The light gray diagonal lines are chainmail forgive the shitty artist rendition I tried my best but I really want to know if someone has previously thought of combining these cause I think this would look good as fuck with some full arm and leg armour with the little wings on the sides of the knees and elbows idk what they're called

Made this collar a year ago, collar is 8mm E 6-1, mantle is 8mm E 4-1 with flat rings. The mantle is just a basic rectangle so I’m looking to redo it to the attached pattern. My question is: what ring type would look better for the mantle? I have 6mm round rings and 8mm round rings, the 8mm match the. Oar section, the 6mm just looks gorgeous and dense. I’ve never mixed ring types like this, would that even be feasible? Or should I just stick to the same 8mm rings for consistency.

Im looking to comission an armorer this year and idd like to base it off of Sir William Harcourts tomb effigy armor. So far i've only managed to find art pieces of it. Im hoping to find photo's of a forged replica, or photos of a suit that looks like it. So I may send then to the smith as reference pieces.

So I was asked to write on this when the Odyssey promo shots first emerged last year. It's finally out, and I'd appreciate y'all's thoughts on this discussion.

I have friends in the film industry, it's not easy, and costuming is a process not just people putting things on - I mention costumers are aware of these issues in it. I try and address a little bit of that towards the end (about audience expectations and the demands of producers and directors).

What seems to be an odd mix of silly costume armour and actual thought and accuracy.

Mid-late 15th century knights. Yes I know shields became less common for men-at-arms combat but full plate + sword & shield is my favourite look for plate armoured knight. 😅

I don’t know if this goes against community rule 4, but I’m looking for a store, person or place to repair a lorica segmentation piece I have from my uncle. I’m a history teacher and it would be nice to put it into my classroom but no where around me offered repair. I’m in Chicago if that helps.

Battle happened during the morning of June 19, 1502. It was a sharp localized clash fueled by a long-standing feud between Free Imperial City of Nuremberg and Casimir of Brandenburg-Ansbach, who was a margrave at the time. In short, the spark for the battle was a dispute over nearby village called Affalterbach. Nurembergers were scared that the forces of Casimir might attack them, so they built a small wagon fort with twelve artillery pieces near Affalterbach and hoped for the best. When the Casimir aproached the defenders with his army, he realised that attacking the wagon fort was useless, so he sent a small group of light cavalrymen to bait a defensive force of burghers commanded by Captain Ullman Stroman into a nearby forest in which Landsknechte and heavy cavalrymen ambushed & attacked the smaller group of burghers. After a long fight, burghers retreated back to the safety and at the same time, the main Nuremberg arny was returning from Affalterbach not knowing that the enemies out manouvered them and attacked the burghers. Upon entering Nuremberg, tired and exhausted from their march, the main army choosed not to fight and they returned back to the safety or Nuremberg. In the end Casimir won, but it was something close to pyrrhic victory from him since he lost around 600 troops, mainly from taking fire from city walls and nearby wagon fort, while Nurembergers lost around 300 troops only, their casulties were mostly burghers and even some nobles. Eventually, two sides took their dispute to court where the imperial arbitration forced Nuremberg to pay 15 000 guilders to finnaly end the feud, a year late. This painting is depicting the battle itself which is titled "Die Schlacht im Walde" and it features depictions of german light cavarlymen with painted sallets and other types of helmets. The details about the battle are documented by Ulrich Bolt in his diary. He was a Landsknechte serving under Nurembergian colours.

After the windlass steelcrafts bec de Corbin was pulled of the market I can’t find any bec de Corbins anymore, only a very limited amount of bec de Faucon. I’m totally in love with the big spike and was wondering if any of you had any good places on where to get one as commissioning a smith is sadly out of budget. Thank you!

This video references Chinese Han Dynasty (200s BC - 200s AD) swords and scabbards found in tombs/burial complexes in ancient Roman era Bulgaria. These Chinese swords had additional Sarmatian decorations and were used by a Thracian soldier serving as a Roman auxiliary in Britain.

Got a good and deal on this helmet and already have a mid size bearded axe. Thinking about putting together a kit with them for a northern crusader around the 13th or 14th century. Just wanted to get some more experienced opinions before i fully commit.

Just a random thought, what stops a stab or sweep under the sallet but above the bevor from swiping or stabbing your eyes, nose bridge, forehead, etc. It seems impractical, but not impossible that a sword or spear bounces up when striking a chest or neck plate and finds itself under the face plate of the sallet. Curious if there were any safety measure in place that could prevent that.

Hey all, just wondering if anyone else had problems with wait times or communication issues with Fabrica Cacti, I’ve already paid them 1/3 in advance (these things are expensive) in January for a Lorica Segmentata and was told months later it would be done end of March, now we are nearing the end of July and I’ve reach out multiple times on multiple platforms to ask for updates regarding it and they read my messages with no response.

I understand they are very busy people and they love what they do and put a lot of time and effort into handcrafting their armor and such, but it seems a bit ridiculous to not even say “hey sorry you’re in the queue we will try to finish it by end of month” or something along those lines.

Has anyone else experienced this, and did they end up getting their products they paid for or did they just get a refund?
