Mining Pools StratumRace live

StratumRace is now live: https://stratumrace.com

This site monitors how quickly Bitcoin mining pools send block notifications to connected miners. Currently measured from two vantage points (Ashburn, US and Frankfurt, DE), you can see which pools deliver first.

All code is open-sourced and available for you to test and verify from your own location: github.com/proofofmike/stratum-race

Built in collaboration with ProofOfMike. This is part of our continued effort to support miners in making data-driven decisions about which pool to use. All feedback welcome!

Looking for ideas to keep a garage cool with 2 miners (without using AC if possible)

Post

Hi everyone,

I'm still planning my setup and haven't bought the miners yet.

At the moment, I'm considering 2× Antminer S21 Hydro because they seem to offer a very good ROI with my electricity cost (around $0.07/kWh), they're reasonably priced on the second-hand market, and they're also much quieter than air-cooled miners (around 50 dB, according to Bitmain's specs).

That said, I'm still open to other recommendations if you think there's a better option for my situation.

I live in the south of France, where summer temperatures can easily reach 40°C (104°F).

The miners would be installed in my garage, which is not insulated and shares a wall with my living room. The garage is also my home gym, so I'd like to avoid turning it into an oven during the summer.

I could install an air conditioner, and I'm not completely against it if it's genuinely the best solution, but it feels a bit excessive just to cool a garage.

The idea I have at the moment is to build a sound-insulated enclosure around the miners and exhaust all the hot air directly outside using a large insulated duct and a very quiet, high-airflow inline fan. My goal would be to keep the garage itself close to the outdoor temperature while keeping the enclosure around 30–35°C (86–95°F).

I'd love to hear from people who have already built similar setups.

  • Is this a good approach?
  • What airflow (CFM or m³/h) would you recommend?
  • Which quiet inline fan would you buy?
  • Would you recommend something other than the S21 Hydro for this type of installation?
  • Have you found a smarter or more efficient solution?

Any advice, photos, or real-world experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! 😊

Mining News Parasite Pool 4th Block Found!

First block was found about 140 days ago.
Averages out to a block every 35 days.
Awesome to see smaller pools hitting blocks like this, how many more blocks do you think Parasite finds before the end of the year at this rate?

General Discussion Looking for opinions on management software and mining pools and firmware

Looking for advice on ASIC management, mining pools, and firmware for an off-grid S19j Pro operation
I’m currently running three 20-foot conex boxes that I built out for Bitcoin mining. Each container has 81 Bitmain S19j Pros, for a total of 243 miners.
The operation is completely off-grid. I’m powering each container with a 500 kW generator running on natural gas produced from my own gas wells.
My current setup is:
Hive OS for ASIC management
EMCD mining pool
Hiveon firmware on the miners
The miners have a mix of Amlogic and IO+BB control boards.
I’m looking for opinions from anyone operating a larger farm:
Are there any management platforms you prefer over Hive OS, such as Foreman, Awesome Miner, or Minerstat?
What mining pools have been the most reliable for you in terms of uptime, reporting, support, and payout structure?
What firmware would you recommend for S19j Pros with Amlogic and IO+BB control boards?
Has anyone had good results with Braiins OS, VNish, LuxOS, or another firmware?
Are there any issues I should watch for when managing a mixed-control-board fleet?
My main priorities are reliability, remote monitoring, power optimization, temperature control, and minimizing downtime. I’d appreciate any advice from people running similar off-grid or stranded-gas mining operations.

I recently got a trial rig from simple mining before actually buying a rig off their marketplace. I noticed my rig goes into "Curtailed" mode quite often. Is this normal? Attached is the up time graph as well

General Discussion First time at Mining Disrupt next week. What's actually worth doing?

Going as an attendee, no booth. Mostly interested in the ops/infrastructure side. Is the expo floor or the side events where the real conversations happen? Anything first-timers always get wrong?

If you're going, I'd love to connect.

Troubleshooting & Repair 🙏 Warranty centre for Bitmain/Europa Connection BV in Netherlands

Do not send any server for repair to Bitmain/Europa Connection BV in the Netherlands.

I sent a hydro server for warranty repair. Their first response was that they could not repair it under warranty because it had “mixed hashboards.” The server was literally brand new and dead on arrival. They then quoted me over $1,300 for the repair. Needless to say, I refused.

After I declined the repair, they demanded a payment of 45 USDT before returning my server. Due to MiCA regulations, I couldn’t make a USDT payment, so I asked to pay by PayPal or bank transfer instead. They continued insisting on USDT.

Eventually, we agreed that I would arrange collection myself. That’s when the real nightmare started.

I booked and paid for a DPD collection, sent them the shipping label, and was then told that DPD could not be used, something they had never mentioned before and that I had to use UPS instead.

So I booked UPS, sent the new label, and informed them the parcel would be collected later on in the afternoon. They then replied that collection could not happen that day and had to be the following day. Fine ,I rescheduled it for next day.

Then I received yet another message saying they would not allow any courier other than their own to collect my equipment.

In the end, I had to ask a friend to pay the 45 USDT on my behalf just to get my own server back.

Now I’m waiting to see what actually arrives. Based on many similar reviews from other customers, I’m concerned I’ll receive an empty shell or different parts than the ones I originally sent.

From what I’ve experienced and judging by many other reviews, they seem to find any reason to deny warranty repairs and pressure customers into paying for expensive repairs. If you refuse that’s when the real battle begins.

I’ll update this review once I receive my server back.

General Discussion Powering through hot temps

85f ambient temp and we're still running the hydros in high power mode with the smaller fans using 5kw per dry cooler.

We built our system with the ability to upgrade the fans to massive fans using 15kw per dry cooler if needed. We're just on the edge of needing that upgrade, but the goal is to be able to run in high mode year round regardless of the weather conditions

General Question how do independent devs build trust with hardware owners?

i have been working on a custom stratum server backend project for physical hardware setups.

obviously trust is a massive barrier in this space since most people stick with the massive established networks. how do independent software developers actually convince hardware owners to test out a startup setup for stability?

is there a standard way to build a reputation from scratch when you are a solo developer?

any advice from anyone who has launched open-source or custom infrastructure before would be great. thanks.

Hosting Provider We host Bitcoin miners for a living, ask us anything!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey fellow miners! We're Simple Mining, a US Bitcoin mining host based in Cedar Falls, Iowa with 10 sites across the state. We're getting set up as a verified vendor here and wanted to introduce ourselves so you know who you're talking to when we show up in threads.

Quick rundown of what we do. We host Bitcoin miners (you own the machine) at one of our sites, you point them at whatever pool you want, and the Bitcoin lands in your wallet. Pricing is tiered by fleet size, running $0.07 to $0.08 per kWh all in. With precision billing you only pay for the hours your machines are actually hashing, and you can pause them at anytime if mining becomes unprofitable. We also do certified ASIC repair in house, with free repair labor and unlimited fan replacements. We run north of 4 EH/s across 150+ MW for thousands of clients across the globe and hold 95%+ uptime.

If you're on the fence about mining, or just want to see what hosted mining with us would actually feel like, we run a free 7 day trial on 100 TH/s. It gives you a feel for what your experience would look like with us. You get access to our client dashboard and watch your Bitcoin earnings, uptime, and alerts in real time, so instead of taking a gamble on a host, you get to judge us for yourself.

We're here to be useful. If you've got questions about hosting, repairs, pool setup, or whether hosting even makes sense for your situation, drop them below!

Hobbyist and Lottery Mining StealthMiner V2- 120V Single Hashboard Home Miner redesign

Thumbnail
gallery
29 Upvotes

I made an update to SatStackingPleb's Stealth Miner enclosure.

A few minor tweaks to make still, public files will be posted after my design review with SSP.

Improvements:
-10% less plastic

-Eliminates large flat side panels, substantially reducing warping when printing with non-composite filaments

-More indexing features for easier assembly

-Integrated bottom handles for easier lifting from a table

-Highly customizable mounting system for internal peripherals

-Updated styling, stealth-style badging

-Exterior ridges better conceal seams when the enclosure segments must be split for smaller printers

-Tongue-and-groove joints, enclosure feels like one solid piece

Same performance!

I'll be listing this one for sale in a separate post following the posting of the public files (775k sats+shipping, ~16TH/s@27J/TH, no louder than a space heater), keep your eyes peeled for that.

A portion of StealthMinerV2 proceeds will go to SSP to thank him for all his hard work with single hashboard platforms.
