Ecstatic dance in Bergen?

I'm visiting from Seattle for the weekend before heading up into the fjords for a paddleboarding excursion, and I'm curious if Bergen has an ecstatic dance community. Looking online, I found a few ecstatic dance events in the past, but couldn't doesn't seem like there's anything happening regularly.

If anyone knows of anything (or any other cool dance events happening this weekend?) I'd love to hear more! If I can't find a place to dance, I guess I'll just hang out at Apollon Bergen and listen to music and maybe quietly dance in the corner?

Secure bike storage

Hello. We're currently cycle touring in Norway and we'll return to Bergen mid August. We are hoping to hire a car to travel through the high country for 10 days. We are trying to find somewhere to store our bikes in Bergen while we have the hire car. Would anyone have a suggestion?

Irish couple with two days in Bergen before a fjord road trip.

My wife and I (early 40s) are spending a couple of nights in Bergen this week (Tuesday to Thursday) before setting off on a two-week drive around the fjords.

We arrive around 5pm on Tuesday and will have a car. The forecast for that evening doesn't look great, although we're Irish so rain doesn't automatically scare us off. Is Fløyen still worth doing in rainy weather, or would you save it for Wednesday and do something else in the city?

Also on our list is to spend some time exploring some of the sites associated with the Isdal Woman case.

A couple of other questions:

  • Is Magic Ice genuinely worth a visit, or is it just a tourist trap ?
  • For Nordnes Sjøbad, is that better in the morning or later in the evening?

For food I've these on my list:

Food: Holy Cow, Olivia Zachariasbryggen (I'm coeliac, so gluten-free options matter).

Coffee: Det Lille Kaffekompaniet and Kaf Kafe Bryggen.

Thanks in advance. The best parts of previous trips have usually come from local recommendations rather than guidebooks.

Best place to watch the match tonight with a family and teenagers

We are a visiting family enjoying the beautiful city and would love to catch the match tonight in a festive atmosphere. We have teenagers so the traditional pub route might not be the best for us. I looked at tickets to the tents in the park and it was a little out of our price range for a picnic table in a tent. Any good suggestions?

First solo trip to Bergen next week – looking for some advice 😊

Hi everyone!

I’m going to Bergen next week for a 3-day trip, and I’ll be travelling alone for the first time, so I’d really appreciate some advice 😊

I noticed that the Bybanen light rail (line 1) from the airport currently requires a transfer, so I would prefer to take the Flybussen airport bus directly to the city centre instead.

I have a few questions:

Can I buy a ticket directly from the bus driver, or should I buy it online/in advance?

My accommodation will be near Torget. Where exactly can I catch the Flybussen back to the airport from that area?

Are there several stops near Torget where I can board the airport bus, or is there only one specific stop?

Is it easy to find the correct bus and stop if I buy my ticket online in advance?

I would also love to go on a boat trip/fjord cruise on my second day. What would you recommend, and where is the best place to buy tickets? If I buy a ticket online, is it easy to find the correct boat and departure point?

I’d also like to visit Fløyen and hopefully watch the sunset from there. How late can I stay up there, and how late does the funicular run back down?

Thank you so much in advance for any advice! I’m really looking forward to visiting Bergen 😊

Setter virkelig pris på alle svar føler meg veldig stuck her.

Hei,

Train from Mjølfjell stasjon to Bergen

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm planning a hike during my stay in Bergen at the beginning of August. I'd like to do a day hike in Mjølfjell and walk to Rundavatnet Lake and the surrounding area.

I'm planning to travel mainly by train, as I don't have a driver's licence. While checking train fares and timetables on the Vy website, I noticed the following information message.

So now I'm wondering whether I'll actually be able to get back to Bergen after my day trip. Is there a risk that I won't be able to catch a train back to Bergen? Do some trains on this line not stop at Mjølfjell? If so, why is Mjølfjell available as a selectable station on the website?

Would it be better to change my plans and hike around Myrdal instead?

Thank youuu :)
