Amnesia Bunker is a good game, if it were longer, I think can compare to Outlast.

This game is so pity, that story is very short. Especially at the game’s beginning, game just gave players’ feeling, already switch to monster and main character’s chasing and hiding. This story’s beginning is not worse than Outlast. But Outlast did it, start, middle and end, lots of result. But Bunker lacks the result, lacks the villain’s story, and even lack monster’s from. I think this good game owes players’ a story and explanation. First I started to playing this game, I thought this game was similar to the “Return to Castle Wolfenstein”. Actually lots of weapon haven’t used for too many bosses and enemies.

Motion Blur

I want to play the dark descent but the heavy motion blur makes it impossible for me to play without feeling sick, is there a way for me to disable the motion blur

[TDD] Is there a way to disable enemies despawing after killing you?

I think the mechanic is a really good idea, but it seems to activate too quickly. I just died for the first time, realized the enemies despawned, and now I don’t get to see the cool set piece which is kinda disappointing.

Sidenote, the fact that most enemies so far have despawned right after appearing and breaking down a door has gotten repetitive and underwhelming. This game would’ve been pretty terrifying with roaming enemies.

My own point of view about the Amnesia the Dark Descent (Right after I finished)

Daniel wakes up in Brennenburg Castle with no memory of who he is. Before that, the game shows a short sequence in which he stumbles through a corridor, barely able to keep his eyes open, repeating to himself: “My name is Daniel, I live in London… My name is Daniel.” After waking up, he finds a note that he had written before losing his memory. In it, he explains that he drank an elixir that erased his memories and that his goal is to kill Baron Alexander of Brennenburg.
As Daniel follows the notes left by his past self, he gradually uncovers the truth. During an expedition to Algeria, he discovered a mysterious Orb. After touching it, he saw what seemed to be another world or dimension, and from that moment on he began to be hunted by the Shadow, a supernatural force connected to the Orb.
Desperate to save himself, Daniel sought help from several people who studied Orbs, but all of them eventually died. In the end, he turned to Baron Alexander of Brennenburg, who invited him to his castle and promised to help him get rid of the Shadow.
The Orb itself should not be touched by someone who does not understand its nature, as was already mentioned.
Alexander of Brennenburg is the baron and the owner of Brennenburg Castle. Legends say that Alexander is not truly human, but rather a being that came from another dimension. He had extensive experience with Orbs and also conducted experiments related to artificial life. In order to obtain the energy he needed, Alexander killed both humans and animals, while his servants kidnapped people so that he could use them in his experiments.
Under the pretense of helping Daniel postpone his death at the hands of the Shadow, Alexander manipulated him into performing various rituals. These rituals involved sacrificing prisoners as well as innocent people who had done nothing to deserve such a fate. Daniel took part in these killings because he desperately wanted to survive. However, after everything that happened, he began to blame himself for his actions. He had taken many innocent lives, but for what? Perhaps the moment he touched the Orb and the Shadow began to pursue him, his fate had already been sealed. Perhaps he was always destined to die.
The real reason Alexander decided to “help” Daniel was manipulation.
Alexander knew that Daniel was willing to go to extreme lengths in order to save himself.
The rituals and executions that Alexander ordered Daniel to carry out were never truly meant to save Daniel. They served Alexander’s own purposes: to continue his experiments on artificial life, inoculation, and the extraction of souls in order to open a portal.
This is my personal interpretation of the story after finishing the game.

I was thinking how AMAZING a spiritual successor to Amnesia: The Dark Descent would be, but with the ambition and budget of ONTOS. 😭

Some details about ONTOS have me really hyped and thinking about the future of Frictional Games and their upcoming games.

  • Frictional Games describes ONTOS as an immersive sim, in which you explore Samsara at will.

  • The lobby of Samsara works as a central hub and the overall structure of it took inspirations from other games for their interconnectedness, notably Lordran from Dark Souls and Spencer mansion from Resident Evil.

  • There's a little bit of combat, and hostile entities in various ways. You'll have to do some resource management, and use various tools to solve problems (e.g. distract security camera with a piece of metal, or use a tool to shut down its power)

More details here

Now I can't stop thinking about a game inspired by Amnesia: The Dark Descent, but with the ambition and budget of Ontos.

Just imagine:

▶ Interconnected gothic castle to explore

▶ Suffocating and oppressive atmosphere

▶ Medieval dungeons, abandoned wine cellars, prison, sewers, morgue, ancient tunnels, crypt, decaying halls, corridors shrouded in mist and darkness, torture chambers, laboratory etc..

▶ Perhaps an outdoor area with a cemetery, chapel, garden, hedge maze, dark woods.

▶ Using objects in the environment to solve problems, find creative ways around obstacles, unlock doors, or reach hard-to-access areas.

▶ Secret passages, puzzles, dangerous traps etc..

▶ Distant echoes and unpredictable creatures lurking in the shadows, unique enemy types with different behaviors/AI in specific areas of the castle, different ways of dealing with them.

▶ Resource management, the return of the lantern, oils, sanity, torches, and new mechanics.

▶ Some new things/situations might happen when you return to certain areas (backtracking).

▶ A place that inspires both curiosity and fear with every door you open.

This would be my dream horror game!!! Frictional Games should read this.

Do you agree that The Shadow was using Daniel to get the orb back from Alexander?

The reason I believe that the answer is yes is due to The Shadow having many chances to fully kill Daniel and it not taking them.

Agrippa says that “The inner sanctum is almost impenetrable without an orb”. Hinting that The Shadow needed help since the orb was keeping it away in the first place and needed Daniel.

We also see The Shadow scream and/or spawn around you when you respawn most of the time, hinting that The Shadow resurrected you.

My biggest evidence:

•The Shadow didn’t kill Daniel even though it killed his camp, professor, and doctor.

•The Shadow let’s him live when he allows in into the inner sanctum, kill Alexander, and reclaim the orb from the Orb Chamber.

•The Shadow spared Agrippa, took the orb from him, and even took him to Genoa instead of killing him even though he had the orb in his hands. But it also seems like it ignores everything until it gets the orb - since The Shadow was chasing Agrippa and killed the innocent people In it’s way that Agrippa was speaking to earlier, but not him.

Would playing an older version of AAMFP fix the crashing issues?

AAMFP is a buggy mess and crashes constantly between level transitions. I was wondering if anybody has tried running the game on an older version like 1.0.0 or something similar and has experienced less crashes on newer hardware.

Funny thing, I bought the rose a couple of days ago, it had far more leaves when I first bought it, but they slowly fell off, almost like Daniel's humanity.

The sight of her lifeless body crippled his psyche. He tried to remove himself from the scene, but he could not. Instead he fell to his knees and begged her for forgiveness.

Issues with performance that have been degrading my experience

I'm a big horror fan who's been getting around to the game series and something that keeps happening whenever I play the game. The game initially runs smoothly but will start to have dips and start to stutter heavily for about a minute at the longest, before stopping and repeating again later. Its been really impacting my experience with The Bunker and Machine for pigs, my only real guess is my hardware since this wasn't present when I played the Dark Descent and haven't played it on my current rig. I've tried the Stream="True" fix and compatibility mode and messing with the graphical settings for Machine for Pigs and its never fixed the issue at all so far. I've haven't tried the same fixes for The Bunker but it also has the same issue of heavy stutters and since it didn't do anything for AAMFP I doubt it'd work for it. Does anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this?

My GPU is a RTX 5080 if it helps

When Hazel turned fifteen she had lived three years longer than doctor Tate had foreseen. Her parents had given up from exhaustion and decided to have her committed for permanent treatment at Canterbury Hospice, but she was still alive. She had embraced him and wished him a grand adventure in Algeria.

An animation I made a couple years ago. I am thankful for receiving voice acting help from Daniel's axtor and my friend TeyiusTeki <3

ez shell shock amnesia the bunker

Post image

it's so awesome game. I just finished shell shock mode. intresting things: monster arrive in front of you when you run somewhere, rats walks( it gets easyer or harder because they leave dead bodies), monster is stupid to blow by himself. I found 6 grenades, 6 or 7 fuel, 2 bottles with fuel, 4 Medkits 5 Bandages. monster destroyed my door at the first 5 mins.

if you're gonna play shell shock you should know you can run away, there's some closed doors where it's not supposed to be. you need key from pillbox, pliers and wrench right now. use 1 fuel to checkpoint and have 2 fuel at the same time, and dont checkpoint for nothing. for example get key for pillbox and checkpoint if you are not brave enough. lockers are in different rooms, maybe in changing room maybe in prison. dead bodies are in different rooms too I think. you need find extra soldier if you want to get into fuel storage. there's some places monster can't get through(vent in mission storage, hole in arsenal). this is it I think, good luck)

Just beat Shell Schock, it was surprisingly easy

Post image

Last night i decided to give Shell Schock a try and besides me shitting my pants a few times at the beginning of the run, I found it surprisingly easy.

The beginning of the run was the most diffcult. Finding enough tools to be able to ward off the beast and enough fuel so i can save and power up the generator was a bit of a resource management challenge. Once i got enough tools, the game became surprisingly easy, i had so much fuel, grenades and ways to distract the Stalker. The most challenging part was Maintenance. Everytime i wanted to do something in the big open room, i ran to the pillbox and stayed there until the beast was gone.

Overall, i actually found it easier than hard due to the totally predictable nature of the stalker. It felt as if it was constantly tied by an invisible chain to me. In hard mode, i actually had moments where i had to make some pretty difficult decisions. And make a run for it. But here, i knew there was a hidden timer that would force a confrontation. So i either had to run to the safe room to reset the A.I or in one of the areas the stalker can't reach. After a while it felt far more like a resource manager over a horror game.

The things i did like though and i will 100% use on any future playthrough. Are the randomized lockers. The lock on the fuel storage made no difference to me as i actually never used it. The fuses were also amazing. There were moments where I backtracked just to look for a fuse and i felt such relief when i found one. I was also lucky enough to find the gas mask and trivialize the shotgunner. I just knew where he was, threw a grenade and went on

I enjoyed it. If i had to simplify it would be

Shell Schock:

Explore->Gather-> Predictable Confrontation->Hide or choose resources to defend yourself->repeat

Hard:

Explore->Gather->Random confrontation->Adapt->Move on->repeat

Did i enjoy it? Yes. I did. Even though this was only my 3rd run (i also did a very easy speed run but i don't count this). I felt confident enough to tackle it on. There were plenty of resources and tools to trivialize the game later on. If Frictional makes another game with a super hard difficulty. I only hope they ramp up the actual unpredictability of the stalker, than making it an omnipresent roadblock.

I'd have actually finished it way earlier if i didn't get getting stuck at the beginning, due to the stalker emerging and me having no way to reliably deal with it, thus forcing me to load my last save.

Is the "low sanity" monstrous picture on the right supposed to be "who Alexander really is inside" or is it supposed to be the Shadow?
