I'm a local to the island and over the past year I've been building CouncilNotes.ai. It pulls in every agenda and minutes the three Aquidneck Island towns publish and turns each meeting into a readable summary; what was decided, the roll-call votes with names, what got tabled. Across meetings that adds up to to a voting record for each councilor and campaign finance from the state filings that sits right next to it so you can see who votes for what and who's funded by them.

I created this website to make it easier to understand and see what's going on around you as the governments websites make you jump through multiple pages just to understand what's going on. My goal is to create a platform to make it easier for residents to see what's happening around them in regards to local government decisions. I have more features and plans to come.

Looking for recommendations for bars in downtown Newport. I’m here visiting with some of my girl friends and we’re single, in our 30s and wondering what bars people in their 30s/40s go to. We went to fastnet the other night and definitely were the oldest ones lol. TIA!

Hey! I have a weird question for you all. Are there places, including public places, where people can shower in the city? I live in Providence and am traveling to Newport for the 5k/beer fest. My sister is visiting me for the weekend and after the 5k we would like to be able to explore Newport. She asked me if there's a place to shower after the 5k and I honestly have no clue. We are willing to spend some money but not the $500+ for a hotel we would only use for one hour. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone else in Newport for around the 4th right now notice it’s not as busy as previous years? I’ve come here the past 3 years around the same dates and it’s always packed. Now the streets are barely busy at night, and not nearly as busy during the day this year. Any opinions on why?

Hello, I have been here working for a little over a month now and have yet to make any friends here. I am a very social and outgoing but I am working a lot so have not had much free time. I've never heard downtown called the Old Port, until today. Today lots of people referring to it as the Old Port.
