my son signed up in January for some online grad classes. Then he changed his mind and dropped them all.But one withdrawal didn't take, apparently. ASU was messaging him in his student portal, which he wasn't checking because he wasn't taking classes.

Now they're chasing him for about 3500, and sent him a letter. he called the phone number in the letter, to be bounced around multiple different departments for hours, to be told finally when he spoke with a person that they couldn’t help him. ASU is now threatening to send this to collections. Is there anyone who can help him? He didn’t take this class --he never even logged into the course. We can’t seem to get anyone on the phone who can help resolve this.

Man, I just need to share a massive win because I’m honestly so relieved. I just got official word that my Medical Compassionate Withdrawal (MCW) requests for my 2022 terms were approved in literally one day.

Back in 2022, life completely derailed on me. I was dealing with severe medical issues, fighting through active alcoholism, and trying to hold things together while my grades completely tanked. It’s been a massive, heavy weight hanging over my head for years trying to figure out how to clean the slate and move forward.

I pulled together all my documentation, medical records, and a thorough personal letter laying out the raw truth about what went down. including the battle with alcohol and the health crisis that caused everything to collapse and submitted the whole packet Honestly, I was stressing that because it has been 4 years, because of the nature of addiction, they'd just brush it off, stall, or give me a hard time about the timeline. But they actually read everything I provided, looked at the real, human situation, and pushed it through immediately.

Shoutout to the team over there for handling it so fast and letting me finally get past that chapter of my life. It feels completely unreal to have those failing grades converted to non-punitive "W"s so my cumulative GPA isn't getting dragged down anymore by a year where I was genuinely sick and struggling to survive.

If anyone is sitting on old medical documentation or dealing with things like addiction and health crises from back then, and you're stressing about whether it's worth trying to fix your transcript, don't give up. Put together a real, detailed, honest narrative with your documentation and submit it. ASU actually came through for me way faster than I ever expected, and it feels damn good to have a clean path forward to finish what I started.

I just finished setting it up after transitioning from Handshake and it just seems too all over the place. It certainly does not help that it mostly matches me with jobs completely unrelated to my degree even after 100% completing my profile.

I go to ASU and have the Barack Obama Scholarship and the New American University Provost Scholarship. Yesterday, I switched from the maroon meal plan to the Gold meal plan to save about nine hundred and twenty five dollars. Before the change, my balance was around two thousand nine hundred and eighty three dollars, and now it shows a ninety three dollar balance due. The meal plan isn’t listed in the current charges breakdown. I don’t have any other outside scholarships. I’m wondering if my financial aid recalculated and is covering this or if my account’s just still updating. Has anybody else seen this happen, and if so, how long did it take to finalise?

I assume I’m paying the total $3,980.00 which I found rather odd due to coming from a low income household. My father is the sole provider in a 5 person household and makes less than $70k which I receive no financial support from. I live on my own with a low income job as well. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hey yall I’m a transfer student coming from Mesa CC and this fall semester will be my first at ASU. I kinda need some advice regarding study areas in particular some places yall recommend if the libraries get rowdy or crowded. I also would like some input regarding how campus life is and how easy or hard it is to make friends/get to know new people. Community college wasn’t as easy to make connections as it’s a commuter school although I have made a couple of good friends there and would say I’m pretty sociable. Also any good food spots I should be aware of as well? I’m not picky. Thanks for the input

I’m planning on transferring from a CA junior college to ASU in the spring. My concern is my first few semesters at JC aren’t very impressive and have tanked my GPA. Even after my recent semester and two summer classes that I have just finished, my GPA still sits below the 2.5 out of state threshold.
I’m wondering if after my fall semester, most likely sitting around or above a 2.75, if it’s likely I’m still admitted in time for spring and if finding a place to live will be difficult. I have emailed with an admissions advisor but really haven’t gotten any helpful results.

Hello! I'm entering my final year at ASU as a Mathematics (Stats) major. I currently work FT in an office where I can set my own schedule. My bosses are supportive of me finishing up my schooling. In Fall '26, I'll be dropping my hours from 40 to 30 a week, just to keep my health insurance.

I'm worried about my future courses, though. I was supposed to take MAT 300 for Summer '26, session B, but the course was cancelled due to lack of enrollments, which screwed the courses I wanted to take in the future.

Below is my future plan regarding my courses as of now:

Are these courses manageable for someone like me? I had spoken to my advisors about the possibility of taking some of my required courses during Summer '27, and they had told me to not count on those courses being available during the summer.

Their response to my original inquiry:

"The Summer 2027 course schedule is expected to be published in March 2027, so we will not know the official course offerings until then.

That said, based on historical summer schedules, SoMSS typically does not offer Upper Division Advanced MAT/STP courses during the summer. While course offerings can change from year to year depending on factors such as enrollment and instructor availability, it is not recommend to plan on completing one of your Upper Division Advanced course requirements during Summer 2027.

This may not be ideal, but you could consider the following future schedule:

Of the two potential schedules, what would be best for me? I was wanting to avoid taking extra courses during Fall '27 to not risk issues with courses during my final semester that would further push back my graduation. If those UD courses were available during summer, I wouldn't be worried, but now I have to take more than 2 classes a semester, which is not ideal, but it is what it is.

Is there anyone who can speak to how hard any of these courses are? Any scheduling ideas?

I’m an incoming freshman at ASU Tempe and have been applying to on-campus jobs through Workday, but I’ve already been rejected from multiple positions.

I have several years of customer service experience, a solid resume/CV, and I qualify for Federal Work Study, so I thought I’d have a decent chance.
Is it just extremely competitive, or am I doing something wrong?

Also, are all on-campus jobs only posted through Workday, or are there other places I should be looking? It feels like there aren’t that many openings.

Okay, I am trying to join the marching band as a future freshman starting this fall however I am dealing with some pains between my summer admission counselor and the Head Director could anyone please direct me as to what form I need to fill out so I can join the class. I have already filled out the Gold Form if that helps at all. Also do I need to reach out to housing to request early move-in or is that done by the band office after you are enrolled in the class? It seems that every time I contact the Head Director I get more confused of the process.

I'm looking for a career switch and am super passionate about the marine sciences. However, I really need online classes as opposed to in-person because I still have to hold down a 9-5 job. ASU's marine science degrees seem great (and have that online option!), but I'm just wondering, how do you do classes in a landlocked state? Do you have in-person labs at smaller bodies of water? I did 1 oceanography class and 1 marine bio class back in undergrad, and our professors were constantly taking us around the Peninsula for labs, so the "hands-on" aspect was always covered. And hell, how do labs look for your online classes, if anyone is in those specifically?

Anyway, I appreciate any responses! I apologize if this sounds condescending or dumb at all, it's just me trying to understand a learning environment I'm not used to.
