Help with how to price beadwork?

I was in the bead store recently and someone I see there often mentioned they’re opening a little business in a touristy area and asked me if I would want to feature my work for purchase there. They’ve seen a number of my projects and apparently they like my stuff. Huge compliment and I appreciate it.

I had no ambition to hawk my wares, though. I don’t desire feedback or opinions from people who don’t know what they’re talking about. The first time I have to explain to a customer that the AI image they want violates the laws of physics and they argue with me I will yeet them into the nearest volcano, so, better not. 😂

But the idea of simply making things I like and putting them in her store and then people I never have to meet can buy it if they want to is more appealing than the volcano scenario. Only I haven’t the faintest idea how to price things.

I have sold artwork before and I know it’s never for what it’s actually worth once you factor in my time. I know what I pay for the materials. I don’t know how to figure out what things actually go for and where to position myself.

Ideas?

For reference here are some things I’ve made. For the brick stitch and peyote animals the only truly original designs are the unicorn and the (still unfinished/unresolved) rat, the others I modified someone else’s pattern. I am now able to make my own patterns though so I would be doing that for anything I wanted to be on offer.

I’m pretty sure this is allowed because I’m not trying to get you guys to purchase anything. If I’ve misunderstood the rules I apologize.

I had been creating some beaded animal and wondered if anyone can guess what this one is if I don’t mention it. That way I know if I need to do improvement or not. Thanks.

Finished Piece My most worn bead embroidery

This little mushroom pin started as a filler design, because I had space on my embroidery hoop, but I wear it way more than any of the other designs from that hoop! I've been beading things like this for maybe 6 months, and it's so fun.

Finished Piece Beaded the Crouching Lion

I recently went on a trip to Hawai’i and hiked the Crouching Lion
I did this beaded artwork on a 15.7” x 11.8” canvas
Instead of sewing I used craft glue to glue the seed beads 😅 cheating I know but I’m in love with how it turned out!

So fun but not easy

Started this hobby last night. Did a lot of fail portions of pieces but it was a good learning experience, I guess.

I have almost finished a single earring. I know it doesn’t look great but I’m pretty proud of it. And it’s fun and relaxing.

I do not like how you can see the thread. I had another piece that I pulled so tight that it curled so I tried to leave it sorta loose.

This is hand woven? I think a loom might be easier?

Need Help! bead bag solid look

Post image

Hi everyone
Im trying a bead bag for the first time, i used fishing line 0.6mm but i am not sure the result is sturdy enough, it is a bit soggy. So i need bigger beads or thicker line? What are your suggestions for a good result?
This is what i have done so far

(I tried bigger holes first - each square consisting 8 beads instead of 4 but it was much more soggy So i started over)

I have already sent a message to the owner of the account but they haven’t posted sinds 2025 so I’m not sure if I will be getting a response. The pattern is by mifika but I can’t find anything about the maker of this pattern. Does anyone know where I can find this pattern ? I don’t mind paying. I already thought it was/is a payed pattern

Location - Can someone please describe to me how different beading styles can look

Heyo

It's the summer holidays, Im bored and think I found something to get myself into. Beading

Problem is that I need to figure out what I want to make in order to know where to start and I don't know what are the options available to me. This is hard bc Im fully blind so it's hard to know what would call to me if u know what I mean

Basically how would Russian spirals vs French beading look like for example.

I decided I wanted to learn this stuff bc I got a 3d beaded lizard which I thought was cool. Apparently it's bead weaving... and now Im curious about what other beading styles can produce

Hopefully this post makes sense. And thanks!

Need Help! Bead bandit

Hi, i saw someone on YouTube using bead bandits to finish off their pieces and think they look great and really easy to use. I'm in the UK and can't find these anywhere - no independent bead shops, amazon etc. Are they called a different name here? I don't think they're a new thing, so I'm also wondering why they aren't used more? Do people not like them? Thanks!

Need Help! Has anyone bought gold filled beads from Wholesale Jewlery Supply Co?

They have great prices and the website seems legit (they even have social media with a substantial following) but I’m curious about the quality of their gold filled beads. Has anyone bought from them and can attest?

Need Help! Need advice on washing (?) beads

I'm considering doing some bead embroidery on a t-shirt for a friend's birthday gift. The issue is as follows: I'd obviously want it to be simple to take care of and that she'd be able to just put it into the washing machine instead of having to spot clean it or wash it by hand or whatever.

However, a big chunk of the beads I have are from sets ordered off cheap websites (like aliexpress) and I've heard that some beads, especially cheap ones like the ones I've probably got, can lose/"leak" color when washed, meaning the bead design would get messed up and the fabric might stain.

Is there any way to either prevent that from happening (like by making sure that the color that washes off is washed off and whatever color remains will remain) or to sort out potential problem beads? Do I soak them in cold water? Do I soak them in hot water and detergent? For how long?

Do I have to just put them in some kind of bag and run an otherwise empty load of laundry??

Is there any way of guessing in advance which beads are more likely to be problems? Or, conversely, which are likely to be safe? Any specific colors?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Bead color substitutes.

I did search the forum but I didn't find anything, so I'm asking. I need to substitute one color for another. Do you guys have a way to do it without trying to find it by looking and trying to guess on a screen? I can't go out from store to store because of mobility issues. TIA.
