Bike Tag Houston Bike Tag - The Google Maps Experience

Everyone,

This link should take you to a Google Map that I've put together with the locations and images of all the Bike Tags that have been placed so far. I'll continue to update it with new finds going forward. Many thanks to everyone who helped me track down some orphaned images and locations. The list is now complete:

Google Map of Houston Bike Tags

The maps serves a couple of purposes:

  1. Provides a record set of all the locations that r/bikehouston members have tagged so others can find them and pay a visit.
  2. Helps you to see if a location you are thinking of has already been tagged to avoid more duplication.
  3. Shows what areas haven't been getting enough love. If you see a Bike Tag desert on the map that you are familiar with, you have the chance to introduce us to interesting new sights that Houston has to offer.

I've grouped the tags in batches of 25 just to keep the list and display a bit more manageable. You can certainly turn on all the tags and see how well covered the city has become so far.

Tags with RED pins are locations where the image that was tagged is no longer there. Several of the older murals have been painted over, for example.

Clicking on a tag will pop out a preview picture and description. Clicking on the preview picture will open a full size version. Wherever possible, the picture is the one from the original tag.

Have fun and explore this great town!

the walkways being underwater when theyre normally not adds to the vibe honestly. that didnt stop some people from still going on them for the fun of it though. not having to deal with parking is always a plus

BIKE CLUB!

Hey everyone! I’m looking to get a group of people out Monday mornings for a bout an hour bike ride at Allen parkway or memorial park!

I’m in the restaurant industry and I’ve come to find that biking and community really helps navigate through the stress! All are welcome!

EDIT!!
The plan is to meet at the area right outside Lee and Jamil skate park at 8 and ride out at 8:30! How does this sound to everyone? Any suggestions?

CLOSING DATE: JULY 10

They have a short survey, and then you can post pins to an interactive map with your comments concerning where the needs are.

Predictably, the feedback is lacking on the east side, so if you live there, your pins are needed.

How Bentonville Became a Bike City: From Bronze to Silver and Beyond

Bentonville, Arkansas benefits from world-class mountain bike trails and a vibrant downtown – but its rapid population growth brings challenges for traffic congestion and mobility. So how did this community go from being a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) with only 6 Bicycle Friendly Businesses (BFBs) and no on-road bike infrastructure in 2019, to Silver-level BFC recognition, 37 BFBs, and over 30 miles of new bike infrastructure built in the last 3 years? Using League of American Bicyclist and City Thread programs and strategies, coordinated between municipal and community partners, the city of Bentonville pinpointed public backing for mobility solutions and mobilized residents, businesses, non-profits, and other stakeholders to demonstrate their support. Hear from city and community leaders on how they are moving forward together, faster.

Rental help in Houston!

Hi Im over from the UK on a work trip. Tomorrow is my last day, Im hoping to rent a bike for the day and hit some parks/trails. I dont know the local scene at all, but Ive tried the first few rental places that came up (Bayou, Eado, bay area cycling) none can
help so far. I just need a cheap, basic gravel/hybrid/MTB for a few hours tomorrow. If anyone can point me in the right direction Id really appreciate it, thanks :)

I’m in the Pasadena area so, somewhere not too far away from there would be great

Brays Bayou Trail at BW8/59 Open!

Houston Parks Board posted this an hour ago:

Houston Parks Board, in partnership with Commissioner Lesley Briones, is proud to announce that a major connectivity project along the Brays Bayou Greenway is now open to trail users.

This project includes two new undercrossings at US 59/IH 69 and Beltway 8, plus a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge - helping people safely and more easily walk, bike, and explore one of Houston’s most important trail systems.

As we approach National Trails Day, this milestone is a reminder of what strong partnerships can accomplish: more accessible, connected greenspace for everyone.
