searching for guitarist… we’re a 4-piece (with you we become a 5-piece) that is very active in the local diy rock scene. a solid live show is important to us. the ideal person will also be equally invested in the larger local scene here: this is reflected by going to local shows, playing with and/or supporting other local bands, organizing events, etc. dm for more info

any woodwind or trumpet (other brass maybe)

i'm in a two piece experimental hardcore punk band with bass and drums. my bass rig is unique with reverb and heavy fuzz and drive and my playing style is very chord heavy with a hybrid rhythm/lead style. we don't want to add a guitar so i can push my creative limits and the limits of the instrument. i say experimental hardcore punk because it's hard to pin down exactly what our genre is, but they are all pretty aggressive songs. anyway, my drummer and i have been wanting to try adding a wind instrument to sort of play around with an experimental line up and an unconventional lead. we did have a bass clarinetist come through a few times and that sounded pretty rad but he was too busy, but the concept has been attempted and it has potential. woodwinds have that sort of shrill edge that we want and a trumpet could work too. i think a reed instrument would work best, sax is the most obvious choice, but heck i could even give a bassoon a shot, lol. i don't think lower pitch brass would work in the way we are looking for but i could be convinced. i am a trombonist as well so it is coming from a place of some experience but i could be wrong. anyway, dm me if interested.

Hey! I’m a musician and perform guitar in the band Faetrap. We’ll be playing Kick Butt Coffee this Friday, July 24th. You can expect a full night of creepy visuals, heavy music, underground horror culture, and chaotic holiday energy presented by the friends in Austin Ghoul Gang.

The night starts with a mystery horror movie screening (even we don’t know what’s in store) at 8 PM followed by live performances from:
Faetrap
The Immortalz
Live Another Day

Place to practice

I'm in a little bluegrass band that practices every Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm. We've been meeting at each other's houses up to now, but I thought It'd be fun to find a little beer place in north Austin that would be ok with turning their music down and letting us practice in their place.

Do y'all have any places you think might be ok to our coming over?

Thanks!

Austin area hand specialist for musicians

Does anyone have any recommendations for any doctors for hand issues? I’m having some numbness in my left hand ring finger affecting my ability to play guitar, and from a quick Google search it doesn’t match the common root causes (carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, trigger finger). I’m specifically in Cedar Park so I prefer the north side, but I’m willing to travel. Thanks!

Hey yall, am making a playlists of bands and artists from OKC (that’s where I’m from :) Wanted to make something to highlight all the awesome acts in the area. Lmk if you have any suggestions of who I should add that I haven’t, if you wanna download it (it’s free, just a Spotify playlist), or if I should make others for other cities in our state!

Any guitar instructors?

Just moved to Austin, starting out on guitar.
Can anyone recommend a good teacher?
I know the basics but I finally have the time to fully invest myself in learning.
I would like to find an instructor with a background in “math rock” or prog, since that’s the style I would like to eventually learn.
Thanks guys!

Bassist looking for guitarist/drummer in Austin area

Hey yall, so I'm a 17 year old bassist looking for a guitar or drummer to cover and make songs with. I'm mostly focusing on guitarist due to my father being a drummer so he can sub in for a bit. You could be my age or like 10 years older. I'm influenced by Cliff Burton, FFDP, Shinedown, Seether, Whiskey Myers, etc. I do also sing and I have a couple videos I can find if you want me too.

Searching for lead guitar

Searching for a new lead guitarist to join Southbank, an Austin-based 5-piece indie rock/power pop/americana band. Our most recent singles Peter & Gwen and Borderline give you a good sense of our sound. We play about a gig a month and are getting more and more requests lately. Rehearsals are Sunday afternoons, once or twice a month. The goal is to play about a show a month for now, just working our way up in venues when we can. There will be some recording at times too, we have a backlog of songs to be worked up.

If you like the Replacements, Old 97's, Jason Isbell, Bob Schneider, Fountains of Wayne, early Wilco, the Hold Steady, and the like, you're in the right place. If you like Alex Jones or Andrew Tate, we won't vibe. Alcohol/420/LGBTQ friendly, any gender is welcome.

We’re going to have auditions in the next few weeks, so DM me if you want to talk about it.

Seeking pianist or guitarist to co-compose arrangements

Hello! I am a singer/songwriter/vocalist who a) just moved to Austin and b) is seeking guitarists or pianists who can help me turn some searching lyrics and simple chords into full-blown arrangements. The vibe is a lot of Leonard Cohen and a little Glen Hansard/Van Morrison, and the image below gives an idea of what I'm up to lyrically. I'm not entirely sure what I'm building, but I'm looking for talented, expressive folks to build it with! Am open to casual collaboration, compensation, or anything in between. Please reply if interested or email me at [email protected]. Thank you for reading!

Looking for Mastering Engineer

Hello, I am looking for somebody to master a ten track album for my upcoming project! The songs are mixed by me and will be finished soon, so I wanted to see if I could start finding somebody. I would say that the genre falls under DIY rock - wanting someone to make sure everything reaches a good loudness and crispness for the finished product.
Feel free to reply if you want to work together!

Edit: Thank you all for your replies, I'm going to look at everyone's requests and respond soon.

Hey Austin musicians! I'm looking for a place to record myself playing on an acoustic piano. Are there any affordable (or free) spots in town with a decent piano where I could do this? Appreciate any leads!

Looking for a studio tech or assistant for a hourly or day rate to map, re-organize, and label a home studio. Must know audio signal flow and be organized in cable management! Would like it clean. Setup is ~16 channels with many keyboards/synths.

Family Friendly Festival

Organizing a community festival (family friendly) in September and looking for 2 local bands/musicians to be a part of the good vibes. Would love any recommendations. Prefer a cover band that can keep people singing, dancing, rapping their feet, and unable to leave :)

New vocalist seeking pianists/composing buddies

Hello all!

Just moved to Austin for work, and am hoping to make some good music on the side. I am a singer/songwriter with some basic chord and theory knowledge, but the arrangements I hear in my head far outstrip what I can play with my hands. If any pianists would like to collaborate, either informally or for payment, please let me know. Leonard Cohen/"Blue" era Joni Mitchell is the vibe, with a little folk thrown in for good measure. Can send sample lyrics or melodies upon request. Feel free to contact me here or at [email protected].

working in local music scene

Hi Austin! (posting this on multiple subreddits)

I'm a senior university student interested in working in Austin's music scene, whether it be through part-time roles, volunteer opportunities, reception, working the door at venues, I'm willing to learn anywhere I can.

I'm especially interested in live music and event production, I want to learn and understand as much of it as I can, and eager to get my foot in the door anywhere I can.

I'm open to any and all suggestions! Venues or events I should look into working/volunteering at, music industry professionals in need of any administrative support, people I should get in contact with, anything!! Advice too!

Thanks Austin!
