Discussion RX 9070 XT Challenger died.

Upvotes

Got artifacting. Now the PC won't boot at all unless I completely disconnect the card and use motherboard graphics. The retailer won't help me; tells me to contact ASRock support. ASRock support ignores me. I have no options, I saved up for a year to buy this GPU.

I will never be buying ASRock again.

Discussion Taichi Lite Warning

While under minimal stress “YouTube” my Taichi Lite Mobo X870E fried my 9800X3D popping up a 00 error code. After testing all my components in other systems my mobo ate the dust and took my CPU with it. Never again will I use an ASRock board… Lesson learned.

Question M.2 SSD not recognized at the bios level

Motherboard: PHANTOM GAMING X870 Riptide WiFi

Not recognized SSD: Crucial T500 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD with heatsink

Background:
I've built this PC ~2 years ago and it never recognized the mentioned SSD in the primary M2_1 Slot, luckily I have a samsung SSD as well which is being recognized even though I use it in a separate slot and my original intention was to have that as a secondary SSD.
It's not showing up in BIOS, Windows/disk formatter
I've tried reseating the SSD but nothing changed. I am hoping that this is somehow a configuartion I missed somewhere?

The SSD itself was acquired brand now at the time and it was never used esentially.

Question The computer won't turn on after the power went out during a thunderstorm.

I was shutting down my computer because a thunderstorm was rolling in. The "Shutting down" message was already on the screen when the monitor suddenly went dark and the fans stopped; I didn't worry about it—I just unplugged everything from the wall, switched off the power supply unit (PSU), and disconnected the power cable from it. Two hours later, the computer won't start—neither via the power button nor by shorting the pins. The PSU itself is working fine and powers up other computers.

I tried taking out the BIOS battery, but it didn't help. I don't know what to do—please help.

Tech Support PC sometimes not responding when entering sleep mode with Ryzen X3D processor

For 1-2 months now, I've had this issue where my PC doesn't respond in sleep mode. The PC goes to sleep, my screen is black and moving my mouse or using my keyboard does nothing. Even pressing the power button does nothing.

Sometimes, when I lock my PC and go get something to eat, when I come back either the PC froze like I told you, or it simply shut down.

This is quite annoying and I don't have any idea what's the issue. I have an OLED monitor so sleep mode is important, but maybe I'll just put a timer for the screens to turn off but don't put my PC in sleep mode.

I know there were some issues with X3D Ryzen processor and Asrock motherboards, should I upgrade my bios version ?

Specs :

  • Ryzen 9800X3D
  • 32GB DDR5 ram
  • Sapphire 9070 XT
  • ASRock B650I Lightning WiFi
  • 850W platinum Corsair SFX power supply

Edit : I just checked my windows power plan options, my monitor auto-sleep is set to 3 minutes and my computer auto-sleep is set to NEVER. So I don't know what's happening

Tech Support Help no WiFi

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys I recently just bought the 3 in 1 bundle from microcenter with the Asrock B850M-C, 16 GBs of DDR5 ram, and the Ryzen 5 7500X3D I also have a 3070 1 tb of storage and I’m running on windows 11. When I setup my computer the WiFi doesn’t even come up as an option. I downloaded the chipset drivers for the bios, I downloaded the most recent WiFi drivers, I reset my network, I downloaded straight from Realtek and I restarted my computer several times. I don’t know what’s going on and obviously I have the antennas attached I don’t know really what to do anymore and the WiFi just doesn’t popping up. There is a code 28 error for network controller in my device manager and that’s the closest I can understand because none of the drivers I download are working as well as no WiFi options at all in the network connections. I appreciate any kind of help.

It was running greatly for the past 2 years on BIOS 3.01 (2024) and 3.40 (2025). Updated to 4.20 last month and it's dead today.

I'll be sending both the CPU and motherboard for RMA. Fingers crossed.

Tech Support X670E Pro RS lights up for a split second when powered on. BIOS Flashback seems to be working?

Welp. Looks like it's my turn. After 2 years of happily using this platform, i woke up in the morning staring at my PC with no LED lights (*gasp*). Thought it might have gone to sleep/hibernated. Pressed the power button and my computer refused to start. It lights up for a split second before the power cuts off.

I've taken apart everything, leaving only the motherboard (ASRock X670E Pro RS BIOS 4.20), CPU (AMD Ryzen 7950X3D) and PSU (Super Flower Leadex II Gold 1000W from 10 years ago). I looked under my CPU, there are no spots nor burn marks. I looked on the socket pins, it's clean. Sniffed around for any burnt smell and blown caps, none that I can find. The result is, unfortunately, the same. Powered on for a split second, and then it dies again.

Except there's one weird thing. I've been looking around this sub and one thing I noticed is that everyone still have their LED lights. I don't. Not even my RGB lights, which should be lit up after clearing CMOS and leaving the battery out for many minutes. However, the BIOS Flashback seems to be working. I pressed it for 3 seconds as usual, waited for the flashing until it eventually goes solid green (I didn't put the USB stick in).

To me, that sounds like my motherboard is probably fine and the PSU have enough juice. But what if it doesn't have enough juice? I decided to swap in with my old AM4 motherboard. It turns on normally.

So now I'm stumped. Which part of my computer died? It's probably both the motherboard and CPU but what if the PSU simply no longer have the juice to power up an X670E chipset with a 7950X3D? (Extreme copium, I know.) I'll try to find a friend with an AM5 socket to try the CPU. For now, I'll just leave this here so that I can hear your opinions and stories of similar experiences.

Tech Support New PC Build Issues

AS Rock B850M-X
AMD ryzen 5 9600x 6-core CPU
Gigabyte Geforce RTX 5070 GPU (I used the adapted cable with 2 separate PCIE cables to the PSU)
X2 Silicon Power DDR5 32GB RAM
Silicon power 1tb UD90 SSD
Montech Century 2 850w GOLD PSU (used cables from PSU)

Built my wife’s PC last night. Everything went good, installed windows etc etc she played on it all evening. Tonight I get power, the fans are spinning and rgb lights are on but has no display output. Have a red CPU light (solid) and a yellow DRAM light (solid).

I’ve pulled CMOS battery twice. Triple checked all cable connections. Reseated GPU, I swapped my RAM to different slots. No USB plugged into the back.

Can anyone give some guidance? From everything I’ve researched online I need a new mobo and cpu and some people said something about amd cpus not being compatible with some as rock mobos. TIA

Discussion Bluetooth fails to find old devices after upgrading hardware

I upgraded my new PC to an ASRock 850m pro rs Wifi with a built in Bluetooth adapter. I connected my old drive to the new PC, and the paired devices were still in the Bluetooth settings. They immediately would fail to connect, and would give a "removal failed" error when I tried to remove them in order to re-pair them.

I then upgraded to Windows 11, got fresh installs off the motherboards website, and removed the devices from Device Manager. Now, the devices are no longer paired, but refuse to show up when I attempt to add a new device.

I have already...

  • Removed the devices via Device Manager
  • Confirmed new drivers are installed via Device Manager
  • Checked that the motherboards Bluetooth is already working on another OS (I dual boot Linux)
  • Restarted the PC several times.

Thank you, I am willing to try anything at this point.

Question 1st time w/AsRock Motherboard - App/Suggestions

Hey All, I recently acquired an SFF build that uses the AsRock B550 Phantom Gaming ITX/ax P2.50 as the motherboard.

I have never had an AsRock board, so I wanted to get opinions on what apps everyone uses with these boards?

I downloaded the drivers and below apps from AsRock’s website but just going thru them for a little bit I am not sure these are any good/useful:
- Motherboard Utility? Not great at a monitoring dashboard, driver update, etc.
- Polychrome RGB - I can’t get this to manage lighting on anything other that’s the mobo leds, which is ok, but was hoping it could manage connected rgb (mem)
- Restart to Uefi - ok this could be useful
- AppShop - haven’t looked into this yet. What is this used for?

Not a fan of standalone apps and such, but do you guys use all these apps?

What other apps are you using to monitor/manage the motherboard?

Tech Support Stuck in BIOS after trying to enable secure boot (B450m/ac)

Hello all, I was trying to enable secure boot on my mobo as I was met with a pop up on valorant saying Vanguard required it. For the longest time I thought my motherboard didn’t have it, but it was never an issue because I thought I didn’t need it for any games. Turns out it does and I just needed to enable it. I looked it up and followed all the steps (pictured) after leaving bios for the first time after disabling CSM and re-entering the bios and leaving for the second time, I was redirected back into the bios and stuck in a loop. Both my drives are detected and this led me to hit (Launch EFI Shell from filesystem device) and I am still stuck in the loop. Any help would be appreciated.

BIOS Won't detect USB stick in bios

Hello, I've searched and seen other people with this similar issue in the past but nothing suggested has worked so I'm trying again in case anything has changed.

I'm trying to update the bios on my B860 Pro RS WiFi. I have a 32GB FAT32 usb stick that I've used to do bios updates at least 5 times in the past on this exact system. However, the stick is no longer detected in the bios (despite being recognised fine in Windows). Instant Flash tells me "No image file detected" and I can't see the USB stick in the list of bootable devices or storage config.

I've tried reformatting the stick to FAT32 and have ensured the ROM file is correct and is in the root of the drive. I've also tried different USB ports on both the front and back panel.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

News ASRock Z890 Pro-A (BIOS 3.31) + Core Ultra 270K: Random performance after warm reboot (200 W / 70 W / 17 W)

Title: Z890 Pro-A (BIOS 3.31) - Random CPU performance after warm reboot

Hi,

I'm experiencing a very strange issue with my ASRock Z890 Pro-A running BIOS 3.31.

Hardware

  • ASRock Z890 Pro-A
  • BIOS 3.31
  • Intel Core Ultra 270K
  • 4x Samsung M323R1GA4DB0-CWM - 8GB - 1 x 8GB - DDR5-5600 MHz - 288-pin DIMM
  • OS: Linux Kernel 7.1
  • Onboard GPU
  • PowerSupply: 750W
  • Kingston NVME 1 TB

After a warm reboot, the CPU randomly starts in one of three different performance states.

To test this, I run the following script after every reboot:

#!/bin/bash
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
stress-ng --cpu 0 --timeout 30s &
sudo turbostat --quiet --show PkgWatt --interval 1 --num_iterations 30

I performed 30 consecutive warm reboots, and the results were:

1101x0111110x1111010x111001101

where:

  • 1 = approximately 200 W package power (expected performance)
  • 0 = approximately 70 W
  • x = approximately 17 W

The governor is always the same, and the workload is identical for every test.

I have already tried:

  • Loading BIOS defaults.
  • Changing the governor between performance and powersave.
  • Enabling/disabling BIOS performance-related options (including Base Frequency Boost).

None of these changes solved the problem.

The CPU simply appears to boot into different performance states at random after a warm reboot.

Has anyone with a Z890 Pro-A (or another ASRock Z890 board) experienced something similar?

Could this be a BIOS 3.31 issue or a firmware initialization problem?

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.Title: Z890 Pro-A (BIOS 3.31) - Random CPU performance after warm rebootHi,I'm experiencing a very strange issue with my ASRock Z890 Pro-A running BIOS 3.31.HardwareASRock Z890 Pro-A

Question So is my Mobo or CPU dead?

Post image
17 Upvotes

So last week my PC worked normaly, I leave the house powering it off and return only for it to show no Display power again. I was running 9800x3d and B850 Steel Legend.

Tried swapping cables, GPUs (was on 7900xt) but nothing seems to do the trick.

Honestly I don't remember the BIOS version (probably the stock one) it was on. But from your experience what would be the cause? Thanks in advance

Discussion X570 Taichi Nvme Shield Missing

I recently bought a X570 Taichi 2nd hand but it did not come with the NVME heatsink shield. I've searched around and can't seem to find the part anywhere. Does anyone know of third party compatible parts or where to find it?

This is my first time with an AsRock motherboard haha

Question Can I install a second M.2 NVMe SSD on this motherboard?

This is the motherboard, (ASRock B650M-CX R2.0) if someone could be kind enough to tell me if I can install a second M.2 SSD on there and point out the spot on the picture, I'd be very grateful. Thank you! I'm not familiar with PC parts and their terminologies, so I can't really understand even though the information is all laid out there

Tech Support Inaccessible BIOS. No manufacturer splash screen.

the issue I'm having is there SEEMS to be no opportunity to enter the BIOS. Whether it be on startup with F-keys or windows advanced startup it always leads to a black screen and I have no manufacturer splash screen. Maybe worth noting is this is a PC from iBUYPOWER.

Hardware:

Asrock B860M-C (BIOS ver. 3.12)

Intel ultra 7 265f

RTX 5070

solutions I've tried:

1.) disabled fast boot in Windows

2.) enter the BIOS via the advanced startup menu (I don't even get the blue menu)

3.) short the CMOS

4.) remove the CMOS battery

5.) Removed boot SSD

6.) BOIS flashback (rejected potentially due to my drive.)

Question Is anyone interested in a Z490 Aqua board in 2026?

I have an entire crate of pc parts left from older eras, even new, an entire office filled with all types of motherboards and graphics cards, Intel and ryzen CPUs aswell. Recently I came across something interesting in storage, an insanely heavy box with “Z490 AQUA” written on it. Turns out this board is limited to 999, I am number 970. The box is 100% filled with every part bagged, heck it looks very new. (All protective films are still on the board, I rawdogged it for a quick 20 seconds with some random i9-10900KF I had laying around. To my surprise it fired right up. Now I dont know what I should do with this board.

Any ideas?

Tech Support fresh pc build stuck at asrock splash screen

Hello,

Yesterday I built a PC with these specs:

Core 7 ultra 270k plus

RTX 5080

32GB kingston beast DDR5 6000mhz

asrock Z890 taichi

nvme samsung 9100 gen 5

corsair HX1000i

And ever since i built it i cannot get past the asrock splash screen, it does not even boot loop it just stays at the splash screen. The motherboard shows error code A2 which according to the manual is that its just searching for bootable drives which is fine, but i cant even get into the bios the keyboard does not work.

Ive tried a different keyboard, reset the cmos using the button at the back and took the battery out even, reseated ram , tried just one stick, took the ssd out, disconnected all usb devices and its still the same issue.

Any help is appreciated ,thank you.
