OFFICIAL r/Westchester Bulletin Board

Welcome to r/Westchester's bulletin board!

Think of this like your town’s bulletin board where you might find ads for tutoring, car detailing, music lessons, furniture for sale, etc. This is the only place in the sub where commercial promotion is allowed.

Rules:

  1. Read the above.
  2. Every top level comment must have a bulletin board-esque feel.
  3. Must be located in Westchester. No virtual services.
  4. Do not post any cell phone numbers. Local business numbers are ok, email is ok, websites are ok, but no mobile. Bots will find it and you will regret posting it. Don’t do it.

Have a question? Message the mods. We’re here to help.

Mount Olympus Diner

I ordered food for pick up and these psychopaths didn’t by default package Marinara sauce with Mozzarella sticks. Who the hell eats Mozzarella sticks without sauce that this is the default option?! This was yesterday and i’m still irked about it.

Omakase

I've been eating sushi for decades but never sat down for Omakase. Time to drop the 100 bucks. Looking for a lower Westchester place. I've heard great things about Sushi by Bou in NR and one of the two places in Ardsley (I don't remember which one). Thanks for the suggestions.

Westchester Temples

Hi what are the best Westchester temples? Currently annoyed with my present one because of a billing dispute. I can afford $150 per month (including building fund, security fee, annual dues, misc) and live in Pleasantville. I am Reform but open to trying different movements. I don't like PCS either.

My priorities are adult education, tikkun olam, and social events. I also appreciate inspiring sermons and a good kiddush. Don't care about religious school or 10 AM canasta.

Thanks!

EDIT: Also, I rent, have a 15 year old car, make less than 60k and am a young adult so don't let the fact that I live in Pleasantville fool you into thinking I'm affluent but just cheap. Open to considering Chabad.

Home insurance South Westchester

Upvotes

Forgive me if this is not the proper forum but my partner and I will be moving to the area and have had a terrible time finding 1. Someone that will underwrite and 2. At a somewhat reasonable cost. I’m not asking for advertisements or DMs trying to sell me stuff but has anyone that’s recently moved to south westchester had a pleasant (or as pleasant as it can be) experience and an outfit you’d recommend for a friend or family member. Thanks for any thoughts opinions on this in advance 🙏.

Making a SAW fan film

Post image
Upvotes

Hello everyone!

Wanted to get on this forum and announce that I'm making a SAW fan film! I call this a "Love Letter" film Since I'm not copying SAW 1-1 And of making my own twist on things and am leading towards a "Batman Arkham knight" route.

I am currently directing, Writing and producing this on a micro budget!

Was heavily inspired by the Batman Arkham knight "The Perfect Crime" side quests to bring more of a "Creepy" atmosphere and to essentially make my own "John Kramer" Ive also been working on my own props for this film! Like a reverse beartrap to keep the industrial gritty and mechanical feel the original SAW movies had!

If anyone would like to help ill be open to it! Works in New Rochelle

If you'd like to follow along the journey! My IG is @ leoninemisbegotten

Multi Brand Car Dealer Recs

Hubs and I are looking to get a new car (likely Smaller/mid sized SUV) in the next month or so. Open to leasing new or purchasing certified preowned 2023 or newer.

We looked at Mazda and went to the Yonkers location by ridge hill (not within, closer to cross county) and the sales person was great—but we’re not decided on Mazda/the CX-50 and want to try some different options.

Does anyone have any recommendations for multi-brand dealerships locally to lower westchester where we can sit inside/test drive some different options? Most interested to see some lexus models, Toyotas, and Hondas but honestly open to suggestions as well for any newer model cars that offer a premium leather interior and will last us + our dog a while.

Thinking of moving to Westchester

Upvotes

I just got a new job in rye. I commute from rockland and the am commute isn’t the issue since I have to get there before 8:30. But coming back it takes over an hour for what’s supposed to be a half hour commute for me. It’s thankfully hybrid and I only have to be in office for 3 days but that’s still 3+ hours of my week gone. I don’t have too much saved up but definitely enough where I can move out to Westchester- any advice and where I should move to? 24F btw thanks in advance

Bicycle Sundays...

...how do they work???

I'm a brand new cyclist interested in trying it out, can I just hop on any entrance ramp? Are there places to turn around or do you have to exit/get back on?

Is design-build actually worth it for a luxury renovation in Westchester?

We're planning a major renovation in Westchester that includes a kitchen remodel, primary suite addition and updates throughout the house.

Most of the higher-end firms we've met with use a design-build model, while others recommend hiring an architect and contractor separately. For those who've completed a substantial renovation in Westchester, was design-build worth it?

We're primarily focused on quality, communication and execution rather than finding the lowest bid. Would love to hear from anyone who's gone through a similar project.

Warning: Terrible experience at Westchester Toyota (Withholding paperwork & parts)

  • Just wanted to put out a warning for anyone in the NY area looking to buy a vehicle. I purchased a brand new Toyota 4Runner at Westchester Toyota on July 6, 2026, and the post-sale treatment has been a nightmare. My sales consultant was Nicholas Rabadi and the manager was Modesto Gil. At closing, they refused to give me physical copies of my contract, claiming the packet would be emailed. Two weeks later, I still have no legal financial paperwork. On top of that, the car was delivered missing its center dashboard JBL speaker, which they promised to ship to me.When I call the dealership to get my legal documents or tracking info, an operator named Andrew refuses to transfer me to any other managers or the customer relations department. He literally told me only my original sales team can look at my file, left me on hold for over 30 minutes, and hung up on me. To top it off, emails to the General Manager, Frank Greco, bounce back as undeliverable.Be careful if you shop here. Once they get your money, they completely stonewall you.

Looking for school recommendations

I'm the parent of a soon to be 5th grader and active duty military. I am not located in the Westchester area but my kid's dad is. I'm getting ready to deploy and I'm hoping to get my child into a decent school while he's with dad. Unfortunately dad lives in Mt Vernon where the schools seem pretty bad. My child is gifted, really enjoys school and I'm hoping to keep that up. Is there just one big school system in Westchester or do kids have to attend an assigned school? Are there charter schools? I'm just looking for alternatives especially at such a delicate time for our family. Any recommendations or resources would be appreciated!

I’m wondering about route 40 on the beeline. I’m a student at Westchester community college in Valhalla and am wondering where the 40 detours to during this sinkhole closure on legion drive. Can anyone help with this?

A 'staggering' sewage discharge: What happened to the Hudson River?

Thumbnail lohud.com
19 Upvotes

On the cusp of a holiday weekend and in the midst of a punishing heatwave, approximately 39 million gallons of partially treated sewage flowed into the Hudson River.
The wastewater spewed from the Yonkers Joint Wastewater Treatment Plant after the facility experienced a power failure late on July 2. The event shuttered beaches, halted recreational use of the Hudson and disrupted community events.

Americans have paid in their entire lives to social security. You have no right to take that Mike Lawler. No amount FB posts with you smiling will change the reality of your H.R.1 vote and all the other cuts to our communities that you have supported.

Hopefully I’m not the only one. I know I need to get a drain in the backyard but my basement only gets water when it rains hard like this.

Need advice from Hudson Valley residents!

Hello, I’m 21 years old and currently live in Ohio. My long term girlfriend moved to NYC nearly one year ago and now I’m looking into moving that direction as well. However, I’m just not a city person in anyway shape or form. I prefer peace, quiet, nature, and smaller community. I’d love to be able to keep my truck and have the freedom to take trips, ride my motorcycle, go hiking, camping, etc.
Previously my dream had always been Northern California, Oregon or Washington. However I really prioritize this relationship and in the future foresee starting a family with her. I’ve researched extensively the closest match to the PNW I could find within proximity to NYC so I could still fulfill some of my living desires and I’ve consistently landed on the Hudson Valley towns. They really seem to have a bit of that charm I was looking for that I wasn’t sure existed close to the city. I really just want advice from some folks who have resided here first hand on what areas I should be looking toward given the ideals I’ve listed. Some notable places I’ve looked into have been Peekskill, Ossining, Tarrytown, Croton, Irvington as well as many others nestled in between. One thing that I’ve noticed about the Hudson Valley would most notably the cost, I’m a young guy who’s willing to work hard and do what it takes but I don’t want to get in over my head. I want to prioritize affordability, safety, access to nature, proximity to jobs and nyc. So any advice on places I should be looking, steer clear from, that might suit me better, or just general advice on the area would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Date ideas in Westchester / that area of upstate?

Help me out if you can! I’m looking for date ideas with a few loose parameters. I really like the person I’m seeing and wanna have a great time with them!!!

Looking to do something outdoors, advantage to any sort of trails/areas with a lot of variety in bug and plant life!

Obviously anything that can be supplemented with some sort of affordable eats after!

(I lack the physical endurance for a super intense hike so advantage to outdoor ideas that aren’t too intensive physically, not too much uphill, etc)
