Upvotes

There were 3-4 young/college-aged white men in this truck who, among other things, called me a whore, told me to suck dicks, and velled that they hoped I fell. They carried on laughing and jeering at me for about half a mile.

I was just riding a bike up Washington St in Rozzie, heading towards Forest Hills. I had not cut them off or inconvenienced them in anyway. The driver kept pace with me so his buddies could lean out the window hurling obscenities at me; they pulled away when I lost my phone and pulled over to pick it up. I was able to get this picture a few minutes later when I pulled *back* over to have a panic attack; they happened to be on the same street. Parked illegally, because of course they were lol

I'm a 26 year old woman. I'm used to harassment and catcalls, they happen all the time. But it's been a LONG time since an incident got to me like this one. Usually, I yell back, and the guy(s) leave.

This was identity-based harassment meant to intimidate me for existing as a woman. And as a cyclist (or really as a fellow driver), it's incredibly dangerous behavior on their part.

And before any chuds ask questions about what I was wearing, I was wearing the baggiest, most shapeless dress in my closet bc it's perfect for hot sunnv davs like this. Not see-through, and no indication of any curves I may or may not have. This was a power trip by men in a two-ton vehicle who thought harassing a woman minding her business made them big.

My 17 year old son is flying solo into BOS on Saturday, July 11 and lands around 4pm. I’ve heard there is a 250the celebration and the Sail Boston parade is going to cause major traffic delays. Any info on the shuttle from Plymouth and Brockton St to the Hyannis Transportation Center is appreciated.
