OPINION Rating every single song, EP and album made by Porter Robinson 【=◈︿◈=】

I'm gonna rate every single song Porter Robinson has made (or at least the most of them)

Don't take this THAT seriously, I'm just a 20 YO boy who doesn't know a shit about musical theory, I'm gonna review them with my opinion

Well then, let's Begin

(2010) Say my name (complete & radio edit) This one was his very first song by his own name, (cause before Porter Robinson there was Ekowrait)

It's mostly EDM but with very interesting traces to continue with drops, I don't have too much to say with this one, it's nice and even if it didn't age that well, still being a good song

(8/10) Good

(2010) Hello (with Lazy Rich & Sue Cho) It's a bit similar to Say my name, but shows more traces than before & a more worked lyrics

but it also repeats a lot or it feels like it does, I'd say it is a bit too long, but doesn't mean it is bad

(7/10) Ok

(2010) I'm on fire Being honest, this one is a bit mediocre, it repeats too much and the lyric is simple, has good rhythm but beside that, doesn't have too much to show

(6/10) Meh

-spitfire-

(2011) Spitfire This one is the beginning of the EP, has a good start and a nice build up, but by the middle of the song, it becomes really predecible and repeats a lot, is mostly complextro and dubstep combined, not bad but it could've been better

(7/10) Ok

(2011) Unison Second track and, it's really good, no wonder why people call it an EDM greatest classic, but has the same problem as many Porter old songs, it repeats a lot, barely having changes, doesn't quit the merit that's really nice and interesting

(8/10) Good

(2011) 100% In The Bitch Gotta admit I hated this song by the start, it was really offensive and predecibly, but by the time i learned to understand it and with that, I really liked it at the end, it has a great rhythm, more polished than before, the lyric is a bit funny and dope, nothing to say, is nice

(8/10) Good

(2011) Vandalism (with Amba Shepherd) Probably one of the most underrated Porter songs ever, it's awesome by everything, the lyric is much more worked than his past songs, with the collaboration of Amba Shepherd as the vocalist, makes it a very complete track

(9/10) Excellent

(2011) The State This one... is bad, it's genuinely bad, I didn't connect with it a single time, it repeats A LOT and barely shows something, this one song is the only one of his entire discography that I genuinely dislike

(4/10) Bad

(2011) The seconds (With Jano) Skipping the bump of The State, we pass to the last track of the EP (remixes don't count) and OMG this one is the best of the EP, has an epic composition and rhythm, combined with Jano's voice, makes it an awesome song and a very nice ending to this interesting EP

(9/10) Excellent

(Spitfire rate) For being the first Porter's attempt of "big" project, wasn't any bad, even with it's bad stuff, makes it a really really nice EDM classic

(45/60)

Total = 7.5 (well done)

(2012) Language (with Heather Bright) Oh boy, this one is PEAK, I...didn't hear it at the time, but it aged like wine

Even tho it is the only one song Porter released in the year, has an incredible composition and drop plus the lyric, makes it an amazing song (we can feel the first glimpses of Worlds in this song)

Nothing more to say, is awesome

(10/10) Perfect

(2013) Easy (with Mat Zo) (complete & radio edit) I have a strange feeling with this song, I love it, but at the same time feels too simple at moments, it repeats a lot, and genuinely, I'd prefer that it has a minute less of song, the radio edit helps that a lot.

Is a good song, but a bit too long

(9/10) Excellent

-Worlds-

(2014) Divinity (with Amy Millan) An amazing way to start his first studio album, even tho it repeats sometimes, doesn't feel predecible or boring, has it's ups and downs, plus the angelic lyrics with Amy voice, genuinely makes you feel out of this world

(10/10) Perfect

(2014) Sad Machine I love this song, Porter really found the way to fix the problem of excessive repetition that carry for soo long, doesn't have the best lyrics, but is soo good that it starts to feel more like a hymn, is simply amazing

(10/10) Perfect

(2014) Years Of War (with Breanne Düren & Sean Caskey) This one is probably one of the most detailed songs of the album, it's a shame Porter never liked it at all

Has an impeccable composition and beautiful lyrics, but feels a bit repetitive at some point, even with that, is an incredible song

(9/10) Excellent

(2014) Flicker This one was interesting, but while you listen to it more, you learn to like it, (feels like Daft Punk with Hatsune Miku combined LoL)

If you're not used to this kind of songs, you'll find it weird and even corny, but if you give it the chance, you'll end up loving it

(8/10) Good

(2014) Fresh Static Snow This one is more aggressive that most of the other ones, and the lyric is interesting, has a good rhythm, but it feels a bit repetitive, I'm not saying is boring or predecible, but I'd prefer that has a bit more ups and downs that just the same tone passing over and over for over 6 minutes

(8/10) Good

(2014) Polygon Dust (with Lemaitre) This one has almost the same problem that FSS, but dilutes it with more rhythm and vocals, even tho it's a good song, was really underrated by the fandom

(8/10) Good

(2014) Hear The Bell (with Imaginary Cities) This one is really really nice, even tho Porter forgot it by the time, has an amazing composition and good lyrics, is awesome, i have nothing more to say

(9/10) Excellent

(2014) Natural Light Natural Light is a curious case, doesn't count as a song, is an interlude, more like a way to calm down the album to avoid the listener to feel crammed by soo much noise at a short time, and It fulfills its purpose perfectly, with those virtual bird sound, the beats and digital waves, so let's say it's nice

(9/10) Excellent

(2014) Lionhearted (with Urban Cone) This one is more Indie Electronic than EDM or IDM, is really frenetic and funny, but the same like with Years Of War, Porter didn't like it, saying it didn't fit with the atmosphere of the album

And he's right, even tho this song is amazing, doesn't fit at all with the feeling of virtual escapism that the album wanna make you feel But with everything, still being an amazing song

(10/10) Perfect

(2014) Sea Of Voices This one has almost the same problem as Lionhearted, doesn't fit at all, or maybe is not well positioned in the track list, even that, is a beautiful track, barely has words but says a lot with them, I love it from beginning to end and I really hope Porter make more songs like this one, at least one

(10/10) Perfect

(2014) Fellow Feeling I gotta admit this one is a bit weird, is good, but at the same time it's so abstract and sentimental that it doesn't connect at all, I like it, but for new people it can be too noisy and confusing

(9/10) Excellent

(2014) Goodbye To A World What can I say that wasn't said before, is perfect, is a perfect way to end a beautiful album like this, but makes me so so angry that people underrate it for being known just by the among us TikToks

Just saying, beside that, is beautiful and sad at the same time

(10/10) Perfect

(2024) Hollowheart (with Amy Millan) This one was supposed to enter in the album, but for X or Y reason, Porter never found a place for it, until it's 10th anniversary, and is beautiful, in everything, is simply amazing and I have no words, this song DESERVED a place in the main album

(10/10) Perfect

(2016) Shepherdess Porter count this one as a main track of the album due all it's influence and love it received in the tour

(But didn't release it formally, he just posted it in SoundCloud without telling anyone, nor even his team or his manager... LoL) It's amazing, I love it and it should be more listened, a shame that is only on SoundCloud and YouTube

(10/10) Perfect

(Worlds rate) This album was way much better than everything else before (well, except for Language, that one's still being peak EDM) In my opinion, it's an EDM masterpiece and one of the best albums ever made, without a doubt

"strong 5 to like 6"

Hey Bitch shut the fuck up

(130/140)

Total= 9.2 (spectacular)

(2015) The Thrill "Nero" (Porter's remix) I already count this one as a complete song, cause it has barely nothing common with the original "The Thrill" has Porter's essence in every second, the composition is impressive and the modified lyric helps a lot

(9/10) Excellent

(2016) Shelter (Porter & Madeon) His most famous collaboration and a genuinely masterpiece, is simply awesome, the musical video helps it monumentally

(If you don't like this song... You have bad music tastes)

The composition is impeccable and the work is perfect, plus the lyric, the atmosphere of Worlds & Adventure combined fit like a glove and I genuinely hope one day they can make another collab

(10/10) Perfect

-Virtual self- I know I said "Porter Robinson" songs, but this is on his channel and being honest, this EP feels more like a cousin of Porter's essence

(2017) Particle arts Doesn't have great lyrics but compenses it with an incredible composition and rhythm, equal to the atmosphere the EP gives, is beautiful

(9/10) Excellent

(2017) Ghost Voices (complete & Radio edit) This one is gold, having well put how this EP is gonna be, makes you enjoy in every detail this song, is amazing and it was a surprise for everyone (for Porter too) that this song was nominated for the Grammys, didn't win, but the simple fact of being there tells how good it is

(10/10) Perfect

(2017) a.i.angel (Become God) It is a bit repetitive but not in a bad way, it's really immersive and interesting, i have not much to say about it, it's good you know

(8/10) good

(2017) Key This is probably the most underrated song of the EP is amazing and funny, makes you feel in the 2000s again, people should listen to it a bit more

(9/10) Excellent

(2017) Eon Break The last of the EP and a perfect way to end the travel, simply amazing

(10/10) Perfect

(2018) Angel Voices I'm not a big fan of remixes and this is an example, is good, really good, but compared to the original, is just a faster version of Ghost Voices with some details

(8/10) Good

(2018) Dry your eyes It's a curious song, not many people know it cause Porter never releases it, it stays trapped in the Virtual Self tours until someone posted it on YouTube It is an amazing song and I really wonder why Porter never released it, he never gave an explanation, but I really hope this beautiful track can be known for more people

(10/10) Perfect

(Virtual Self Rate) Is an immersive and sentimental EP with a strong base and great chores, I'd love to see more of this in the future, but probably there won't be anything else of this

(64/70)

Total = 9.1 (woooo)

-Nurture-

(2021) Lifelike Is the perfect opening for an amazing album like this, the way starts adding more and more instruments and sounds add the touch of digital and reality of this project

(9/10) Excellent

(2021) Look at the sky

A song about keep going even if you're scared of what's coming on makes a beautiful use of sound and lyrics between processed tone and natural voice to simulate a discussion.

Sounds amazing and is an incredible way to start this album

(10/10) Perfect

(2021) Get Your Wish Banger An awesome track with perfect timing and lyrics, i really liked the way it tells you about not giving up

Sounds awesome

(10/10) Perfect

(2021) Wind Tempos I just cant describe with words how beautiful, perfect and emotional this song is, is probably the second best of the album by far, how the build-up shows you the tension, the calm and how the song is preparing to start, to end up with how you found the inspiration to create something new

(10/10) Perfect

(2021) Musician This one is a banger, the way Porter describes how he just can't stop doing music and how happy he is about finally getting out of that deep situation he was without being able to make music which produces him a depression, it's amazing (No the depression, that shit stinks)

(10/10) Perfect

(2021) do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do This one is probably the most forgivable of the album, but that doesn't mean it's bad, absolutely, is really good, only a bit "meh"

(8/10) Good

(2021) Mother Mother is about taking the step to finally get out of the depression Porter Robinson faced, with a conversation with his mother and apologizing for leaving them so by side, a hug and a way to continue Sounds awesome and the composition is impeccable, simply amazing

(9/10)

(2021) dullscythe Probably a lot of people take this song as the "black sheep" of the album, I disagree, shows a story, of how Porter felt by those days, weeks and months when he felt like he couldn't make anything good at all I really like this song, with all it's Good & bad stuff, but I understand the people who dislike it or even hated it

(9/10) Excellent

(2021) Sweet Time The song talks about his wife, Rika and how scared he is of losing her, how he wants her to live long and have a lot of friends and how better he feels

Sounds beautiful, the idea is very well planned, and the composition is impeccable as always, I like it a lot actually

(9/10) Excellent

(2021) Mirror This one is about facing your traumas, the how those slurs that shout a long ago, still sounding in your head and start to have more self love

The drops and lyrics are really impressive, Porter really found the way to make more singable lyrics

(10/10) Perfect

(2021) Something Comforting This song it THE SONG of the album, a banger in every detail, talking about hoping a past and not knowing how to make new things, is impressive The sensation makes goosebumps every single time you listen to it

(10/10) Perfect

(2021) Blossom Being more like a love letter to his wife, he speaks from the heart almost the same as he said in "Sweet Time The composition has not much, doesn't need it, but to be honest, it's too calm and relaxing, i like it a lot, but for normal people can be too sweet or boring

(9/10) Excellent

(2021) Unfold (with TEED) Another banger, talking to someone else how to continue and realising how far he have come to be now the one who gives the advice

Awesome lyrics, awesome composition, awesome everything

(10/10) Perfect

(2021) Trying To Feel Alive Talking about being happy with yourself and looking at your own success, this is the end of the álbum

This whole track list was polished to the tiny detail, simply an awesome ending

(10/10) Perfect

(2021) Fullmoon Lullaby (with Wednesday Campanella) Being only for the Japanese version, this song talks about dreaming The vocals are beautiful, the composition is perfect as the work on it

I understand why this wasn't in the main album, but I'd like this song to be in the main track list and not just like a hidden track in a specific country

(10/10) Perfect

(Nurture rate) What can I say, this is my favorite album of all time, is so well done that even I lost the count of how many times I've listened to it, this has an especial space in my heart

(143/150)

Total = 9.5 (Is so peak)

(2022) Everything Goes On Being a collab with League Of Leyends, this song is beautiful, the sound and composition are really good and the lyric can make you cry

(10/10) Perfect

(2023) Humansongs (Pouta) This is his first and only song made with his own vocaloid, is really good and polished, plus the lyric, this song is amazing in every aspect

(9/10) Excellent

-SMILE :D-

(2024) knock Yourself Out XD This was a surprise, changing from a folk/electro sentimental songs to a pop/rock with indie electronic was a bit unnatural at the start, but by the time I got into this new stage, and I love it, as always Porter never disappoints, great composition, awesome lyrics and amazing beats

(9/10) Excellent

(2024) Cheerleader Probably the second best of the album and the most famous, talking about how scary fame can be with the obsessed fans, has a very interesting tone of synths and beats that gives that "party" essence

The lyric is impeccable and the composition incredible

(10/10) Perfect

(2024) Russian Roulette
Talking about being scared of change and disappointing everyone, leaving your team without a job, this song has an incredible feeling, sound and composition that keeps you till the end, amazing for a 6 minutes song

(10/10) Perfect

(2024) Perfect Pinterest Garden This is more like pop/rock with some interesting adds, I really liked how Porter made this one

As always, great lyrics, perfect composition, nice

(9/10) Excellent

(2024) Year Of The Cup This one is... A bit weird at the beginning, it takes a few listens to understand totally the song, but doesn't sound bad, is more slow than the others, but that makes you rest a bit from all that frenetic synth pop party

(8/10) Good

(2024) Kitsune Maison Freestyle This one is another banger, really funny and I genuinely like it a lot, It has a different sound compared to the past ones but in a good way, makes it stand out, very good :)

(9/10) Excellent

(2024) Easier To Love You This one has barely nothing of Synths, is almost, analogical instruments and Porter's voice, but that makes it awesome, at the very end, puts the digital essence, I genuinely love this song, even tho it barely has Synths

(10/10) Perfect

(2024) Mona Lisa This one is curious, is not bad, but doesn't stand out at all, is fine, i like it like every song of this album

(7/10) Ok

(2024) Is There Really No Happiness I gotta admit this song is my favorite from the album, I don't know what has, but I love it, even tho it is one of the most underrated, i genuinely like the lyric and songs talking about nostalgia and how dangerous it can become if you just live thinking about yesterday

(9/10) Excellent

(2024) Everything To Me I have an irrational hate to this song, even tho it is good

It doesn't feel like an ending, feels like the song that goes before the real ending... And it never arrives, because the album is over, that's it

I consider it the most "meh" of the entire album, and for an album that was going that well, this song feels like a sudden stop

(6/10) Meh

(SMILE :D rate) Wasn't a bad album, is really good, but i genuinely think it needed more time to polish, maybe about a year more, because having 2 generic songs and an "ending" that doesn't feel like an ending leaves you wanting more

(87/100)

Total = 8.7 (very good)

And... That's it, thanks for reading this Bible of reviews

Bye 【=◈︿◈=】

QUESTION I still wonder what those 100$ logitech speakers he mentioned back in 2012

Most people are speculating that its one of those 2.1 setup speakers in which, honestly is very needed to have at least a subwoofer for low-end mixes.

Though.... I still wonder how tf did he managed to get a decent mid to high frequency mix. Definitely one of those Z300 series or Z313, or even a Z625 considering that he likes to play games as that's focused for gamers as well.

Though I feel like he used an X-230 instead bc that shit was notorious for having a muddy bass boost with scooped mids. Probably he had to be familiar instead of really get into fidelity.

Now that I'm talking about this, I'm now starting to regret of missing out on his AMA 2 years ago to ask what are those logitech speakers he was talking about. Either he gives out the model or pic, or he gatekeeps it forever lmao 🥲
