Help [Help] Pokémon Emerald freezing

Hi everyone,

I’m running into a persistent issue while playing Pokémon Emerald on my TI-Nspire CX II CAS (OS 6.4.0.74). I'm using the lr-gpsp-nspire core (https://github.com/libretro/gpsp).

Everything runs smoothly until I step into a patch of tall grass where a wild encounter is triggered. At the exact moment the battle should start, the emulator freezes or causes the calculator to force a reboot.

Here is what I’ve already tried:

* Verified that my GBA BIOS (gba_bios.bin.tns) is the official 16KB version and is being detected by the emulator.

* Tweaked core settings, including switching Dynarec RAM/SMC between Partial and Classic (full flush).

* Adjusted Save Type and Update backup settings.

* Attempted toggling RTC (Real-Time Clock) between Auto and Enabled.

* Tested with a clean ROM from a verified source.

Despite these efforts, the crash remains consistent whenever a battle starts. Since the game runs perfectly outside of combat, I suspect this might be a core-level compatibility issue with how this version of gpsp handles battle transition effects on the Nspire hardware.

Has anyone else encountered this specific "battle freeze" in Pokémon Emerald? Any suggestions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Help Moving 'large' files on CX II-T

Hi all sorry if this is a bit silly but I got my first nspire yesterday (nspire CX II-T), and I've installed ndless for OS 6.4. I'm trying to install scummvm which is available on tiplanet, and I'm not able to cut the file to move it into its own folder. Anyone have any general advice? Is there a way to do it on a windows PC for the CX II-T? Thank you in advance

Help Simple solve equation causing calculator to break.

For some reason when i try to put "solve((x\^3)/3-4x=10+2/3,x)" into my CAS calculator it gets stuck loading until i reset it manually. I can find the answer using a graph and intersection so I don't know why it reacts like that to using solve.

Help All .tns/notes files on CX II CAS indented after installing npdf

Edit: Solved changed firstLineOffset=platform.gc():getStringWidth(" ") to firstLineOffset=0 in reader.lua

Without indents

Before installing, the text wasn't indented, so I know it was caused by npdf. I've already tried uninstalling both npdf and ndless, but neither worked. It's really annoying because the indents take up a good portion of the calculator's already small screen. Is there something I can do to fix this, or am I just stuck with it?

Help Possible buffer underflow/overflow error?

I was making a fake ChatGPT, which involved me making a super-long string for the "answer" of the chatbot. When composing this message, I noticed at one point that a letter shared the same visual space as the end quotation mark. Futher testing confirmed that this issue occurs when `dim(myString)` is `256` precisely. Interestingly, NSpire can still parse strings longer than 256 chars. I have not tested `512` etc., but this doesn't occur on `128`. Sounds like some kind of BO/BU.
...is this even the right community for NSpire hacking?

Oh right uh this is TI NSPIRE CX-CAS II (Blue)

Hi everyone!

I have charged my calculator several times, but suddenly it drains very quickly. On some days, the battery lasts a good while and drains normally.

The problem occurred one day when there was a power outage, and the electricity came back immediately.

I have already checked the calculator's ports and its charging circuit, and everything works fine, except that when checking the status, the following message appears: 'cradle rechargeable battery not present.' This is inconsistent, because if the battery were not present, it wouldn't display the battery percentage.

The battery is not dead; I am attaching evidence measuring the voltage.

Gaming Pico 8 emulator for Ti Nspire

Post image
33 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say that I released a Pico-8 emulator for the Ti Nspire. It's a port of an emulator called Fake-08. You can download it and see the instructions at https://github.com/FerdinandoPH/fake-08-nspire

It runs generally fine on my nspire CX II. I'm not sure about how well it will work on the CX model.

If you wanted to play some Pico-8 games on your calc, this is your chance! It's still in alpha, so any feedback is appreciated :)

Help Testers for my Calculator App

Hey everyone,

I´ve posted a couple of days ago in this community and shared my idea of an app for the TI-Nspire CAS called CASify. The app is about teaching students how the CAS works, explaining its functions and tips for the usage.

I'm now looking for a few beta testers who want to try the app before the official launch. If you're a student who uses the TI-Nspire CAS and want early access, just join the waitlist at casify.website and I'll reach out once testing starts.

Unfortunately the app is currently in German only and available on iOS for now. Android and an English version are planned for later .

Help TI-Nspire CX II charging reset problem

I haven't touched my CAS since most likely mid last year. I've put it on charge, but I keep having to reset it to see the actual battery percentage. It'll be 25% for three hours, and then when I finally reset it using the button, it shows it's actually 75%.

Does that indicate a problem with the battery? Am I going to have to get it replaced?

Or is it just beacuse I haven't used it in a while, and most likely everything will go back to normal after I start using it again?

Sorry if this is a really simple question, I tried looking for an answer, but I guess I may have not researched enough! If anyone could even js guide me where to look for help, that would be great.

Windows 95 on the TI-Nspire CX II CAS!

Hello everyone! The time has finally come to take the wraps off of something I have been working on for an extremely long time.

May I present to you Windows 95 running on the Nspire CX II via an x86 interpreter !

The core is a port of tiny386 which is a pretty solid & lightweight i386 emulator with some added i486 & i586 instructions.

Due to the storage limits of the nspire I had to use a stripped down Windows image that comes to ~ 70 mb. The project finally reached the desktop today! Check out the video of it booting to desktop here! (https://youtu.be/of-Ffujzyss?si=KRgkrHZ8sxR2WtuC) (It is sped up. actual time to desktop is roughly 7 minutes 😅 )

Help My GDC keeps drawing functions as straight lines. Please help.

Post image

My calculator keeps drawing various kinds of functions (exponential, sinusoidal) as straight lines! This one, for example: f(x) = 2.8cos(28.8x) + 6.2

These functions are written correctly and I have Radian mode enabled- what could be wrong?

EDIT: Thank you so much for all the advice! Properly zooming in did the job, haha! I have a test tomorrow, so wish me luck! <33

Help CX CAS is not being registered

I have an old CX CAS that is running version 4.0.0, and I am trying to send files to it. It is securely plugged into my laptop, to the point where it is charging off it, I tried with both the website and the computer link software, and no suggestion online works. Is it too old? Help would be appreciated

Help Help me unlockl my TI-Nspire CXII CAS

I purchased this calculator used to solve symbolic systems of equations and large matrices for my graduate mechanical engineering coursework, but I realized that it is in some kind of test mode and I cannot access the features that I want. Can anyone guide me as to how I can reset it or remove the restrictions? Thank you. I would prefer not to pay for a license.

Built an app to finally understand the calculator

Hey,

I'm a high school student in Germany, currently preparing for my final exams. During my studies I noticed that almost nobody in my class really knew how to properly use the TI-Nspire CAS even though it's required in almost every math course. YouTube videos exist but always lack practical context. Even some teachers struggle with certain functions.

So I built CASify: an app for students that explains the TI-Nspire CAS step by step with tips, tricks and real exam context.

Currently the app is in German only, an English version is planned for a later update. Not fully released yet, but you can check out the website and join the waitlist at https://casify.website .

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Help Issue with Solve on CX II-T

In the past, when I had defined a list (e.g. L1:={5,10,15} , I would then be able to use the list in a solve() where there could be multiple outputs, based on the inputs of list.

Example Continued

solve(L1*y=20,y) and the output would normally bey={4,2,1.5}

However, I have just tried it today for the first time in a little bit, and it is now just outputting false. No matter what I do, it will not let me use solve with a list in it.

I was on version 6.3, and tried to update to 6.4.0, to see if that helped however it's no different, and I'm encountering the same problem on my companion software on Mac.

I spent a while looking in all of their FAQ's and support, and just generally online. But cannot find anyone else having the same issue, so I have emailed TI to see if they are able to provide any support, but wondering if any of you have encountered a similar issue, or might be able to help troubleshoot. I've got an exam in 2 days, and the ability to do this is incredibly important.

Thank you!

Edit: Update from TI on the problem below -

The behavior you are describing is a confirmed bug that emerged in the v6.3 operating system update and remains present in v6.4.

Our development team is aware that the algebraic engine is currently failing to properly distribute elements across user-defined lists inside the core solve() syntax. It evaluates the statement structurally rather than mathematically, resulting in a false output.

Until a patch is deployed in a future OS update, you can use two native methods to achieve the exact same multi-scenario results:

The "With" (|) Operator Option (as suggested on Reddit): Instead of mapping a predefined list directly inside the bracket, evaluate a single equation across multiple variable states separated by an or statement: solve(y*x=100,x)|y=5 or y=10 or y=15 This outputs: x=20 or x=10 or x=20/3

The Direct List Isolation Method: If the algebra allows you to isolate the variable on one side of the equation first, you can apply your list directly to the expression without using the solve command at all. For example, rewriting your scenario as: 100/L1 This will instantly output the matrix sequence: {20, 10, 6.66667}

I have logged your case details under our internal bug tracker for the development team.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and please let me know if you run into any other roadblocks with these temporary workarounds.
