Very interesting Spain team with Mara plus Aldama and De Larrea (Dallas), Baba Miller (Clippers), Hugo (Boston), Hernán Gómez brothers ex NBA, and Saint Xupert (Gonzaga last year now signed for Valencia powerhouse)

NBA summer league superlatives: Which players impressed? | Ben Golliver: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/49391646/2026-2027-nba-summer-league-superlatives-mvp-aj-dybantsa-cameron-boozer-vegas
Given that summer league play is relatively unstructured and dominated by bucket-getting guards, it's no surprise that Mara didn't leave much of a mark during his minutes and sometimes struggled to keep up with the pace of play.
The 7-foot-3 center enters the NBA as a very skilled passer, and his best moments in Las Vegas involved him whipping the ball to cutters for high-percentage looks in the paint. Otherwise, Mara found his own scoring opportunities hard to come by, and he didn't command the basket area that well on either end for a player with his size and length.
Don't overreact yet: Mara excelled when surrounded by NBA-caliber players at the University of Michigan, and he is set to join the league's most talented roster in Oklahoma City.

Is it worth trading for him from the clippers using the trade exception? I am sure the clippers would want a couple pics. Then include a third team to off load Mara for a late first possibly. Thoughts?

His contract keeps us under the 2nd apron and won’t cost much maybe a couple 2nds. Dudes got a lot of upside and doesn’t really fit Utahs timeline.

I consider myself fairly intelligent. But why is it called the 2nd apron ? What the hell does that even mean.

Super Shai fan back again! I was a general fan since UK, followed his game logs, but I live in New England and never really saw him play until 2025. I’m curious for those of you who are lifelong OKC fans and saw every game of his career, what was it like watching how good he was going back to the start of 22/23? People say he has only had “2 seasons at a truly elite level” but I’m watching every game of 22/23 and 23/24 now, and my gosh he was already worthy of the MVP if you ask me, just based on HIS contributions and sheer dominance. What was it like for yall and what was being said amongst the fanbase? I’m wondering if most of you knew what you had, or maybe somehow some tried to undersell the numbers and what they were seeing? I tell ya, as someone who was only seeing the stats, as much as I was blown away tracking him putting up literally 31 points EVERY game, on 50% EVERY game, I still just had NO IDEA what was actually taking place. I’m genuinely so disappointed in the NBA that the media didn’t do a better job of showcasing what was happening. I just watched a game where he embarrassed Alex Caruso vs the Bulls like 13 times lol. And it’s crazy that he has been able to come up huge in the biggest single games since back, as I saw he scored like 33 and hit the game winning floater with 33 seconds left to knock off the Pelicans as a 10 seed in the playin, despite them already sacifcing defensive schemes to try to deny him anything.
