Hello, I wanted to mod my old flashcart so i can play any games i wanna add, i burnt that micro sd card that was with this flashcart now im trying to follow some videos and using another flashcart but it doesnt work, anyone knows how to mod it? Are the videos about r4 and dspico flashcart gonna work on this flashcart or does it have to be the models mentioned?

I started playing Barbie Pegasus on my DSI just now (TeilightMenu++) and it seems to not recognise the R button in the game?

I know I don’t have issues as the R button is recognised in other games. However according to this link https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/GBARunner2/DSi_3DS_Compatibility_List#Compatibility_Lists the game should be playable?

Hey y'all, new here. I'm trying to figure out how to, "hack" my DSI (not sure if it's Xl, nor do I know tbe difference), and I'm struggling with understanding *everything*. The problem I keep running into, is sites, posts, and videos, trying to give guides to do something, rather than an article that actually explains what any of the things involved are or do. Like, nothing is EVER defined or explained and it's scrambling my head.

Like, "what's an sd card?" Doesn't mean, "where do I find or put one", it means I don't know what this technology is. Once I know that, I wanna know *why* I need it, then *what* to do with it, THEN *where* to buy and put it. But everything I read just skips all of that and goes from, "get sd card" to "do the stuff I'm telling you to" with zero info or explanation in between.

This is the issue with literally every single thing I try to read on this. Everything assumes so much prior knowledge but nothing establishes the fundamentals. I could use the above example for a "ROM", an, "Action Replay" or, "Gameshark", an, "SD card reader", or even the pc program I'm supposed to be using. Also apparently there are different methods of hacking the DSI? I wouldn't know, because everything says, "Here's THE way to hack your Dsi!" Rather than specifying it's one of several ways, and what this particular way is.

So yeah, is there anything anywhere that's vaguely comprehensive? Please let me know. I'm fine reading and researching and doing that "hard work", I just need to not have to spin tbe entire world wide web like a rubix cube and play scrabble with it.

Been working on porting (codex assisted) n64 super smash bros to the Nintendo DS for the past month. I knew nothing about coding for the DS before this, but i do have some C# and Powershell/python knowledge.

Here is what I have to far:
Mario and Fox on the Dreamland stage running about half speed (half speed is a stretch since the original game ran at 60fps and we're getting like 15 fps here in gameplay, i had to change the game logic (2 updates per frame) so it didn't run at 1/4 speed lol).

Still have a long way to go, but i'm pausing progress for now since GPT5.6 sol is struggling (ended my $200 codex sub back to $20 for now).

So I've been experimenting with this interest i have in doing a physical mod and like with a lot of pokemon players i think the holy grail is a device that could play everything. I am well aware that software wise the ds/ds lite gameboy port only plays advance games, no original, no color, but I've never found a satisfying answer on what the hardware deal is.

are the connectors (contacts) meaningfully different from the gba and sp or is the molded plastic simply shaped in such a way to not allow them in? I ask because you can't exactly buy the gba connectors separate but there are plenty of ds replacements for sale, please excuse my inexperience on this matter.

I’ve been working on a project inspired by the TurboXS DTEC, an early-2000s tuning device that used a Game Boy Advance as its display and interface.

The idea was to take that general concept and do something similar with a DS, using a homebrew ROM running on the original hardware.

The current prototype uses a cheap ELM327 adapter to retrieve live vehicle data, which is sent to the DS. At the moment I’m working with data such as:

• Vehicle speed
• RPM
• Coolant temperature
• Battery voltage

The longer-term goal is to move beyond the generic OBD interface and interface directly with the vehicle CAN bus, allowing the DS to receive more detailed vehicle data.

Still very much a work in progress, but I thought it would be interesting.

I'm playing pokemon Soul Silver and I'm trying to bypass the wait limit for the safari zone. I was wondering if formatting the system memory will anyway mess up anything I did when modding my DSi

This is my second Miyoo Mini Plus I've set up and I can get everything working fine except for DS games for some reason. Whenever I start them up they immediately send me back to the DS games list menu.

Any ideas?

Got Chex Quest running on the DS. It's built on Chocolate Doom (the vanilla accurate engine) ported to NDS, with the Chex Quest IWAD + dehacked patch bundled inside the .nds, so it just boots and plays.Tested on a DSi XL with TwilightMenu++. Other setups (DS Lite, emulators, etc.) might work but aren't verified yet if something breaks, open an issue.

Alrigjt so I got an r4 card and eventually the r4 card's sd card died and I've backed it up and got new one but the text isn't there anymore

Accidentally dropped my r4 ds about 1.5 feet onto a carpet, but it was enough to jiggle the card enough to fuck up my current play. Game just froze and all sprites disappeared. Should have saved before and it's my fault, but still annoyed losing an hour of play that I hadn't saved. W/E it was my fault, so I can't blame anything else... unless the floor is out to get me... Actually....

estoy tratando de hacer la modificación a mi DSi para hacerla una GBA macro, el tema es que no eh logrado conseguir una guía para hacer el puente en la placa que es necesario para que la consola encienda sin la pantalla superior. La mayoría de guías que eh encontrado están dirigidas exclusivamente a los modelos fat, lite y XL. La poca información que eh encontrado de este modelo especifico solamente muestran la consola ya modificada sin casi dar detalles. ¿Alguna persona que tenga idea de como hacer el mod en este modelo?

Does anyone understand what's wrong w/ my DSi? I haven't oppened it for months and hella confused. The games are working well tho. I'm just confused why this text suddenly appeared on my Home menu.

This is probably one of those "you're overthinking it" questions... but I'm okay with that.

Is it actually possible to make your own Nintendo DS cartridges?

I'm not talking about flashcarts. I know R4s, Ace3DS, etc. exist, and I know I could make one autoboot a single ROM. That's not what I'm after.

What I want is a cartridge that's permanently flashed with one ROM (ROM hack, translation, homebrew, whatever) and behaves as closely as possible to a genuine retail DS game.

The reason I don't want a flashcart isn't technical—it's aesthetic. The moment I see the microSD slot (or worse, the microSD itself), my brain immediately goes, "that's an R4," and the illusion is gone. I know that's an incredibly niche thing to care about, but here we are.

Someone on Discord suggested that I simply have a custom chip manufactured with the ROM already flashed onto it, then either 3D-print a cartridge shell or buy one from AliExpress. Which... sounds cool in theory, but I'm not an electrical engineer. I don't know how to design a cartridge PCB, I don't have schematics or pinouts for a DS cartridge, and having custom silicon made sounds slightly outside my skill set (and budget). So I'm assuming that's not a realistic approach.

The reason I'm asking is because reproduction DS cartridges obviously exist. Someone, somewhere, is programming those. Are they using blank rewriteable PCBs? Custom flash chips? Donor cartridges? Some manufacturing process I'm completely unaware of?

I'm mostly interested in the hardware side of things. Has anyone here actually made a "real" custom DS cartridge for a ROM hack or homebrew, or knows how repro manufacturers do it?

Hi I modded my DSI a month ago. But then I got busy and couldn't use it for a week, when I tried to use the DSI said "Bad MBR"
My SD card can't be read on my laptop, I tried to use disk drill to recover my files before having to format the card again but it can't find any files????
Is it because of the files or the SD card itself?? Do I have to start all over again and get a new SD card?
Please help me. I also don't have any backup files so that's a no go.

Basically I put another rom into the rom folder, and when i booted the Twilight menu up there were no roms anymore. I put the SD card back into my pc to check, and 12+ roms were gone and all i had was a "USBC" folder with a court document sign at the end.

...Ugh, what?

Also, if I make a backup on my pc of my roms folder, will that protect each games individual save, like a backup of sorts?

Hey guys. This is my release post for Miniquest Engine. It's a little hobby project for that niche of people that like RPG Maker but also like the Nintendo DS.

Here's a sample of some features:

• 3 onscreen party members. 6 in the save.

• 256 boolean flags.
• Spells, bosses, enemies, enemy troops.
• A database editor.
• A map editor.
• Tileset imports.
• Battle backdrops
• Tracker music imports (.mod, .it, .xm, .s3m)
• A custom scripting language.
• A build button in engine.

It exports directly out as an NDS file, capable of running on Twilight Menu or flashcarts. Don't got those? melonDS with SD Card emulation also works! (SD card emulation required to save.)

Been trying to figure out what’s wrong with the wifi all day. It was working fine last night but started doing that this morning and now I can’t keep a stable connection at all. It’s not a 2DS I have used a lot. I bought it and installed CFW about a year ago but haven’t really used it much outside of regular 3DS game cartridges. Just recently started tinkering with it and updating with universal updater and then this morning it started doing this.

I tried several things; enabling the wifi manually with the switch and on the Rosalina menu, then downloading and connecting to pretendo servers and updating luma. I also tried manually connecting to an IP address and then connecting to a hotspot. Then I removed the back panel and tried pushing in the wifi card in case it was loose but I’m not confident in my hardware knowledge to do more than that.

Would sincerely appreciate any help!
