Danny Worsnop’s latest comments shed more light on his current relationship with Asking Alexandria

Danny had an interesting exchange with Ash Avildsen, founder of Sumerian Records, regarding Asking Alexandria, and I’m curious what everyone else makes of it.

First off, I love Asking Alexandria and I love Danny’s solo music, so this isn’t meant as a shot at Danny or the band.
Danny being a hired contractor technically isn’t new information. He was vocal about that arrangement when he returned in 2016. But despite that technicality, for years afterward he seemed genuinely invested in Asking again and seemed to enjoy his second tenure with the band.

That’s why his wording now stands out to me.
He says “I never rejoined the band,” emphasizes that he has no control, say, or involvement in the band’s business decisions or operations, and describes his involvement as basically them sending him an offer and him deciding whether to accept or refuse it.

Technically, that may have always been the arrangement. But why does he suddenly seem so intent on distancing himself from Asking Alexandria?

Especially after seeing how well Danny was performing and screaming again in 2023 and, to some extent, 2024, the change since then has been pretty noticeable. Removing Asking from his Instagram bio, the black hood onstage, the changes with his live vocals/backing tracks, essentially stopping screaming again, and now the way he publicly talks about his relationship with the band.

I feel like I’ve seen this coming for a while.
In some ways, it reminds me of where Danny seemed to be mentally before he left in 2015. Obviously the circumstances are different, and I’m not saying he’s leaving again, but there’s that same feeling of Danny Worsnop increasingly separating himself as an artist from Asking Alexandria.

Now Asking is taking a break this year. My assumption has been that Danny may be a big reason for that — wanting to focus on his solo career and possibly just being burnt out on Asking — although obviously none of us know that for certain.

Meanwhile, everyone seems to be doing their own thing. Sam and Cam are working on a heavier side project, James toured with Breaking Benjamin and has been doing YouTube content, and Danny is heavily focused on his solo career.

That’s what makes his response so strange to me.
I understand that he technically isn’t responsible for AA’s business decisions because he’s a contractor. But he’s still their vocalist. Whether or not Asking can tour or make another album obviously depends, at least in part, on whether Danny actually wants to participate.

So when he says whether the band “wants to work or not work” has nothing to do with him, how literally should we take that?

Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but between everything we’ve seen over the last couple of years and these comments, it feels like there’s a growing disconnect again.
Does anyone else see similarities to the buildup to 2015, or is Danny simply being very literal about a contractor arrangement that has existed since 2016?

Why do some metalcore vocalists often bring the sound of their solo careers into their band's music?

You are getting a divorce, they took everything, but you are left with only these CD's, which album is best and what track are you choosing for your parkour release?

Physically there's not much to it, no lyrics or anything. Though to be fair idk if there ever were official lyrics in the 1st place. Tbh I don't own the original cd release nor do I know what it looks like so I can only really compare this to other AA cds. Musically? I definitely like it, definitely more raw, and obviously more metalcore sounding than electronicore sounding then what came after (SUAS) Honestly I'm just relieved it even came at all considering I bought this a month ago. All and all considering this is the only even semi-official way to listen to this physically, and I definitely like the sound of it, I definitely would say I'm gald I bought it!

2026 release that sounds like old Asking Alexandria.

If you guys are looking to hear something that was released recently this year that sounds like old Asking Alexandria you guys should check out an EP called Say Goodnight by Main De Gloire it’s amazing and definitely sounds like old AA. As a matter of fact they toured with AA in the past. If you’ve never heard of this band you should check out their older songs called labyrinth and Coven.

I found this band a few years back when I searched on YouTube for “New Asking Alexandria song” and it was around 2015/2016 this was around the time they weren’t putting out anything after from death to destiny and rumors of a new album were coming and shortly before The Black came out and what do you know there was a video titled New Asking Alexandria and it sounded amazing. I found out it was this band.

I think they are done.

This band is for sure done... They havent played a live show since October of 2025. That is going on 9 months of no touring and we havent heard a single ounce of news regarding new music in the meantime. Id be shocked if they dont permanently disband by the end of this year.

With 9 months off, you would think we would have some type of idea about new music since they havent released anything since August of 2023. Thats 3 years.

Looking for a shirt

Hi everyone! I’ve been a long time fan of AA, I bought this shirt back around 2011-2012. I’ve been unable to find it since. If you can’t see what it is (I get it because this photo was old as hell) it’s the yellow and orange text that has the band name and a blue monster with horns and teeth with orange and yellow spots on it. I think it had yellow lightening on it too (?) if anyone can help me find it, I’d appreciate it. I’ve searched high and low for it and haven’t been able to find it!!

GUITAR PLAYERS! What is in your opinion the easiest and hardest songs on Stand Up and Scream?

So I'm a rather unskilled player and am trying to learn the whole album and while most of it is pretty brain dead easy and just a matter of memorizing patterns it does have some tricky spots. Also if you play songs from other albums feel free to jot down what you think are the easiest and hardest songs from those albums.

Easiest:

  • Alerion: If you can play an octave and can palm mute you can play this
  • Cowboy King: no real riffing here just octaves, power chords and chugs
  • A Prophecy: Very simple patterns imo

Hardest:

  • Single Moment of Sincerity: really have to know in split seconds where to land your fingers on the fret board with the 5/8 chord also has some tricky hammer-on riffs during the chorus
  • Final Episode: Simple in terms of notes but it really requires right hand dexterity if you want to downpick the 5-7-8 riff.
  • Nobody Don't Dance No More: Random sweep pick (Ben and Cam could do that?) enough said.

I hope to come back with some Reckless stuff once I get around to learning that but feel free to comment below.

Why is an album that was still in print not even a year ago so expensive now?

I'll admit it, anything from the black and before is peak af. Thing is I've been a fan of those albums for awhile now, but only recently got into collecting cds. Seemingly most of their earlier work was hard to find, or rather just weirdly expensive. Now this isn't anything new to me, tons of good albums are just not being printed anymore, so I didn't think anything of it. Either way $36 for a used cd seems like robbery regardless so I've got practically nothing from them. Well flashforward to a month ago or so and I won a "the black" cd on an ebay auction for like $2 and I posted about it here. Someone in the comments mentioned that SUAS was recently in print at the time, but I checked Sumarian nd couldn't find it. I didn't think anything of that until now, when I went to the Wayback Machine. For those who don't know, it's a way to view older versions of websites. Surely enough, you travel back to 2025 and surprisingly SUAS is there somehow, even the black! Now I'm wondering, why is SUAS so expensive then? Is it scammers? Scalpers? Like they bought all the cds to flip? For something so recently in print, I'm just dumbfounded as to the prices. Even discogs is too expensive. It also makes me wonder why it's not in print anymore. Is it because of AA leaving Sumarian, it being a limited run? I hope it isn't from Danny's hatred of the album. Now I'm wondering if Sumarian will ever go back to printing the album. Knowing I could get the cd for $10 new just makes me wanna avoid ebay altogether, but idk where else I got get SUAS for cheap. I'm completely confused.

Some half-assed "facts" about the UNRELEASED Reckless and Relentless song titled Make You Scream

Okay bear with me on this one as it's nearly impossible to find references to this song but those of you who are long time fans might know what I am talking about. In early 2010 while on their first headline tour "Welcome to the Circus" they began in interviews starting to talk about their upcoming album. In one specific interview I may or may not be able to dig up they say the album has 12 songs and their favorite is a song called "Make You Scream". Flash forward to 2011 Reckless drops with only 11 songs and MYS is nowhere to be found on the album. I at the time figured it might be apart of a future deluxe re-release or even a Japanese release however this song never came to be and I kind of just forgot about it. Flash forward AGAIN to 2024 and Danny on a tik-tok video (or comment section I forget) responds to a fan asking about unreleased material from the older days and makes direct reference to this song. Now with this in mind I will make some bullet points about the song.

  • The song would have been a straight up rock and roll song and probably very controversial even being on the same album as Someone Somewhere.
  • With said information above it would have possibly seen a further jump towards the hard rock sound the band is known for now and likely been divisive.
  • The songs demo was apparently being tracked on a different laptop and said laptop was stolen or misplaced and thus the song was lost during the production phases.
  • It is unclear why Joey Sturgis would not have had access to this song but maybe it never made it past the demo phase?
  • Regardless, chances are we will never hear this song as for some reason the band decided not to redo the demos and thus never recorded it at Joeys ranch of a studio.

Again if you find everything I am saying hard to believe feel free to call this a bunch of BS but sadly I'm finding it impossible to find sources for this now. Perhaps said interview was deleted and it's hard to dig through Danny's TikTok to find this exact exchange with a fan.

Is this real merch?

I needed a new wallet. Saw this on ebay. It looked cool so I just bought it. Admittedly it was an impulse buy, but I only paid $14 ($20 including shipping), so I don't think it was too much money. Thing is, is this actual merch that was made or is this a bootleg or something. I have no idea tbh
