Paul's Pizza Content

All Paul's Pizza content will be removed moving forward. The conversations almost always lead to people arguing with one another on the internet. This violates Rule #3 Be Civil. It would also violate rule #4 low quality content.

Support the business or do not. It's your choice. Arguing on this online community will no longer be allowed.

Cheers,

MOST OF THE ANIMALS I'VE SEEN IN THE PAST TWO YEARS AROUND THESE CANALS SPECIFICALLY, ARE AS FOLLOWS:

BIRDS:

-Great Blue Herons (at least 3 spotted in 2025, none in 2026 that I've seen)

-Common Mallards (both years, ducklings in 2025 not 2026 that I've seen)

-Canada Geese (both years, no goslings either year)

-Harlequin Ducks (both years in mid spring, no ducklings)

-Red-Winged Black Birds (both years, nests in cattail areas)

-Common Grackles (both years)

-Ravens (all year round, are nesting on a 5G tower nearby)

-Crows (all year round)

-Magpies (all year round)

-Robins (mid spring)

-House Sparrows (invasive, all year round)

-Chickadees (all year round, not as common)

-Northern Flicker (once in early spring 2026)

-Owls (potentially snowies; two, very briefly, middle of winter, snowing slightly at like 3am, they were on-top of a light post and screaming)

- Arctic Turn (as fuzzily pictured above, we got at least 1 Arctic Turn who's way off course, hunting for fish in the canals. Potentially a pair with a nest nearby)

MAMMALS:

-Minks (at least two, seen both years, briefly in spring, found one deceased unfortunately)

-Beavers (both years, had dams in the canals here)

-Nutria (Either seen one a few times or multiple individuals)

-Skunk (once in early fall of 2025)

-Mice (don't know what kinds)

-Foxes (2026, have heard two, one female, one male. Saw the male near the train tracks late last night a few nights ago, a very loud and horny man lol)

-Coyotes (only heard in mid spring 2025)

AMPHIBIANS:

-Wood Frogs

INSECTS:

-Native Bumblebees

-Carpenter Bees

-Yellowjackets

-Bottle Flies

-Horse Flies

-Invasive European Honeybees

-Damselflies (in at least 3 different colour varieties)

-Dragonflies (in at least 4 different colours varieties. Red with black underbelly pictured above)

-Mosquitos (annoying but important)

-Wasps

-Ant-Mimicking Wasp

-Ichneumon Wasp

-Rock centipedes

-Ants (got a bunch of types, big mounds on either side, you can witness the crows engaging in a behavior called "anting" where they will roll around on the mounds and the ants will come up and eat the feather lice on their bodies! All feathers found have evidence of feather lice)

-Moths (mostly Native Ermine Moths, but also naturalized moths like above and a bunch of others I can't identify)

-Butterflies (many butterflies, most common are invasive Cabbage Whites but have seen plenty of native ones as well)

-Weevils (not 100% sure but likely canola-cabbage seedpod weevils or beanpod weevils)

-Ladybugs

ARACHNIDS:

-Cat-faced Orbweavers

-Fishing Spiders

-Grass Spiders

-Jumping Spiders (predominantly Zebra Jumpers but have seen at least 1 other type of jumping spider)

FISH:

-Mosquito Fish

-(A few others I cannot identify)

OTHER INVERTS:

-Isopods

-Leech

-Snails

-Slugs

-Earthworms

When it comes to flora and fungi, I don't know as much so feel free to add those in the comments and any other lil critter you've seen in our canal systems here!

Anyway, we got a garbage problem in and around our canal systems, so let this be a call to action in using your free time to help your community be cleaner and help protect this blossoming ecosystem that's in our literal backyards! If you got a canoe or kayak, I implore you to get into the water and clean up the garbage that's caught in the reeds and grasses. And that every time you walk by, you clean up just ONE piece of trash and throw it away in one of the trashcans nearby or pocket it and throw it out somewhere else that's appropriate!

By doing something little like that, we can increase the biodiversity of our ecosystems. Humans were put on this planet to aid it and its' animals, let's all do our tiny part! Go for a nature walk and see what I see. Teach your children that even the smallest life is invaluable and without them, it can cause disastrous ecological collapse and that taking care of these places and it's animals brings fulfillment, knowledge and empathy!

Thank you in advance! (And thank you for reading!)

Got tired of clunky AHS pages, so I built a free real-time Alberta hospital tracker. It calculates drive times + ER wait times to find the fastest path to care.

Hey Airdrie!

Volunteers are still needed for The Doin It On the Grass Classic car show on August 8th, hosted by Time Travellers Car Club of Airdrie

This is one of the funnest events in Airdrie each summer and a great volunteer opportunity for everyone, but particularly anyone who loves classic cars!

This is the 25h anniversary of this annual show and the organizers are working hard to bring in the max of 500 cars into the park! To run an event this large, and this fun, volunteers play a HUGE role!

Solo volunteers must be 16+. Youth over 12 may volunteer with a guardian. Volunteers under 18 will require a guardian to sign a waiver.

You are welcome to sign up for multiple shifts.

Sitting in the registry parking lot

Wife is in line at the vehicle registration office. I stayed in the car... Just watching...

Just How??? Amazing how bad people are at basic driving functions. And it's older people. Not kids taking tests.

Can't back into spots... Jesus, one lady couldn't even figure out how to park straight in the middle cause they are arrow shaped spots. LMAO!!

We need a rcmp officer just sitting, watching at the door who can just confiscate licenses at entry. LOL

AI Data Centers

Synapse is planning a 10-building campus in the northeast corner of Olds, AB with a total of 1.4 gigawatts of gas-fired power generation — about enough to power the City of Edmonton. It will include 1.8 gigawatts of emergency and backup diesel generation.

This is just up the road from us. What do the people of Airdrie think about this? What if someone said we’re getting an AI Data Center in Airdrie?

Where can I find Euros?

Called CIBC today and they don’t keep on hand, must be ordered through their website or app.

I’m looking for a small amount (one hundred euros) for a friend’s birthday. Any tips on where I can find them locally? Trying to avoid the drive to Calgary. Thanks!

Upcoming Mobile Coffee Shop

Hi all,

My name is Majesta and I’ll be starting a mobile coffee trailer in Airdrie. I’m putting my info out there to hopefully get some traction on a location I can park M-F. Ideally a parking lot.

I’ve reached out to several places around town, and the ones with space don’t accommodate food trailers, which I understand.

Ideally, this would be in the style of Pacific Northwest coffee where folks can drive up and order through the window.

If you have any location suggestions or are a business owner interested in hosting a fun coffee spot, let me know!

Thanks!

(I’ve already reached out to Walmart, Chevron, Home Depot, Genesis Place, and gotten hard “No”s from them or didn’t hear back at all. Also I am aware of bylaws and AHS requirements, so just hoping for some help finding a location in town)

Job opportunities for a teenager ?

Hi everyone, Im looking to get a job ( As a teenager, for safety and just for pers reasons I wont state my exact age but im under 16). Im fairly new to this town and Im looking for any good available jobs . I would say im good with interacting with people and most would say Im goodspoken and polite. I can keep this act for a long period of time. And any jobs that can pay a good decent amount. Most of my friends would call me talkative so Im looking for any available server/fast food cashier jobs ( like local restaurants) that are hiring teenagers who has no real job experience service. I have honors, and starting cadets soon and helped / managed my friends business as a kid growing up so I can do multiple things at the same time.

Just looking for any jobs for this summer and next summer! And Im not really sure if this can count as a Job hosting so yup!

Meadowbrook middle school

As a student at this school I suggest finding a different middle school to go to. It is absolutely nauseating that the teachers do absolutely nothing about bullying. For example, I got rocks thrown at me and my best friend and told the tecahers yet they didn't try to resolve the issue and it kept happening throughout the whole year.

They also claim to me a safe environment and yet take no action to ensure that homophobia is not an issue. I have a girlfriend and when students and even teachers found out they would look at me in disquist

Additionally, there have been many girls who feel unsafe using the washroom a as many of us have found cameras hidden in there and have told the teachers yet they still keep getting found.

Not to mention the teachers, specifically a teacher names Mrs Naugler are absolutely horrible. Mrs Naugler has gotten a kid in trouble for accidentally knocking over something on her desk (a pencil holder) causing pencils to go everywhere and instead of being nice and calm about its she screamed at him and called him useless. Me and my best friend went to the principal about it and no action was taken and she only got worse. She also doesn't teach. Instead she will hand us a textbook and a worksheet on something we have nwveeeven heard about while she plays games at her desk of whatever tf she is doing over there. I can't say this for all teachers but ten vast majority of the teachers there are absolutely miserable to have.

Of course there are some good teachers like Mr Scott and Mrs Marose (sorry if I spelt that wrong) but they are egood in the sense of doing the bare minimum.

It's no wonder that the students here are starting online school the school is aweful.

Not to mention the teachers being ABSOLUTE a-holes to the students with mental dissabilities. I have ADHD and my best friend has Autism and the teachers barely do anything to help us. Not to mention Mrs Alibi who took away her Autism headphones or whatever they are called. The same sub also purposly calls on the kid with dyslexia to read it the class knowing damn well he has dyslexia.

I could go on but you get the point. If I need to I will post about this toxic learning environment some idiots decided to call a school.

Don't send you're kids here. Literally any other school is better
