👋 Weber fan introducing the results of a passion project to r/webergrills
Hi r/webergrills - I’m a longtime Weber lover who has spent the past 3 years working on an insulated cover for the 22” kettle, that gives it the same cooking performance as a much more expensive ceramic cooker. My site for the product:
https://woollybully.com
I’ve participated in this sub (under a personal profile) for a few years, and the mods have graciously allowed me a post or two to introduce the Woolly Bully to you guys. Thank you and I promise not to spam everyone!
I have a handful of units from my first production run, that I would love to sell to members of this sub. I will take as much feedback as I can get on the product in hopes of gearing up for a second order from my manufacturer.
Happy to answer any questions in the comments. Thanks for your time!

has anyone table mounted their Weber and liked it?
seems to make more of a mess with the ash than an egg in the table

Damaged Genesis Box at Habitat Restore
My local Habitat Restore has a new Genesis E-330 with a damaged box for $550. Does anyone have experience with the Weber warranty in similar situations. Do I take the gamble? Also is there anything missing from the packaging slot in this damaged corner?

Rotisserie chicken
Made my first rotisserie on the Weber master touch using the only fire attachment (not pictured). Came out so freaking good using lump charcoal and apple chips!!!
Took a little longer than expected as I made the mistake of trusting the lid temperature instead of the attachment thermometer. I finished it off for a few mins on the open fire (shown here).

Baby backs
Tried hot and fast. A little over 2 hours temps ranged 280to 350. Most bones completely fell apart tasted so good bbq sauce the last 20 minutes. Birthday girl in first picture got an unseasoned bone. Not actually the bone though.

Pizza Kettle
Decided to try doing pizza on the Weber. Started with just a pizza stone and it was ok, but then bought a pizza kettle and it was fantastic. Used lump wood charcoal instead of the briquettes to get a fierce heat and the pizzas were done in under 3 minutes

Replace parts or just clean?
I recently inherited this Weber Spirit from a neighbor. I have little to no grilling experience but want to change that. Would y’all recommend replacing these rusted parts or try to clean them? Or should I just scrap this grill altogether?

I have a goal
Ribs on one, rotisserie chicken on the other at the same time.

More ribs...
Baby backs this time. 5.5 hours at 200-250.

First time with this brand
Has anyone else here tried it? It's a staple at my local Costco Business Center. I've always seen it there, so I finally pulled the trigger. Looks like nice, big chunks (at least near the top of the bag they're all pretty big). Too big to fit in my vortex, in fact that I had to break some on half or even thirds.
We'll see if they stay consistent once I get down to the bottom of the bag but at 40lbs it might take a few weeks

Mat for Kool Deck pool decking
Has anyone had any luck with a grill mat they’ve used over a Kool Deck pool deck? My concern is that anything rubber will melt into the Kool Deck in the Texas heat. Thank you all!

Will the Onlyfire stainless steel grate be good enough to use with the Vortex? If not, open to suggestions. I live in Canada, and feel we don't have as many choices compared to our neighbors down south.

Genesis S-415 $799?!
Is this too good to be true? I picked one up. But am searching the internet to see if there is something wrong with this particular model. Can’t find anything. Seems way too cheap.

Replacement One-touch Cleaning System
I have a Weber 22" Master Touch and the cleaning fins are about useless. I think all three bent up the first time I scraped ash and bits of charcoal out.
My question - who makes a stronger aftermarket replacement set? One that won't bend on the first use.
Thanks!

Ribs
Rob’s on the kettle yesterday. First time doing the snake method, and it held the temp steady at 250 like a champ!

Weber Q2800N+ arrived without grates
I ordered a Weber Q2800N+ and assembled it only to find it was shipped without the grates. I called and emailed Weber support, but they don’t know when spare grates will be back in stock. Has anyone here been successful dealing with their customer service? I find it unacceptable the grill is unusable out of the box without any info on when it can be fixed. I just want to have a cookout with my friends 😭

In the market for a Weber Propane Grill Stainless steel over cast iron/ Is the sear zone that important?
Howdy!
I have a Smokey Mountain and Master Touch and love em both. A combo of factors just hit me: 1) My home owners association outlawed charcoal/pellet grilling. Don't worry, I am renting and looking to move. 2) My wife had a baby and so even if I could charcoal grill, having a grill that I can quickly turn on and off would be helpful
That being said, I fucking LOVE charcoal grilling and smoking- I just can't do it now. I put up a fight with my local management company, home owners association etc but they went through the proper channels and banned it etc.
For Weber's Line of propane grills I am looking for:
Non-natural gas
My questions for you, the weber hivemind:
1) I am leaning stainless steel grates. I have read stories about cast iron porcelain coming off and I would rather go stainless steel: Am I being stupid?
2) Is the sear zone that important? Do you find it useful?
I have an outdoor grill box so I don't need the locker. I don't think I need the side burner for sauces.
I am leaning toward the S-315 because it is the only grill on the website that has stainless steel grates. I could get a S-325 and just take the cast iron grates out and buy the stainless steel ones. That way, I would get stainless steel AND THE SSEAAAARR ZONNEEE.
Grill will be used for: Steak, Chicken Thighs, Brisket, Ribs, chuck roast, chili: basic stuff

Looking for Advice
I bought a Weber searwood xl about 2 months ago.
Have love the grill - but the fuel sensor went out about 2 weeks ago on it. I called Weber went through the troubleshooting and they sent me a new fuel gauge. I just installed it and started getting the same message.
Webers customer service is horrible - I bought this at an ace hardware. Do I have any other options - should I just return it?
