Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks to host second Architecture Amble of season: Third Avenue Neighborhood
wausauhistoriclandmarks.orgThe Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks presents their second Architecture Amble of the season on Thursday, July 30, 2026. The walking tour begins at the upper parking lot of Riverside Park (100 Sherman Street, Wausau) at 6 pm and will explore the Third Avenue Neighborhood between Thomas Street and Stewart Avenue.
The Third Avenue Neighborhood’s architecture and history reveal a thriving community filled with homes, businesses, and industry. This tour includes many stories and names that are still familiar, such as Kohlman’s and Lee’s, Beasman’s, The Red Apple, and Grace UCC. But, it also includes those that are beginning to fade into the past, like Bill’s Fine Foods, Pope’s Hobbyland,
Irving School, McDonald Pool, and Porter Tannery.
Remember to dress for the weather, and be sure to wear good walking shoes as there will be some uneven surfaces.
The event is free and open to all ages, and no reservations are required. Free will donations are always appreciated.

Need some farm help?
Hello, my name is Jax and I'm 14, turning 15 August 1st. I'm going into my sophomore year of highschool and I want to be an exotic vet when I'm older. I want to work with all kinds of animals and I feel like I cannot give out the best advice for animals if I don't know the ins and outs of their care. I live in weston and I am willing to travel a few miles to get to the farm. I do not need to be paid, but I will not turn down any money if you want to. I have some genetic conditions that cause my joints to be unstable but I have braces that I can be active in and it won't slow me down. I'm a bit out of shape but I want the experience of hard, honest work. Please PM me if you or anyone you know wants some help and we can work out the details. Have a good day!

Birthday activities
I moved to the Wausau area a couple months ago and now my birthday is coming up. What are some restaurants, bars, stores, etc that have good deals for birthdays?

How is Wausau not considered one of the best outdoor towns in the Midwest?
I live in Madison currently. Grew up in Wausau. I happen to live in a perfect spot in Madison for every kind of running trail which is my primary sport. So not complaining.
But.. if outdoor stuff was my only focus I would move back to Wausau in a second. Both kinds of skiing, kayaking, lake sports, mountain biking and new ultramarthons with some of the most savage vert in the world.
Hands down the best outdoor town in Wisconsin in my opinion that's actually livable. You can argue Duluth and North shore MN is more dramatic but it's cold AF there.
Lacrosse is also gorgeous and has a lot of stuff but I still give the win to Wausau with the lake.

Is there a pagan community in Wausau?
I’m going to be in town next month to visit family (I lived in Wausau when I was a kid), and I was wondering about the pagan community. I’ve been to a couple of cute shops, but I don’t know anything about the community as a whole. Thanks for any insight.
