Backstory
Alexander Kent, known as Nuclear Boy, is the son of the notorious Nuclear Man and the revered Supergirl (Kara Zor-El). The tumultuous relationship between his parents began as a love affair but soured when Supergirl discovered that Nuclear Man was serving the malevolent Trigon in a bid to destroy the Justice League. Upon realizing her pregnancy, Supergirl resolved to protect her son from the threat posed by Nuclear Man. To ensure his safety, she entrusted Alexander to Martha and Jonathan Kent, who raised him as their own under the alias "Alexander Kent."
As a child, Alexander struggled with his identity and his Kryptonian abilities. At school, he faced severe bullying, and his inability to control his powers led to a violent incident where he injured a bully severely enough to put him in a coma. This event led to his expulsion and increased isolation.
The Kents finally revealed Alexander's true heritage, explaining that his mother had sent him away to protect him from his father. This revelation exacerbated Alexander's anger and frustration. His uncontrollable powers resulted in further conflict when he accidentally injured Jonathan Kent with his heat vision. Overwhelmed by his emotions and feeling betrayed, Alexander fled from home.
In Metropolis, Alexander's attempts to lead a normal life were interrupted when he saved a girl from an abductor. However, his actions caught the attention of his father, Nuclear Man, who sought to recruit him into his service with Trigon. As the two came face-to-face, Supergirl intervened, leading to a confrontation that left Alexander conflicted and angry. He struggled with feelings of betrayal from both parents and blamed them for his troubled existence.
Supergirl and her allies, including Superman, Superboy, and Supergirl (Ariella), attempted to help Alexander reconcile with his past and his powers. Despite initial resistance and a fierce battle, Ariella’s persistence and empathy eventually led Alexander to a breakthrough. Recognizing that his family did care for him and wanting to overcome his inner turmoil, Alexander began to open up and join the team, though he remained guarded and struggled with his feelings towards his father.
