I am struggling a bit with incorporating fractal into my signal chain and to replace tubes completely even 18 months after purchasing it (fm3 mk.1) ..

I've been using initially those legacy cabs (aka static IRs) and now converting all my presets to use a dynacabs .. technically speaking I use in 9 out of 10 of my presets the same cab block settings (like in real life just one cab) so I do same here and this above is supposed to be my main cab. In real life I was using in past years a custom 2x12 premium cab with Greenbacks ..

I play metal but this preset is built with Hot Kitty amp because it's an UK crunch and I would say sitting somewhere in the middle, not a tremendously high-gain like 5150 or 6505 style and not clean either .. Just universal crunch that you can play on with single coils (on HSS) guitar or with bridge humbucker .. This preset is meant for FOH so to be played with full range PA

my premises are - and please correct me if I am wrong:

• 4x12 sounds just wide and full ... 1x12 cabs are too punchy ... perhaps 2x12 would be a compromise, I use 4x12 here with Greenbacks in .. more about dyna-IRs here
• I use that logic that dynamic sm57 like is for punchy mids and heights (so in center) while ribbon mic is for boomy depths (so off center) and blending it with -6dB level here to not have it too dark
• I use for both same generic Low/High Cut 80-8000Hz
• I rather decrease the room/air influence, this can be done in mix
• I use a small phase desync in aligment tab for more natural sound - two mics would have too

Hi, is it better to reamp a guitar track on the Axe FX II via the usb of the axe fx or via a di box pls ?

Hi guys, i want to buy amp modeler / multi-fx.
my budget is up to 1K$, i use tonex vst with monitors but i want something outside the comuper so i can play without computer.
tonex sounds good to me but their support is bad so its not an option for me.

i had line6 pod xt live 10-12 years ago, it waqs nice nut i sell it when i got audio interface and some vst's.

is the AM4 will be good for me? is there better options?
im not sure if the 4 blocks will work for me

Hi all, I recently have gotten a FM9 and so far its blowing my mind, but I'm a noob at using it. I'm trying to get some Alex Lifeson-esque tones, and as far as I can tell the best way to do this would be to use his Tonex models, but use the FM9 for effects.

It seems to me I should be able to make a scene which goes something like guitar in > pre-amp effects > out to pro-tools/tonex plugin > back into FM9 > post amp effects > out back to protools track via spdif.

The step where I'm have trouble is the out to pro-tools, I'm unsure which Output (1/2/3) I should be using from the FM9, and also how to make sure it goes into Tonex.

Has anybody tried this/is there a better way? I'm unable to get this to work. Thanks for the help!

Today i went to the official fractal site and it has a very strange captcha instructing me to open a terminal window. Looking at the who is for them it seems someone swiped there domain and is now running some kind of scam to get users to install virus on their computers. This was on a mac but im sure it affects windows users too. Do not use their website until they get it back.

Im really really undecided. And I dont wanna mess up. I use a FM3 and i was thinking between laney 212 and this combination. I want to have a real cab behind me for the feel. Price wise this combination is similar to laney 212. What do you guys think

I know the topic’s been discussed ad nauseam, but I just can’t seem to find an answer for my specific use case.

I came up on a Mimiq (the larger OG one) for a pretty darn good price at the local MGR. I’m curious what the best way to work it into my current set up is, if possible.

Currently I have my Axe FX III Out 3L and Out 4R running into the L and R in’s on my SD Powerstage 100S, which runs out into two Mesa 2x12’s.

What are my options?

Who uses a Fender FRFR, and how do you set it up?
With NAM and the QC, I set everything to 12 o’clock, with the Cut knob at zero. But with my Fractal, the sound is noticeably worse than with the others, and I have to turn the Cut up to around 9 o’clock.
What are the best IRs in your opinion?
I have a Recto Trad York Audio pack, but I prefer the Fractal IRs. I also have some CP IRs, but I feel they lack body. I’ve also bought a few presets that sound great in the demos, but they don’t sound good at all through my setup.
That’s what frustrates me about Fractal. With the other units, most presets and captures sound good without needing a lot of EQ adjustments.
I’m not saying that they are better than Fractal.

I have a Fractal FM9 Turbo. I'm digging the metronome feature for playing live with a click track. It's everything I need, except there's no quick way to set the tempo other than tap or bending over and turning the value wheel. I have an expression pedal I'm not really using for any feature consistently. I'm wondering if I can map the expression pedal to the tempo, setting a min of 60 and a max of 180, for example. It might be finicky to nail it, but it should be quick to get within a few BPM.

I've gone through some forums and youtube and I can't find an example of setting the tempo value directly. Has anyone done something similar?

Now in my country pricing of monitors wierd due to taxes etc

So price of yamaha hs8 = kali lp6 v2 and 1/2 of kali in8 v2

Adam audio T7V is in middle of hs8 and in8. I can somewhat afford all of the above options.

What should I buy for a room 12"*12"? currently untreated but plan to add some panels myself soon. I also have a combo amp to use as amp in room. I just want the best guitar playing experience, but can't afford genelecs.

I've searched previous threads and some ppl favoring the hs8 and some kali..pls help resolve my confusion, any other monitor recommendations are welcome too..

Hello! I’m new to fractal products as a whole and was looking for some help in integrating it into my rig. I just recently picked up a Mark II Turbo and can’t figure out how to run it through my Uad Apollo x6.

I know the Fractal is a great interface on its own, but my goal was to have everything in my rig set up to go through the Apollo for ease of use. I have them connected via S/PDIF (RCA), but I can’t seem to figure out the proper Axe-FX settings. I have the Apollo set to 48K and external source as well.

If anyone has any experience with this setup or advice in general, I would greatly appreciate it. Cheers!

Would it be a nice upgrade in your opinion ?

There are some good deals on some used MK 2 on marketplace like 1/5 of MK 3 price. Do you think the price difference worth it to get a MK 3 instead of an MK2?

I’m having an issue with my 2 XL+ lately. Axe-Edit isn’t connecting to my unit despite it being plugged into the usb port. My recordings have muddy and fading in and out in terms of volume. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver to my Focusrite Scarlett and that’s gotten it back to normal. My Axe Fx 2XL+, however, is still not connecting to my laptop or Axe Edit despite me removing and reinstalling the driver 3 times now. I don’t know what to do

Hey guys i have a fm3 and have been looking to get an frfr or a cab to put behind me when im with my band to get that real amp feel. My question is is an FRFR specifically LANEY 112 or 212 a better option then lets say a real cab with a power amp(something like a harley benton gpa 100).

I’ve been using Fractal products since the very first model, and since then I’ve hardly tried anything else. Recently, however, I decided to try a few Neural DSP plugins as well as the Quad Cortex.
The experience left me a bit unsettled because I found some things about the competition very appealing.
To me, Fractal’s effects and amp simulations are still among the best. However, I was wondering if I’m the only one who feels certain differences.
For example, I have difficulty hearing the effects on Fractal. For a reverb or a delay, I often have to set the mix between 50% and 60% to really hear them, whereas on the Quad Cortex, with only a 20% mix, the effects are already perfectly present.
I also had the impression of playing through a real amp in the room. There’s a kind of growl or presence that’s difficult for me to describe. With my Fractal, the sound seems flatter and less lively, even though it’s also brighter.
I think the Quad Cortex cabs have a lot to do with it, because when I use my own IRs, the result is much less appealing.
I’ve also bought many third-party presets for Fractal, but most of them don’t sound like the demos you hear and, for me, are unusable.
On the other hand, with the Quad Cortex, I had the impression that what I heard in the videos was exactly what I got once the preset was loaded onto the unit.
For example, I heard Kiko Loureiro playing with his preset. I tried it myself and got exactly the same sound.
Finally, I find that some Fractal amp simulations don’t really sound like their real-life counterparts. For example, the Carvin Legacy is quite far from the original—very far, in fact. In this particular case, I find the captures more realistic than the modeling offered by the Axe-Fx.
I have to admit that I’m quite troubled by all this because I’m very attached to Fractal. I really appreciate this brand and everything it has brought me over the years. Yet today I have the feeling that my Fractal no longer suits me as well as it used to. The most frustrating part is that I’m unfortunately enjoying playing it less and less. That’s exactly why I wanted to know whether other users have experienced the same thing, or whether I’ve simply missed something.

I used the axe fx 3 with boss katana turned off cab sims. I did not like the sound from my precious posts I’ve been trying to get the axe fx 3 to sound less digital and so far through the EVH frfr can and katana I’ve yet to come across a single setting I really like for gain . Oddly enough I find the chorusy delay cleans to be beautiful but the gain sounds so artificial like I’m playing a synthesizer not an instrument that’s just my opinion . Would a live cab with a power amp sound much better . Or I’m beginning to think this thing kind of sucks ?
