Hello everyone!
Today I want to talk about one of the most important skills in Apex Legends: timing.
Everyone knows timing matters, but not everyone understands what it actually means or how to improve it. In this guide, I’ll explain how to recognize good timing and make better decisions during fights.
Let’s break timing down into different categories.
1. What is Timing?
Timing is a skill that you develop through experience.
It helps you understand:
When to fight
When to heal
When to rotate
When to hold your position
When to back off
Good timing is simply making the right decision at the right moment.
2. Fighting & Third Parties
Knowing when to fight is one of the hardest skills to learn.
The more games you play, the easier it becomes to recognize the difference between a good fight and a bad one.
One thing you’ll notice is that:
Good teams act fast.
Bad teams act slowly.
Fighting Bad Teams
Bad teams often spend too much time looting or hesitating.
If you recognize this, punish them before they realize what’s happening.
Catch one player out of position, secure the knock quickly, then overwhelm the remaining teammates before they can react.
Fast decisions win fights.
Fighting Good Teams
Good teams are different.
Against them, positioning matters much more than speed.
Instead of blindly pushing, ask yourself:
“When should I peek?”
Look for positions with:
Strong cover
Safe angles
A clear view of enemy movement
Minimal exposure
Never swing into open ground if you don’t have to.
Most of the times they are scanning before pushing and also axle q towards your poi that makes a lot of noise
When Should You Peek?
Always pay attention to your surroundings.
Watch your minimap.
Listen for footsteps, gunshots, and abilities.
Good players constantly gather information before making a move.
Try to predict where the enemy is most likely to push instead of reacting after they already do.
Example
You’re at Pylon on Storm Point.
What should you do?
Wait for the Jurassic team to push.
Push the Costello Camp team.
Stay patient and react to what happens.
The answer isn’t always the same.
The best play depends on the situation.
If you always wait, you’ll sometimes react too late.
If you always push, you’ll sometimes run into a bad fight.
Good timing means making the right decision for that specific moment.
How Do I Know Whether to Push?
Look at your map.
If you’re the only team in the area, pushing is usually safer.
If multiple POIs are close together, expect another squad to third-party the fight.
Always ask yourself:
How many teams are nearby?
Can another team hear this fight?
Can we finish quickly?
Third Party Timing
Many players ask:
“When should I third-party?”
Use these three questions.
1. How far away is the fight?
The closer you are, the more likely you’ll arrive before the fight ends.
If you’re too far away, you’ll often arrive after the winning team has already healed.
2. Do you have enough information?
Use both your ears and your eyes.
Figure out:
Which legends they’re playing
Which weapons they’re using
Whether they’re still fighting or already resetting
The more information you have, the better your decision will be.
3. Is It Worth It?
Sometimes the answer is no.
Don’t third-party if:
You’ll die to zone.
You’ll lose a game-winning position.
The fight takes you away from ring.
The risk is greater than the reward.
Winning the game is always more important than chasing one squad.
Final Thoughts
Perfect timing is what makes great players consistent.
Think about those fights where everything went perfectly.
The push was clean.
Every knock happened at the right time.
Nobody overextended.
Nobody panicked.
That’s not luck.
That’s good timing.
The more you practice making quick, informed decisions, the more consistently you’ll win fights and games.
If I said anything wrong or you feel I am stupid just let me know and we can discuss the point I’m open to learn only if you willingly be respectful
