πŸ”Ž ID Request Scat ID Help Vermont- approx. 1 to 1 1/2" diam.

β€’ Upvotes

First time posting here, so hopefully I got all the details in. Looking to ID mammal scat found in my back yard today. Quite fresh, so likely from last night. Very black in color. The little bit I picked apart looks fairly even in texture, though I see at least 1 seed and maybe 3 hairs in it.

River is a few yards away. Old apple tree and wild berries nearby.

I've seen a lot of animals in my back yard over time. Many are non-contenders, like river beaver, river otter, white-tailed deer, woodchuck, weasel, striped skunk, and rabbit. The ones that seem like possible candidates to me are coyote, red fox, raccoon, and fisher, along with one critter I've never actually seen... black bear. tyia!

Hey everyone!! In the pictures attached you will find a clearly visible print next to a women’s size 9 shoe (11” from tip to heel for scale) and a barely visible print. I am located about 15 miles north of the Chesapeake Bay in the rural coastal region of Virginia. I think I know what it is but would love to hear some pro’s thoughts! Thank you.

East Coast Canada. Noticed some weird white paint or mud over my bins with distinct prints. Assuming raccoon, but can anyone confirm?

Location is the southern tip of Illinois, USA, a few miles from the Ohio River. AI says the cat print is too big to be a bobcat, but I think it is despite the size. I can see what looks like the brushing of long hair around the paw.

And I'm not familiar with feral pigs, but they have been spotted on the property. There were several prints of different sizes. Maybe that's what interested the bobcat.

πŸ”Ž ID Request Possible droppings inside AC vent, South Texas

Could these be roach or animal droppings? They were found inside an AC vent in the Rio Grande Valley, South Texas.

I only have a close-up video and did not include a ruler or coin for scale. From memory, the individual pieces were very small, approximately 1/4", but that is only a rough estimate.

I am trying to determine what may be inside the vent. Thank you in advance.

I was hiking down old logging road in Western Washington around sunset and saw what I assume is urine. It looked a lot like spit. No smell. Last photos show some tracks nearby, but it may not be the same animal as I saw a lot of animal sign on this road.

For scale- my shoes are size 8 women's

Put flour all over the floor to help find an escaped pet baby corn snake. After 4 nights of nothing, got this instead. Quarter for scale. A line of dash-like tracks, just a single row of impressions, not left and right, it just seems like the critter looped around and crossed over its own path. Each dash is ~1/2 to 1cm long. Presumably some sort of bug? But I'm stumped on what kind of movement doesn't leave either 2 rows for a tread or one long drag line.

There's a few more spots across the room (12 ft away) with the same pattern, but this is the only one where it walked straight along the line of flour so it made a nice long trail to look at

Location: western Lithuania

Footprints found inside a drafty barn, on a small pile of soft garden swing covers sitting on the floor.

My hand fits in size M gloves (or size 8).

Original post here, and there's no clear agreement on what it might be.. https://www.reddit.com/r/GardenWild/s/9bDBJMA1N0

πŸ”Ž ID Request Can anyone identify these animal footprints I found near a lake in Maharashtra, India?

Hi everyone,

I found these animal footprints on the muddy shore of a lake in my hometown in Maharashtra, India, and I'm curious to know what animal they belong to.

The largest footprint measured roughly 10–12 cm (4–5 inches) in length. I don't know much about tracking wildlife, so I'd really appreciate your help in identifying them.

If possible, could you explain what features of the tracks point to a particular animal? I'd also love to know whether this species is commonly found around lakes in Maharashtra and if there are any other clues I should look for.

It seems to be made out of all purpose flour. Is it snake? what is it? also notice the 2 parallel lines on either side of the pattern.

this is in the North India, NCR Region.

the whole pattern was 40cm long
