Hi. I'm passionate about books. Actually, I'm interested in many areas of art, especially books and films. I'm looking for someone to talk to about world literature. Everyone knows Tolstoy, Jack London, etc. It would be nice if they could recommend books that are well-known locally in their own country but aren't popular internationally, so I can learn about different cultures and lives through reading.
Why do we read books?
There are many reasons, but I think the most important one is to read about lives we may never live and gain different experiences and perspectives.
Why I love reading books?
Because it helps me keep my mind under control and relaxes me.
favorite authors:
Gogol
Edgar Allan Poe
Kafka
James Joyce
Neil Gaiman
Umberto Eco
John Milton
Films:
Possesion
The prestige
Mulholland drive
Dancer in the dark
El secreto de sus ojos
Me

Dark hair
Green eyes

Looking for gentle souls who love to waddle through the quiet miseries of human existence, as if there isn't enough already;
Like John Williams' Stoner, who suffered from the day he was born till the day he died, in love, in teaching, in fatherhood, but not without experiencing a better world far away from Edith's clutches, in the arms of Katherine and literature.
Or the rise and fall of the matriarch of Parambil and the testament of a mother's love in Abraham Varghese's Covenant of Water,
Or my favorite character of all, the Convenience Store Woman,
I've just started walking alongside Victoria and the twins in Kent Karuf's Plainsong, and it looks like I will have to read all three books now; appreciate any company in this,
And also with Babra's Demon - sadly funny or funnily sad,
If anyone wants to traverse this gloomy corner of the literary universe, welcome ... It might be fun to suffer together.
Flexible in the flavor of the misery, but misery there must be, enough in quality and quantity for any picks.

hello! i'm looking for a FEMALE accountability buddy so we can mutually support each other in committing to our goals :) i'd prefer if we shared similar interests or goals that we'd like to achieve, because i'm actually hoping we can do some of these activities together from time to time!!
the things i'd like to work towards are:
basically, an accountability buddy keeps the other person in check and helps monitor each other's progress!! we update each other on how we're doing, celebrate our little milestones together, and encourage one another along the way. however, if we don't hit our goals, i hope we can also extend ourselves grace, empathize with each other, and navigate those struggles together instead of feeling guilty.
i think it'd also be nice if we set S.M.A.R.T. goals HAHAHA so everything feels realistic and achievable.
since most of my goals revolve around creative hobbies like reading, journaling, or watching films, i'd love if we could actually do some of them together! maybe we could buddy read books (of course not all, since we probably have different tastes), share little excerpts from our journals if we're comfortable, buddy watch films or shows, or even go bookstore hopping together and shop for books or journal supplies 😭🤍
i imagine our progress updates being more than just "i finished today's task." i'd love for us to actually share our thoughts on the media we're consuming — whether it's a book, film, or tv show. we could talk about what stood out to us, what emotions it stirred, our analyses, favorite quotes, little annotations... things like that. i think that's such a beautiful way to stay accountable while also connecting with each other.
i'm looking for someone who's comfortable with being vulnerable and opening up. tell me why this book means so much to you. tell me why this film made you cry. tell me why you've been struggling to complete a certain goal lately. i care just as much about the journey as i do the outcome!!
more than anything, i just want to live my life by embracing the full spectrum of what it has to offer, and by appreciating the vastness and vivacity that art brings into it. i really miss being sentimental and artistic, feeling things deeply, and reconnecting with myself through stories, writing, films, and all the little beautiful things that make life feel fuller.
so... i decided to make this post :"))
if this sounds like something you'd enjoy too, please reach out!! i'd genuinely love to get to know you, support your goals, and hopefully grow alongside each other. thank you!! 🌷🤍 FEMALES ONLY!!

I am looking for a smut buddy read girl. I want to read Untamed (Beneath the Reign #1) by Luna Mason. It was just published in Apr 2026 and already has over 5,000 reviews and 59% of those are 5-stars. Romance.io has the spice rating at 4/5. After that I would prefer if we would keep reading smut. It can be a spice level of anywhere between 1-5.
A couple of my favorite smut reads is Den of Vipers and His Tesoro.
Any takers? I don't care age level, but you should be mature and you must be female.

Hi this is the first year I set a reading goal which was for 50 books and have read 27 so far but have been in a little slump recently and would like to have some to read with and maybe get me out of it.
I mostly read romantasy and historical fiction but am always down to expand.

Im 21 and wanted to discuss books and recommendations! I’d love to learn about someone’s favourites and why those books are special to them too :)
I’m currently super keen on darker, sad and depressing books such as a little life and a thousand splendid suns!
r/Book_Buddies • u/Unlikely_War_7123 • 1d ago
Let’s chat about what we think on a book.
I am seeking for a book partner. Someone who stays with me without giving too much.
I love to read fiction, nonfiction both.
I usually like mystery.
Well, I am open to genre as well.
If it sounds like a match, let’s connect.
Otherwise good day.

Hello all!
I’m hoping to find some reading buddies who would be interested in buddy reading or very small groups! I like romance, fantasy, horror, sci-fi, etc.
Some of my favorite books are
Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut
Emily wilde’s encyclopedia of faries by heather fawcett
Dungeon crawler Carl by Matt dinnamon
I’m currently reading between two fires and listening to the road to jones town.
My tbr is extremely long but high on it are:
The seventh bride by T KingFisher
The sword of Kaigen by M.L.Wang
The exquisite torment of loving your enemy
The poison Wood Bible
Whalefall
The salt that grows heavy
The natural history of dragons series
And many many more. I can share my goodreads or StoryGraph if you want for helping in selecting books.
I also read fanfiction on occasion, especially in the Harry Potter fandom (a lot of dramione or sirmione)
Outside of reading, I am typically busy with grad school or on occasion crafting. But I typically can finish 50 to 100 books a year. And so while there are some slow seasons for reading I can squeeze them in most of the time.
I do think books and reading is political and will engage critically with some books or themes so would like someone who is open to that!

hello there, I’m currently in my summer break reading a few books as I’ve had plenty of free time. I’m looking for someone to read with and discuss as we move on.
I have an interest in horror and mystery/crime, and my favourite books are The Shining by Stephen King and And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie.
I just recently started Cujo by Stephen King, if anyone wants to join along for this book and future books, let me know ^^
Preferably around my age range, 18-24

Hey guys,
We have a book club on fable where we read 1-2 books a month so if you're interested to join please DM or drop a comment and I'll send you the link
r/Book_Buddies • u/ButterscotchSundays • 2d ago
I don’t have many people to discuss or read books with. I am part of some discord groups and have a book club which is nice but I would like to look for someone to chat with books directly. Preferably someone 21+ who is in a similar time zone, mine is PST.
I mainly read horror, thrillers, fantasy, and mystery. I do have an interest in reading more classics. I read anywhere from 3-5 books at a time. I have a hold for The God of the Woods coming up soon so that will probably be my newest book.
I am totally okay with voice calls on discord if I have the time and I am open to chatting and answering questions first to see if we are a good match.
r/Book_Buddies • u/Routine_Eggplant_903 • 2d ago
I’ve always preferred the company of books over crowded rooms, and fictional characters over modern romance. I’m a teenage girl who has never been in a relationship—mostly because I value depth and haven't found anyone who speaks the language of literature and quiet thoughts yet.
If you are an introvert, into classic books, or just someone who prefers a cold, thoughtful conversation over superficial small talk, feel free to drop a comment or reach out. What book completely changed your perspective on life?
r/Book_Buddies • u/CorrectProfession846 • 2d ago
Does anyone know of any whimsical book clubs in chicago or on discord?

Currently working through Dostoevsky in order — White Nights, then Notes from Underground...
Im looking forward to read Kafka, Camus, Tolstoy, Nietzsche, Nabokov, kant.
Plus I mostly read systematically — physical annotation system, cross-book tagging, the whole apparatus.
My interests sit at the intersection of existentialism, absurdism, and Mādhyamaka philosophy. Plus nihilism
Also im currently reading lolita and waiting for other classics in my list
Mainly i need a friend w same interests to nerd out..
r/Book_Buddies • u/Fields_Waves • 2d ago
Started reading more regularly again and now I have an itch for some science fiction. Would love to have someone to chat back and forth as we read.
Some of my favorites include:
Never Let Me Go
Solaris
Blindsight
Dying Inside
The Fifth Head of Cerberus
A Deepness in The Sky
I'd like to think I've open minded and enjoy a variety of things. So if you like similar books let me know.
Also I am not really interested in random discord group invites and would like to start reading fairly quickly, as I have had a lot of weird messages and conversations that end up going nowhere.
Perhaps that seems a bit harsh but I am just excited to start reading something. I am also EST (Florida). Thanks.

So I have an online book club, and we are not much, but the people in it are so passive. They don't msg or don't answer your questions, just one or two answers. I get so frustrated with them. Sometimes, I just want to remove them all or just tell them if they don't want to be here, just leave.
Please help me with how I can increase the quantity of the members and how to make them active. I feel like I am just doing all...
