In the new show its believed that korra is the reason behind the cataclysm so probably one of the main plot is going to be figuring out what happend the new avatar will probably try to talk to korra but its aang she ends up connecting with because i dont think the avatar connection was destroyed but korra was ripped out of that connection.

This is strange since Raava doesn’t seem to have the ability to split between multiple people. Avatar Roku had a twin brother, Yasu, yet he was only able to bend fire. In Legend of Korra, that Raava and Vaatu will always exist as long as the other does. When Raava is killed by Unalaq, the Dark Avatar, she is reborn inside Vaatu, then she is pulled out and rejoined with Korra. After this, Korra uses spirit bending to kill Unalaq and Vaatu.

The moon is 7.35*10^22 grams of earth and the heaviest amounts of earth bended on screen was Wan Shi Tong's library by Toph and Avatar Kyoshi splitting Kyoshi's Island from the mainland. Disregard distance, as in it doesn’t matter how they far are, but instead if the amount of earthbenders needed to push the moon around at least 1 centimeter were on the moon, how many would you need? Separately, how strong would a singular bender need to be to be able to move the moon as much by themself? BONUS QUESTION if a meteor was to hurling towards Earth how many earthbenders would it take to divert it's trajectory.

When I saw comic I thought she quite different from her show. yaoping town is a village in (i think the southern but i forget where i heard this) earth kingdom, where yangchen practiced airbending and kuruk fought off the malicious "heartwalker" spirit. in wan shi tong's library the calendar states (according to the wiki, i dont read chinese and any attempts i made to translate it myself failed due to the archaic nature of the text) that one of the earliest eras was called the "peace of emperor yao", or yao ping era.

there is next to no evidence for this, but hey, we've made theories on less before:

This created a long era of peace and development before its collapse. Based on the eras I previously estimated this was 1-2 thousand years after the era of Wan. Yaoping town was the old imperial capital. The EK can't have been all fighting before the unification period, and based on the number of Earth Kings its only at the very most 2 or 3 thousand years old in ATLA. What happened in the intervening time? All these lost civilizations Professor Zei talks about, is the Yao emperor's nation one of them?

it seems to me they just encompass the single sub art of lightningbending, when i was watching the show i always assumed they were the same art.

When Iroh is awakened by Azula practicing her lightning with the twins there's something going on. I assume they were close enough to get a faint sound or maybe Iroh could feel it in his joints. Maybe it was spirit world stuff? REGARDLESS. He definitely could tell it was lightning being bended right? Is there a difference in sound or energy? I am curious to get some opinions on this.

My working theory at the moment is that lightning is unnatural in pattern similar to water or earth floating in the air, so a trained ear would be able to tell the difference of a thunder cracking sound 🤷‍♂️

As a long time fan who has watched and rewatched ATLA and TLOK since I was little, there’s something that always confused me. I never understood how Toph - Melon Lord, Ms. Antirules, Ms. Antiauthority ended up forming the police force and spending a good part of her life enforcing rules and regulations?? Toph ran away as a child, opposed authority (even when it came to Katara), and fought regularly in the WWE of the earth kingdom! I would have instead expected her to be the person who formed the arena fighting and a legend in that right. That makes more sense to me. It seems like a much more natural storyline would have been for the Kyoshi warrior to be the initiators and foremothers of the police force. In the 100 year war after meeting the gang, Suki led them to Refugee Ferry Stop to help people in an organized way. If you read the comic they also helped keep zuko safe as sort of a “royal security” when he was threatened.

So I know this is likely unpopular but it's been bugging me on rewatch.

When Zuko changes sides, he does it on the day of black sun. Knowing Aang is likely there to reveal him being alive .

Azula planted doubt in Zuko. Making his return to the fire nation.. no longer secure.

The way it's written and the way it plays out.. and I know this isn't popular but.. it almost seems like he swapped sides out of self preservation as opposed to genuine change. This does not diminish his arc or good deeds later of course but..

I just wonder if Zuko changed sides cause he had to. So "all that glory would turn to shame" wouldn't come to pass.

It's like azula planted a ticking time bomb in his head. "What will happen when they realize Aang is alive, realize I didn't kill him."

Plus he hired an assassin to "end" Aang when his anxieties showed up after Azula admitted to her plan of his downfall which doesn't help.

Now I'm not saying it's exclusive. He could have both the real change intended plus this self preservation. He's a complex character after all.
