The other night my boyfriend and I wanted to go out on a dinner date. I typically go through Google reviews or Yelp recommendations, but I realized I’m probably missing out on some great small businesses that tend to be overlooked or don't have a massive marketing budget.
We are looking for independent, small business restaurants in the Seattle metro area that could really use the extra love and foot traffic right now. Times are tough for neighborhood spots, and we want to bring our money to places that actually need it rather than major restaurant groups.

Very specific question, I know. But due to very specific circumstances, I have over $500 in Dunkin gift card credit I need to use and I heard that you can use them at some Baskin Robbins.

My first choice obviously would be to use it at Dunkin but seems like there's zero locations in a 200 mile radius of Seattle.

Does anyone know if Baskin Robbins locations nearby take Dunkin credit?

We're a household of six adults with experience in healthcare and warehousing/logistics. We're looking for a fresh start and are trying to figure out where to focus our job and housing search.

• Good public transportation (we may only have one vehicle at first)
• Access to healthcare and warehouse/manufacturing jobs
• More affordable suburbs rather than living in downtown Seattle

Career-wise:

• I'm working toward becoming a Patient Advocate and am currently looking for medical office/patient services opportunities.
• My oldest is interested in the MA/CNA path.
• My husband and son both have extensive warehouse and forklift experience.

We're hoping to narrow our search before making a scouting trip. We've looked at places like Lynnwood, Shoreline, Everett, Kent, Federal Way, and Tacoma, but we'd really appreciate hearing from locals.

If you were in our shoes, which areas would you recommend looking at and are there any you'd avoid?

My husband, myself and my mom (who I take care of) are relocating here from Tampa Bay, FL. He will be working at the airport. Looking to rent for the first year and need at least 3bed/2bath place to rent. The highest our budget would allow is $3000. Does not need to be furnished and we will have pets. We are used to driving and a 35-45 minute commute. Also, if anyone can speak to using the ferry or light rail with the commute, that would help us too as we are not used to having any type of public transportation being from Tampa. What would be the best neighborhoods to look at? My only priority is somewhere safe.

Hey all, visiting Seattle in a month with my wife for tourism. Is northgate a good spot to book hotels around? We’re arriving around midnight and will be using the Link to get around. My wifes concerned about walking to our hotel (about 30 minutes) from the link station that late. We both are from philly and used to cities.

Other than the initial arrival walk the area seems great. Cheaper and great access to public transit. Any reason to be concerned or take an uber from the link?

I am from Georigia and thought about using a once in a lifetime opportunity to start a new life in Washington. In Seattle in particular since i have a family friend that lives there. I spoke to administrators at Washington state university for career building opportunities back in 2020.

The family friend and I together in the south and have always remained in contact. For years He said, all I have to worry about is getting there and he has a room for me. I thought it was nice gesture but it may soon become a reality.

It will give me an opportunity for a fresh start and explore something different.

I tried restarting in Georgia after living in Wisconsin for 9 years. I had to deal with the pandemic, divorce, job less, car repo. I decided to move back down to Atlanta with my mother to rebuild with her permission.

However, hand dealing with her demonic behavior. She has been doing everything to sabotage my success and it is wearing me down after these past 6 months. Out of the blue she wants $800 a month for a room or wants me out. She current is trying to illegally evict me and blocked the internet, doing laundry, assaulted me many times. I could press charges, but I am ready to go.

I reached out to some nearby resources. I told the case workers my story and they are willing to put me either in an extended stay for a week or purchase a one way flight to the family friend in Seattle. Another option was to stay at a nearby shelter for up to 30-days. Some considered looking to pad split.

For income,I've been only donating plasma for income and used the EBT for food. A few friends have donated money for the cause.

So let's say I transition to Seattle.

A friend of my suggest that would be a great idea considering how much hell I've gone through since being her. My greatest concern is finding a housing or shelter and the job market. I bring housing just in case its not ideal to live with a friend.

I have over 15+ years experience IT, teaching, soccer coaching, and served in AmeriCorps. I also taught ESL in South Korea. I have a bachelors in MIS and masters in administrative leadership - adult, continuing, and higher education administration. My goal was to work in international higher education, and/or ed tech.

I love living by a large body of water, asian, mexican food. Fishing, hiking, soccer, and going to the theatre, reading a good book. I thrive in a diverse environment. The only thing I was told is that it can get cold there and it rains a lot. My goal is not to make Seattle my permanent home but It could my new anchor.

There are many universities there but I am hoping it is not challenging to find a position out there.

I just need peace and safe environment to move forward but I do not have any clue about Seattle and resources I could use to get back on track with my life.

Hi everyone! My husband and I are moving up from Texas soon, and we are very excited. However, we have been struggling to identify a neighborhood to live in, as he will be working in downtown Seattle and I will be working in Woodinville.

Currently, we are considering Kirkland vs Seattle. If commuting were not a factor, we would both prefer to live in Seattle proper, as we love the city/urban life and it would be closer to his work (I worry that he’ll face more traffic going towards downtown). However I’m wondering if the commute to Woodinville will be gnarly for me? Google Maps tells me that the commute from the north cap hill/Montlake areas are 25-30 minutes during rush hour, and wondering if this is realistic or if that’s an underestimate. We’d each be okay with up to a 30-40 minute driving commute but ideally no more than that.

-Our housing budget is up to $5,000 per month, and we are looking to rent not buy.

-We are in our early 30s, no kids, just 1 small dog.
We prefer a neighborhood where it would be easy to meet other people around our age. Our ideal Saturday night is dinner, drinks with friends (we don’t have many there and are nervous about feeling isolated), hanging out with our dog.

-We both have cars but if we’re in Seattle proper my husband would consider taking the light rail to work if accessible. We are also totally ok with one of us taking the 520 bridge to commute even with the tolls.

-We would like to be near a grocery store, coffee shops, restaurants, parks or trails. Dog-friendly spaces, decent parking, and reasonable commutes are also important.

It’s been awhile and I’m hoping to get some friends together and do a river float before summer is over.

What are the best rivers to do a float on? Starting and stopping points? Any pro tips on parking, drop offs/pick ups, float configurations, best times, accessories/food/drink to bring along, etc.?

Somewhere in King County would be nice, but I’m open to driving a little bit for a nice float.

Seattle holds a special place in my heart. 11 years ago, my wife and I took a weekend trip to Seattle when we had just started dating and came away completely enamored with each other. We absolutely loved our experience driving around and visiting the Pier, Pike Place, local wine houses, restaurants, etc.

Now, 11 years later we are planning to spend our anniversary weekend back in your beautiful city. The one wish we had from our first trip was to have stayed in a more walkable neighborhood. It would be great to walk to a nice local teahouse, coffee shop, restaurant, comic/board game shop, etc. Are there any places in the greater Seattle area that offers short term rentals or hotels in a nice, walkable area? We have no issue walking 15,000+ steps a day, so the places don't need to be right around the corner.

Hi everyone, I will be visiting Seattle in January and heading to Vancouver from there.

I am wondering whether to catch the bus or the train as I have seen conflicting opinions in this subreddit..my main concerns are last minute cancellations or the trip will end up taking way longer than its scheduled to as I am planning to leave Seattle early morning to get to Vancouver with enough time to explore as I will only be in Vancouver for that day before leaving to somewhere else.
