Hello! For a long time I haven't had time to spend on hobbies, especially kitbashing and painting. Also I felt a little burned out with Blood Angels and, despite them being by far my favorite legion, I needed to switch things up a bit and instead of making our beautiful Sons of Sanguinius, I made a couple of our gruesome cousins - Night Lords.

But I'm back! And I present to you my most recent creation - salvaged Legion Preator! I got the base model banged up, whoever assembled it before me messed up the cape. I didn't know what to do with it since the damage was a bit severe all around so I stashed it for about a year. But, thanks to my Night Lord experience, I decided to make this Blood Angel a bit messy and play into the damage. How do you like it?

I have 2 Ballistus Dreads. I'm going to paint 1 in normal colours but I want to do 1 as a DC dread. With it being a ranged dread, would it make sense in lore at all?

I am going to do it - rule of cool - but if there is some justification for it, that would be good

Finished up a conversion of Aethon Shaan as a Death Company Captain. So much to love about the original model I wanted to put him somewhere in the army.

Slowly getting through all the armageddon models, i think this is my favorite one i've done so far

With today’s update of the 40K app, they made the visual changes for the new models of Armageddon, as well as added the ‘Absolver Bolt Pistol’ to the Jump Chaplains weapons..

My question is, seeing as they didn’t do away with the previous models wargear from the datasheet.. is this to say that the previous jump chap’s war gear should be good to stay through 11th? Or is it possible they still do away with it?

Just bought my first Jump Chap with the previous model, and I’d like to not have an illegal setup on him if at all possible.

Detachments: Ironstorm Spearhead and Wrath of the Doomed

Disposition: Purge the Foe

The recent update was a little disappointing so I've been toying with more list ideas. As a professional Wrath of the Doomed hater I have been trying to figure out a way to make it not suck.

Then I saw that GW changed Ironstorm from Purge to Take and Hold. Seems like a silly and needless change to me. They don't want tank heavy armies playing Purge Then it hit me. What if we play a Purge Ironstorm list anyway?

On the other hand, I think WotD's problem is weakening your already fragile squads to advance and charge. If you use it on a dread however, you don't run into the same issue. The dread is (usually) harder to kill and it's firepower won't be affected by losing a wound or two. It also helps the dread overcome its slow movement.

So this list is built around the DC dreads. They have access to advance and charge as well as mobile strat. This plus their reactive move when shot means they will be in threat range quickly. Ironstorm has some pretty good strats like Ancient Fury or Vengeful Animus to further boost them.

The Baal Predators will help support watching home and midfield providing more solid overwatch potential.

The SPs and BGVs will hold midfield objectives and help screen (Warlord will have The Flesh is Weak). Impulsers are there to move them up quickly for round 2 scoring.

With the Lancers for AT, BPs for anti-infantry and the dreads for all around melee nothing will be safe.

This certainly isn't optimized but more of a proof of concept.

Hi everyone! I’m a graphic designer that happens to adore Warhammer 40k. I have been thinking about doing a poster (like the example above) of the Blood Angels successor chapters. As it will be no small task, I wanted to ask the community a few things to help me plan it out. I will provide the print ready file with bleed to the community when it is all finished up.

1.  First things first, size. I want to do a canvas print and my printer does 36” x 24”, 40” x 30”, 45” x 30”, and 60”x40” (probably the one I will do myself). I may do the 60x40 as that would allow a 30x20 to be printed relatively easy. Thoughts on the sizing?
2. As I don’t have many of the supplemental, chapter approved, codexes, etc, I will primarily be relying on Lexicanum and/or the WH40k Wiki. Is one of these known to be more accurate than the other?
3. My thought regarding the canvas may be to do a two-sided poster instead and the back would have a sort of “data slate” on the chapters listing things like: Founding Number, Chapter Number (is this still even a thing?), Chapter Master, Homeworld, Specialty, Strength, Status (renegade, extinct, etc), Estimated Strength. I could also do this on the front (like the example at the top of this post) but I’m worried I won’t have the space to do so. I also want to include a short fact or two that is unique to that chapter (i.e., Not claiming BA descent, originally thought they were UM descendants, color their DC in white instead of black, mining gold from the Cruor mountains for custom power swords, etc).
4. Should I also list the founder of each chapter?
5. Would the community prefer the standard graphic or should I try to find fanart and/or recolor existing images to create the armor color graphics?
6. Does anyone have (or know of) a repository of the vector chapter symbols? Most are simple enough for me to redraw in Illustrator but it would certainly save time to have them elsewhere.
7. Should I list them by Founding (2^nd, 3^rd, 21^st, etc), alphabetical, or some other method? The only thing that gives me pause here is that most of the wiki articles don’t list an actual founding for them.
8. I was also thinking of adding the CMYK and/or pantone color codes beneath each armor image but they may be overkill.
9. I was thinking for the background to utilize either images of Baal or, more likely, the Red Scar map.

Any other thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated! I’m stoked to finally make this (as long as something like this doesn’t already exist lol). I also thought that, if I do the front/back style poster, that I could easily make “trading card” style data slates for each chapter.

ETA: Any recommendations for any supplemental materials that would help with finding art would be great as well. I have quite a few PDFs of the old school materials but most of the successor stuff is in later editions.

ETA2: Should I list the Blood Eagles and both the Red Seraphs and the Angels Numinous as three different chapters or drop the Blood Eagles and only list the two chapters that resulted from their civil war? Same question regarding the Angels Penitent?
