Hi all. I have a small personalised magnet business. Just now, I upload customer photos into a template I created in Canva. I print them out, and press them in my machine, or cut out flexible ones by hand. I find I have numerous image quality issues in Canva, and can't edit the pics to a standard I am happy with for brightness, sharpness etc. I want to move the whole work flow to Affinity. This would mean recreating my templates in affinity and I don't know where to start! I've attached images of some examples of what I need to recreate. Can anyone tell me if this is an easy process, or I'm worrying about nothing? I have minimal design experience.

All my files disappeared when I exited out of Live Files. How can I save my files so they're not deleted?

I've been trying for some time now to apply a repeating pattern to an image, but every time I do, it gives me this result:

When I try to do it with Styles, I click on the object and then the style, but nothing changes at all.

Is this a known bug, a problem with my settings, or am I just missing a step? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In illustrator you can see the printable area by making the tiling visible. Is there something like that in Affinity?

Does anyone here know of a way to connect text boxes so that one will overflow into another? I have a numbered list that I need to have continue in another column but I can't seem to make it behave in the way I want it to. Is this something I can do in designer or do I need to switch my project to publisher?

I have a scanned image of a block of wood. How would I import it into affinity to match up perfectly with its actual dimensions?

I want it on a 8.5x11 canvas and I want it to be its actual size of the wood represented on that canvas.

I work with a large creative team, and a significant portion of our time is spent adapting Key Visuals into multiple graphic formats.

Each campaign Key Visual is typically adapted into at least eight different sizes. The messaging, imagery, and branding remain exactly the same, the only things that change are the canvas size, layout, and positioning of the elements.

Today, our entire creative production workflow is built around Adobe applications (mainly Photoshop).

I'm looking for a way to use AI to speed up this adaptation process. I've tested several workflows using Claude and ChatGPT. The results are promising (quality around 90%), but not reliable enough for production. We work with premium brands, so every asset must meet a very high quality standard before it can be published.

Here are some of the approaches I've tested:

1. Uploading the original PSD file.
2. Uploading the Key Visual as a PNG.
3. Uploading the individual design assets as separate PNG files.

Has anyone successfully built a workflow for this?

I'm especially interested in:

• Workflows that preserve layout quality and visual hierarchy.
• Real production experiences rather than demos.

Any recommendations or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated!

I want to:

(a) connect the two broken lines (at the top and at the base of the crane). Moving the nodes on top of each other visually worked, but obviously this isn't the ideal solution.. I couldnt get the curves to join properly as one.

(b) remove the 3 pairs of diagonal bars in the crane. Simply removing the nodes in the center that make up the diagonal bars lead to the entire area to be filled in the fillColor, so I think the approach to solve this properly is to remove the superfluous nodes in the middle and change the fill mode but again I failed miserably.

Can someone please point me in the right direction what I have to do? For even a moderately experienced designer, I'm sure this takes just 2 minutes but I feel so lost when trying to merge the nodes properly.

J'étais en train de faire une fausse carte du jeu Zenith (que je recommande !) pour faire une surprise à mon conjoint, et les calques du personnage que j'étais en train de dessiner se sont transformés en amas de rectangles violets. Impossible de revenir en arrière. J'ai peu d'espoir quant au fait de retrouver le design ... Mais dans le doute, quelqu'un a t'il une explication à ce qu'il vient de se passer ? Et éventuellement une solution ?

I created a character style specifically so I could capture and re-apply a nice color I had inadvertently come up with while designing my front cover. I want to use the same color of text on the rather long blurb on my back cover. The blurb is already there, but now I want to change the color of the text to match the same color of the text on my front cover.

I thought I could do this, after creating the character style based on the text with the desired color characteristic, highlighting the target text that makes up my blurb, by applying the style I just created.

But nowhere do I find the option to "apply style" under the text menu. There's a "re-apply style" but that's not what I want and choosing that option automatically applies some style I've never seen before and certainly is not the one I just created.

So what am I missing? I haven't put blood into trying to figure this out yet, but I've put sweat and tears. I need help. If anyone can give me this help, I thank you.

This is for doing the spine of a book cover. I figured out how to manually rotate my text box, but I either over or under shoot the 90 degree mark by a degree or so. I've tried over and over, but I can't get it to exactly 90 degrees.

I know there must be a way that does not rely on manual dexterity, but I just have not been able to find it/figure it out.

Whenever I try to move objects in Canvas, affinity sometimes snaps to nearby objects and sometimes completely forgets to do that. is there any setting (don't forget) that i have to turn on?

it seems like i can cut just fine, i can select what i cut off and move it away from the other piece of the picture, but for some reason everything is just invisble??? couldnt find any resources on how to fix.
