I just saw this on Catie’s Facebook page. I don’t think she is enjoying the feedback she has gotten from her time on the show… I am not going to say anything negative, because I believe she has probably heard enough negativity about herself to last a lifetime. And to be honest, it is all self-inflicted. But I found her feedback interesting, to say the least.

She describes her friends are successful, driven, sophisticated people who do sophisticated things.

They all agree that Edward is kind, patient and fun. Marissa herself says nobody will ever love her like how Edward does.

One friend described Marissa as a “successful, strong woman. So successful.”

But Edward’s not good enough for her?

They cried with her like she’s dealing with someone really terrible. It was so bizarre. Marissa wants someone successful but still wants to be the alpha. She wants to control what her partner wears, down to accessories. She’s been single for so long, she isn’t willing to give up any control of another person.

Close friends should be kind, loyal, thoughtful, caring, honest, supportive, trustworthy, reliable, etc. The first words friends use to describe you should not be tied to your bank account.

Catie responded to videos on her Instagram where some behavioural health provider reacted to her on the show, pointing out that making out with people is not typical of people with OCD. Here in the Reddit community, many people say she’s misdiagnosed.

In Catie’s video, she started to defend her diagnosis and say that TLC failed to show lots of segments that they did film regarding her OCD and instead just focused on the making out thing. She said that the OCD wasn’t the cause of her wanting to make out with people.

Then people in the comments responded that that was literally what she’d said on TV, and that seemed to be my recollection also. So I went back to episode 1 and listened carefully to what she said:

“I have intrusive thoughts as part of my OCD. When I get drunk, I really wanna make out with everyone I know, especially if I’m in a happy mood or a really bad, insecure mood.”

Two sentences, but I noticed there was a cut away from the talking head between them. I wondered if those two sentences had actually come from completely different points of the conversation. Maybe TLC edited it this way to scandalise her and misrepresent her diagnosis.

To be clear, I’m not defending Catie’s actions on the show in any way. I just think there’s a good chance that Catie’s does actually have OCD but is being intentionally misrepresented on TV.

Catie’s mom’s talking head segments were shocking. I used to be a teacher, including early childhood and special education, and this was like solving a huge piece of the Catie puzzle.

If normal childhood developmental stages and behavior are treated as annoying personal flaws by parents it can lead to serious lifelong issues. It sounds like her needs as a child were treated as a problem, and given her early diagnosis she likely had higher needs than average to start with. It’s not surprising she now seeks affection and uses substances in harmful ways, and doesn’t have a good sense of her needs vs those of others.

I’m not saying this to excuse Catie‘s current behavior or blame her mom entirely. There are always a LOT of factors at play, her parents probably did their best with what they knew and harmful myths about child behavior persist (especially when religion is a factor).

While everyone is laying on the criticism towards Marissa, Edward is defended at every turn going so far as to tell him to “RUN!” Amongst other issues she clearly does not respect him and I want to know why he puts up with it. What does he want? It doesn’t make any sense that he was previously married to an American he divorced because he did not want to live in the US. To top it off his ex-wife alledgedly lives in the DR. Marissa said that she and Edward only got a K-1 fiancé visa because he was initially denied a visitor visa. She also said she never applied to be on 90 Days but rather TLC approached her on Facebook asking her to be cast on the show. Do either of them even want to get married?

This was the feel good moment of the season for me. I really love this because Brandi really stood up. For Rasit and you can tell he really appreciated that and it changed his whole thought about Brandi.

I just saw the posts on the OCD Clinic weighing in on Catie and Josh and wanted to add my piece whether it’s a hot take or not.

Even if you think Catie is terrible, that doesn’t make it appropriate for a mental health business to publicly talk about a specific person based on solely a show especially. You can think she deserves criticism for her actions and still believe a clinic should educate the public without targeting an individual. Those aren’t contradictory. In fact, both things can be true at the same time, Catie should be held accountable for her behavior, and the clinic can still be criticized for the way it handled the situation. If their goal was really to correct misinformation about OCD, they could have done that in a more professional and less personal way.

And honestly, some people on here also need to be careful about how they behave online. yes, anyone who signs up for reality TV should expect a certain amount of public criticism and scrutiny that comes with putting your life on television. But there’s a difference between criticism and relentless attacks. Every week it’s the same comments: she’s so gross, she’s just an alcoholic, I hate her etc.. At some point, it stops being accountability and starts becoming bullying. She has appeared emotionally unstable already, and whether or not you think she deserves sympathy, the sheer volume and intensity of the hate can have serious consequences.

Every time I see these, I think about Paula and her manifestations with her miniature items. I like her and actually think her personality is super cute, even though others don't. Afterall... what else can these be used for????

I was playing a videogame next to my wife when I suddenly hear "my mom lives in my closet" and I just paused and went "I'm sorry what ?" And since then I have been watching with my wife.

She legit asked me a few times if I wanted to watch with her and I turned it down not knowing how hilarious this can be

So I am only on episode 7 so if it gets better then that’s good but I see why Aisha is in the church with the rest of those single broads speaking in tongues and screaming for a man lol. She is so superficial, disrespectful and rebellious and fits the stereotype f American blk women. We are all not delusional land rude like her. She thinks she is all that but has to go to the scamming capital to find a man and that says A lot. She is becoming my least favorite and is fighting for the top spot with Cati who is a little more Annoying and pitiful. If Maxwell marries her he will be miserable and regret it.
