I got fired from TJ Maxx warehouse around April I think, and I've been out trying to find any job since and can't get nothing. Not really here looking for people to tell me where to apply but that could work too, I'm mostly just trying to figure out exactly what is wrong with how I'm doing it. So for starters, I do understand why it would be hard for me to even get a job already.
For one, I don't know how to drive, and rely on the busses to get around It's actually the reason I got fired from TJ Maxx I think cause I relied on Ubers to take me since I went to work too early for the bus to operate. But that shouldn't be a problem cause I've been applying to a bunch of places on Military drive, and all in between flores and Pleasanton, I really don't need a car to get around, if even just a bus.
So if it isn't that maybe it's my experience. I have tried going back into warehouse jobs cause I am used to it since I used to work a day for a days pay anywhere where my dad worked if they needed the hands, mostly at tire warehouses. But I spent only a year at an actual tire warehouse full employed, and before that I worked maybe 6 or less months at Griff's. I know the whole need experience to get experience, but I also don't think it's this issue either sometimes. I've applied to fast food places and as a busser at a few regular restaurants. I've applied to HEB, Walmart, and a bunch of stores and corner stores, I really don't think you need experience for all that. Hell I've applied to small ass stores like Laundromats and smoke shops and stuff. If it really was the experience I needed, why is it I need experience for entry level jobs?
Alright so maybe it's something I'm saying during interviews? This has to be it right? To preface this, I am autistic, heavily on the antisocial side, where I don't really get how people convey themselves to others and connect if you know what I mean. But I mask pretty well. I'm polite, I dress as nice as I can, I keep the fidgeting down to a complete minimum, and everything always seems to go well once I'm done with an interview, they'll call me sometime in the week. But they never call back. I sometimes call, although I always feel awkward doing it like I'm harassing them, but everyone around me tells me to call them to confirm so I do, maybe that weirds the employers out.
I'm just tired, giving up on life at this point, and I would literally rather die than end up homeless. I'm 21 already, graduated high school 3 years ago, and I still don't even know how to act like an adult, and all the adults around me are like figure it out, you should already know these things, you shouldn't need help. But I do need help. I desperately need help, at least someone in my corner telling me what I did wrong, what I should be doing, how I should be acting, and just helping me make it as easy for me as they say it is for them to just function as a human being.
Yeah I'm sorry for all of this pretty much venting, I'm mostly just here for advice on what I should be doing in order to actually land a job without screwing it up, and I know the job market is tough right now, and everyone is trying to get in, but even if nobody answers here I'll figure it out and hopefully end up finally being employed.
