Discussion I genuinely believe that, when and if Berserk is ever finished, a proper anime will be made.
My reasoning is a few things. To explain I’ll go over the reasons against an anime being made:
The most obvious is it isn’t finished. I believe this is actually the primary reason. No one wants a repeat of HxH, or a Fullmetal Alchemist (the original, anyway). This only applies more to Berserk, with its infamously glacial release schedule. All they need is a finish line.
Berserk is arguably one of if not the darkest manga to exist. Anime studios may be squeamish about adapting something so visceral. However, I’m seeing a trend with more and more dark shows coming to light, that doesn’t censor the gore or the brutality. Have I seen anything even close to Berserks level? Regrettably no. But with Berserks legendary status and a rising trend for darker shows, I think it’s a solid possibility.
Berserk would be extremely hard to animate given how detailed it is. One rising trend more noticeable than darker stories in anime is the insane budget and animation increase that has been happening in the last few years. Shows like One Piece, Chainsaw Man, JJK, Frieren, and Solo Leveling are absolutely jaw dropping. Anime has simply never been this high quality before and it shows no signs of slowing down.
I don’t think an anime that could fully showcase Berserks detail could exist. It’s simply impossible. But I think maybe for certain scenes they could try, and I think an animations style, fluid, gritty, medieval and dark, could exist. Who knows how much the medium could have advanced by the time the manga finishes either?
What do you all think? Is it just a pipe dream? 2016 and now are very different times for the anime scene, I really think it’s possible but I’m also not the biggest Berserk or anime fan so I don’t know the behind the scenes details or business reasonings. These may be the ramblings of a starry eyed newcomer (I only started being a fan last year).

Discussion Do you think Berserk takes it too far in certain scenes or does it serve a purpose to show how dark and disturbing this world is?

Discussion Question about the apostles
I dont really care about spoilers since im not interested in getting back into berserk so feel free to give me as much info as you want, I'm confused about the morality of the apostles, before the eclipse we are shown that apostles like Wyald are irredeemable monsters, the only real sliver of humanity we see in them is the slug count choosing not to sacrifice his daughter, then after seeing Wyald and his knights ravage a village and its people (soldiers who he keeps in line by threatening their deaths mind you, no comaraderie at all) we see the eclipse, hundreds of apostles are summoned to dine on human flesh, not just the slaughter and cannibalising of human beings but the also the violation of Casca by numerous of them. All this happened because Griffith couldnt live with the consequences of his actions and chose the easy path to a second chance to accomplish his dream.
Then theres the conviction of the children arc, theres this girl who had an abusive father and i think a mother who was either negligent or too scared to defend herself and her daughter from the father, the daughter gets a behelit and sacrifices her mother and father to become an apostle, iirc she then kidnaps other children an turns them into these sudo apostle fae like beings that have a fraction of her power but all the violent and abhorrent tendencies we've seen from apostles up until now, the original girl, the one who is a true apostle finds her human friend, a younger girl who she cared deeply for as a human and apparently still cares for her as a demon. She tries to persuade her into becoming an apostle like her, i dont remember much else of this arc other than guts fighting her and killing her. This is where i stopped reading berserk, while I'm not really a fan of berserk, i do enjoy media thats heavily inspired by it like the soulsborne games, and every now and then due to curiosity I'll read a little bit of lore on the story or see where the story is currently.
From what I understand, Griffith was reborn into the material world and created his dream kingdom of falconia, a paradise for the humans of midland to find refuge in a world now full of paranormal entities, monsters, spirits, trolls etc, to defend his kingdom/to roleplay having a normal kingdom, griffith uses a combination of apostle and human soldiers in his army,
At some point i guess in a battle against the kushans the apostles in griffiths army have to shed their human form and display their true forms which is to say, demons. The humans in the army see this and while initially facing fear they just go back to fighting side by side which i really dont get, if my comrades in arms suddenly transformed into hideous monsters I'd question their entire existence and what their goals are, I'd especially question how these demons came to work for griffith, can griffith keep their bloodlust under control, how does griffith keep these monsters under control and can I even trust griffith for having literal demons fighting for him.
Then theres the apostle side, the apostles seem to have individuality, Zodd values honor and the thrill of warfare and martial combat over satisfying sick and selfish desires like Wyald and the apostles of the eclipse who consumed humans and violated Casca, i feel the same can be said about Grunbeld, I dont think this apostle was named but it was a birdlike woman fighting alongside human soldiers against i think the kushans, she ended up on the ground injured, and some humans soldiers rushed toward her to protect her, an act which seemed to surprise her, the humans were killed and this also seemed to have had some emotional impact on the demon as she became enraged at their deaths.
I guess my question is how evil are the apostles, after years of fighting and i guess living alongside humans in falconia have they gained back a bit of the humanity they cast asside during thsir behelit sacrifice, can these monsters be reformed into more or less normal non blood thirsty beings with a sense of empathy and comaraderie for the human soldiers that fight alongside them, for the humans they are tasked with protecting in falconia and can they do it of their own choice or is it griffiths godly powers that are keeping all these monsters in line, keeping them from acting on their dark desires, sorry if this post is confusing/all over the place, again feel free to spoil as much as you want, I dont plan on reading berserk any time soon.
