I need to print some posters for a missing cat at the town library, does anyone know how it works? Do I bring a flash drive or can I connect my phone to the printer?

Those who moved away from Swindon, how are you finding it?

I'm considering moving out of Swindon to a bit more of a bustling location like Bristol (I have a deposit to put down to buy a place).

I've lived in Swindon for the past 13 years with parents and it has been decent overall I'd say, just a bit of a boring town. The town itself in my experience has been rather safe. And West Swindon where we live is peaceful and convenient for food shopping and the cinema and getting to the center of town. And it's nice having my cousins/aunt and uncle close by. But I've found it more difficult to socialise and find friends, most existing friends having moved away to the likes of London and Bristol. I've just found less reason to stick around as the years go on. Friends in London seem to be enjoying themselves from the occasional WhatsApp messages we exchange sometimes.

I hybrid work so I'd only need to be in Swindon for 2 days a week, but I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has taken the plunge and left Swindon, was your experience better in the new city/town you moved to or was the grass not always greener on the other side?

Seat belts on the bus?

So today I've taken the bus in Swindon for the first time in a few years. When did they add seat belts to the bus? Just never seen them before so curious to when they got installed on the bus. For reference I took the number 7 bus from West Swindon to town, if that makes a difference on which busses they're on.

Is tap on tap off cheaper than a dayrider?

Title, I usually just buy dayriders but they add up quickly because I seem to be getting a bus every other day and I'm just wondering if there's a cheaper option? How is tap on tap off because I've never used it before?

For reference I'm normally travelling between Orbital Park and Town.

Has anyone bumped into Joe Wilkinson the comedian in Swindon?

I’ve been listening to his and David Earl’s podcast Chatabix since the first episode and Joe has mentioned Swindon quite a few times.

He was at Swindon’s Park Run a few months ago. His wife Petra’s family live here I believe.

I was wondering if anyone has seen him around town or out on a run or something?

Are there any other outer suburbs that are less costly but affluent?

I have been living in Walcot since 2018 and after the pandemic, things had gotten more sketchy since then. Higher rates of gangs and antisocial behaviour take place. On top of it becoming a ghetto in the past handful of months

So I want to know if there are other outer sububs that are nicer but less costly.

We are Middle class, though we are not upper.

Do you live in Penhill? What's it like living there?

I appreciate that areas of it are somewhat impoverished, however it always looks like there is a nice sense of community and togetherness.

Help - Cat missing since 13/07

Post image
11 Upvotes

Gone from Abbey Meads and terribly missed. Goes by the name of SCHNITZEL, quite small, shy and can be rather skittish around people - she is usually an indoor cat. We have put up posters locally and notified shelters and vets, and added her to several FB groups as well - but no luck so far. :(

It's a long shot, but if anyone thinks they may have seen her, pls let me know. Many thanks!

1-5pm, 19th July FREE live music during Lazy Summer Sundays

Bob is known throughout the South West and beyond for his bluesy guitar playing and soulful voice. Bob writes and performs his own songs and classic covers of genres like blues, soul, gospel, rhythm and blues, rock and funk.

Live music is scheduled to start at 2pm. Entry is FREE to all, although we'd love it if you could support our museum by buying some refreshments at our tearoom, where all items are very reasonably priced.

There is some parking available on Day House Lane, and paid public parking at Coate Water Country Park. Parking at the museum is reserved for volunteers and the disabled.

Use 'Richard Jefferies Museum' on your sat nav, or grab the 1, 1A, 1B, 12, or 13A bus and get off either at Coate Water or The Sun Inn stop.

Do you submit a CV to work part time within a bar?

Came to find out that bars are the remaining industries where teens can just walk in the bar (assertively and durably of course) to ask if there are any roles available. The place where I live has many bars like the Merlin or Messenger. I am 19 now so I should be able to have a role.

But does it still mean I need to hand in some CV? If so, what should it look like? I am considering amending my indeed CV.

And is the risk high in terms of name discrimination

City centre

Hi all. Would anyone know if the Premier Inn car park in the *edit TOWN not city) centre is generally safe? Have there been previous incidences there? Would the hotel have been aware of anti social behaviour there in the past? We were one of the many cars who windows were smashed last Friday night. While I know signage in all carparks say "no responsibility" I dont believe that to be true in all cases. TiA

Little cement dog!

"The language of the eyes is cultivated to a marvellous degree; as we say of dogs, they quite talk with their eyes." The Open Air

Some of our Richard Jefferies Museum volunteers' children found this little cement dog on the museum grounds. Do you think you can spot it the next time you visit?
