Can we rent a car in Faro without credit card?

We are travelling to Faro soon and we would like to explore the region with a car. But we don't have a credit card and are also not planning to get one. Can we still rent a car in Faro without a credit card? Are there any workarounds?

Hotel + Must See’s

Hello :) I am traveling to Portugal in September with my husband for our anniversary (29F 34M)

Looking for place to stay in Algarve. We were ideally wanting to use points for Hyatt and I noticed there is a Hyatt in Vilamoura. I was not sure if it would be recommended or if there is any alternatives that are 150-200$ a night.

Would also like to have a list of any exceptional places to see or foods to eat or excursions. I am a big foodie and love a quality meal. I also love coffee, water activates, and overall good time.

We will have a car to get around.

Any recommendations are appreciated thank you!

Alvor Swimming Pool's?

Hi everyone.

Is there any pool open to swim in near central Alvor? I can't train in the gym at the moment due to injury.

I am being told the public pool is closed for August?

Obviously happy to pay.

Local golf trip companies?

Greetings. I'm looking to book a golfing trip next year for a large group and will be using a tour agency to help.

Are there any local businesses that people would highly recommend? Would be keen to give the business here and avoid something random online!

Ajuda escolher zona para as Férias

Boa noite pessoal do Reddit!!

Beaches with sun bed rentals in or around Lagos? Here with 3 kids so the sun beds make our beach days much less stressful!

Benagil caves tour paddle time?

Coming with my friend in September and I’m DYING to do a kayak tour in the benagil caves!! My friend has a sensitive shoulder and is worried about rowing time.. how much of a 2 hour tour is spent actually paddling the kayaks? I also figure we can get a tandem so it’s a bit less pressure. Thanks!!

Tips on where to stay in the Algarve Portugal area?

I am spending a week in the area. I fly into Faro and I am renting a car. My plan is to first head to Lagos and spend 4 nights there. Plan to check out different beaches. I may try to taxi/uber to NosoloAgua in Portimao one day because that looks like a vibe I would enjoy. Then I have 4 days to stay in another area. I am looking for suggestions.

I am a male in my late 30s. I want to have a fun night life scene where it is easy to mingle with people. I don’t want to be in areas where it’s just restaurants and people not looking to socialize. I know the Albufeira strip is full of 20 year old Brits so I want to avoid that but ideally looking for something similar to that but a little bit of an older crowd. I will prob check it one night just cause though. Appreciate any insight of suggestions.

Acesso a piscinas no algarve

Algarve in late Oct/Early Nov ?

Looking to do a holiday in Algarve in Late Oct/Early Nov. So wanted to ask a few questions here. I will be traveling with a 10 month old baby and my wife for a very low effort, slow paced relaxing vacation

  1. How is the IHG Kimpton Algarve, the staff, amenities, food ? Looking for mostly a relaxing resort stay, spa day, good food (I heard some reports here that the staff is rude ?)
  2. Whats there to do for surrounding day trips ?
  3. How is medical care for babies in the area in case we need to visit a doctor for emergencies
  4. How is Algarve/Portugal for tourists ? Mostly worried about racism as I am Indian/person of color
  5. How is the vibe/weather at that time of the year ? Don't want it to be too cold
  6. Vegetarian food in Algarve and the IHG Kimpton ?

Obrigada

First time in Portugal – hoping to meet a Portuguese family on 1 August 🇵🇹

Hello everyone,

My name is Louis, I am a French engineering student currently doing an international engineering mobility programme in southern Spain.

I will be visiting Portugal for the very first time on 1 and 2 August. My plan is to discover the Algarve, especially around Lagos, Benagil, Praia da Marinha, Carvoeiro, Silves or São Bartolomeu de Messines, depending on where I stay.

During the day, I would like to explore the coast, the beaches, the cliffs and some local towns. But for the evening of 1 August, I would really love to experience something more authentic than simply staying alone in a hotel.

It would be amazing to meet a Portuguese family, share a meal, talk about everyday life, learn more about Portuguese culture and spend a friendly evening together. If it were also possible to stay for one night, that would be incredibly kind.

Of course, I do not expect anything for free. I can pay for my food and contribute towards the night if necessary. My main goal is really to meet local people, exchange stories and discover Portugal in a more human and genuine way, while still continuing my trip and visiting the rest of the Algarve the following day.

A little about me: I am an engineering student, and I am very interested in aviation, travelling and discovering new cultures. I also love sport, especially handball, running and swimming. I am respectful, calm, curious and easy-going.

I speak French and English, and I am a beginner in Spanish. I do not speak Portuguese yet, but I would be very happy to learn a few words.

I will have a rental car, so I am flexible and can travel around the region. Ideally, this would be somewhere around Lagos, Carvoeiro, Benagil, Silves or São Bartolomeu de Messines, but I can adapt if needed.

Even just meeting for dinner, a coffee or a friendly evening would already mean a lot to me.

Thank you very much for reading, and please feel free to send me a private message so we can talk first.

Louis 🇫🇷
