It’s time to get a pet hawk and train it to snip cameras

4.7k

u/g_rape_fruit 11h ago

Or a pellet gun

2.9k

u/PackageNorth8984 11h ago

Why would you train a hawk to attack pellet guns?

1.8k

u/Emergency-State 11h ago

No, the hawk will use the pellet gun

491

u/BatmanLovesBoobies 11h ago edited 7h ago

I hope the pellet gun knows this beforehand and doesn't catch feelings only to be hurt later on.

273

u/Pigeonsass 11h ago

Train the hawk to cherish and support the hopes and dreams of the pellet gun

132

u/sam_wise_ganji 10h ago

You can't train love

193

u/Swagalyst 10h ago

But you can love trains.

39

u/minxwink 8h ago

Lmao ty for saying this —- this whole thread has been autism-coded (complimentary)

21

u/TactlessTortoise 7h ago

Instructions unclear. I now have an autistic hawk shooting up the neighbourhood

3

u/Otherwise-One7653 PANSEXUAL 9h ago

I like trains!

3

u/Top-Owl9872 6h ago

It’s true, I’m autistic.

1

u/trainwreckhappening 9h ago

Have we met before?

32

u/StampedeJones1 10h ago

Not with that attitude you can't.

3

u/Count_Verdunkeln 9h ago

The beatings will continue until love improves

1

u/mmccxi 3h ago

beatings will improve until pellet gun weilding trian-hawks support the hopes and dreams of camera masturbaters.

1

u/SortovaGoldfish 2h ago

I think as long as the pellet gun consents, love isn't really a necessity.

11

u/EvilAlienCzar 10h ago

“e hurt” I didn’t realize hawks participated in online dating

11

u/jepcasey 10h ago

The goal of cyberbullying is to e-hurt someone

19

u/r3ddit3ric 11h ago

The hawk is there to do a job, not to find romance.

3

u/YouGlittering9156 9h ago

The pellet knows where it is because it knows where it isn't

24

u/PackageNorth8984 11h ago

20

u/TheTruthNoodle 10h ago

You ever milked a hawk Greg?

2

u/Stever72 8h ago

Only Tony Hawk he has nipples too

6

u/stone_henge 8h ago

No, you'll load the pellet gun with hawks.

13

u/CaptainFleshBeard 11h ago

That’s just stupid, how is a hawk going to use a pellet gun when it’s already got knives taped to its talons ?

4

u/mindovermegan 9h ago

Instructions unclear: I just shot Tony Hawk with a pellet gun.

2

u/HornyHoney02 9h ago

Hawk With A Gun

2

u/JoyousMadhat 8h ago

No no. The pellet gun will use hawk

2

u/Lost_Found84 7h ago

This is like the time I trained a carrier pigeon to text. Saves a ton of time.

2

u/Eziopool 7h ago

This is the most American thing I have heard in this month.

2

u/KalatasXValatos 5h ago

We need hawks with fricking lasers on their fricking heads.

2

u/Quaid28 5h ago

Ahh makes sense

2

u/CyberneticPanda 3h ago

The pellet gun will use the hawk. It's the Daisy Falconer model.

2

u/NashKetchum777 1h ago

I've heard of aerial attack drones... but we're mixing the modern world with the primitive with this

1

u/LemmyLola 9h ago

It could grip it by the husk!

1

u/eatingURsistersassIV 4h ago

You guys are so narrowminded. He's going to train a pellet gun to attack cameras

10

u/Beetroot_Roosevelt 8h ago

Someone smarter than me means to do the reddit switcharoo thing

12

u/Jonas_Venture_Sr 11h ago

You misunderstood, they have to train the camera to use the pellet gun to shoot the hawk.

2

u/Suspicious-Garbage92 6h ago

Pellet gun shoots food pellets so the bird knows where to go

2

u/Cipher915 3h ago

So you don't shoot your eye out, kid.

1

u/jfk_47 8h ago

10/10

1

u/Reddit_is_fascist69 7h ago

This person is asking the right questions

1

u/Jemenezzz 6h ago

You throw the hawk at the camera and celebrate by firing the gun in the air, Middle East style

139

u/Ratattack1204 11h ago

a sufficiently strong laser would do the trick

86

u/BarBryzze 11h ago

A pet hawk with a pellet gun is much cooler though.

41

u/tommybot 11h ago

Per hawk with a Lazer would also be cool

38

u/KDogg3000 11h ago

Would a shark with Lazers attached be... jumping the shark(with lazers attached)?? 🤔

3

u/other_view12 4h ago

Probably, but how do you know if it was effective? The pellet gun lets me know the job is done.

I like the idea of the laser, but I want the certainty that it worked.

1

u/SolomonGrumpy 4h ago

So would a bazooka

117

u/IVII0 10h ago

I’d simply install a heat generating laser and point it directly on the camera.

A Class 4 laser focused directly into the lens will rapidly overheat, melt, or short-circuit the sensitive CMOS or CCD image sensor. Standard consumer laser pointers usually lack the power to do this quickly and require keeping the beam perfectly still for long periods.

If the neighbor has „harmless electronic device in his own home”, the OP can have one too.

102

u/Ittybittyratgirl 9h ago

I just love how amazing of a statement “I’d simply install a heat generating laser”is 😂 Takes me back to old school yugioh

“My ocean is covering my fish so you can’t attack them but they can attack you”

“Oh yeah? Well I attack the moon to lower the tides and expose your fish”

51

u/scorchedbeanz 9h ago

Then I activate POT OF GREED

17

u/Ittybittyratgirl 9h ago

What?! That card lets you draw two new cards from your deck!

10

u/DeepLock8808 8h ago

And my deck has no bad cards!

5

u/scorchedbeanz 7h ago

"that's not how that works"

"Yeah huh"

3

u/Gimetulkathmir 7h ago

Screw the rules, I have money!

1

u/ThyArtIsMeh 2h ago

"That is what it do Yugi"

3

u/ClubMeSoftly 3h ago

Early Yugioh wasn't about the card games, early Yugioh was just about who could out-bullshit the other player.

"I attack the moon and expose your fish monsters!"
"I use Catapult Turtle to launch my Dragon Champion at your Floating Castle to make it crash down on all your monsters!"
"You can't attack my monsters because they're all cartoons, and cartoons don't really die!"
"I duplicate my Kuriboh a thousand times and all of them will explode the eyes of your monster making it unable to see me and therefore it can't attack me!"
"I fuse my skeleton warrior to your dragon so it zombifies and is slowly dying!"

1

u/Kalspiewak 7h ago

I said an Air-rifle, but this is infinitely cooler

1

u/Cabana_bananza 4h ago

Class 4 laser

Considering the camera just sits there you could just use a low powered one over time? A 5 mW one could do the same damage and probably be cheaper and safer.

1

u/SolomonGrumpy 4h ago

Phased plasma rifle..40 watt range.

1

u/Icy_Chemist_1725 1h ago

And then they check the camera history and see a light shine from your patio at the lens and they report it to police if you're lucky. If you are unlucky they are actually a terrible person and they retaliate or escalate against you.

If you really believe someone is secretly recording you for nefarious reasons I don't recommend escalating with an illegal action that can be reported to police to get you in trouble. They are not breaking any laws here. Destroying their property is against the law.

If you called the police about this, they would tell you to install curtains for privacy and that the windows are visible from a public space. You don't get an expectation of privacy through clear glass. If you built your house out of glass, you would get laughed at if you call the police to report that people can see inside your home.

14

u/Striking-Teach7489 11h ago

RPG

5

u/eeveeplays50040 9h ago

Don't forget to also get an rocket propelled grenade launcher!

1

u/Striking-Teach7489 9h ago

Mildly infuriating

9

u/Exterminator-8008135 9h ago

This, easy to get and aiming ain't too hard after training a bit.

If, i, who never shot guns, and only uses them at fun fair ballon target stand is good with this, so can you.

13

u/Potential-Yoghurt245 10h ago

Use a laser pointer to faze the camera

3

u/--slurpy-- 10h ago

Do them strong lasers work?

1

u/PowerfulDisaster2067 10h ago

What about a Glock 18c with a drum mag?

1

u/Restart_from_Zero 8h ago

Or a laser pointer.

1

u/VeryluckyorNot 8h ago

Or a paint ball gun and shoot multiple layers of paints , if he buy a ,new repeats. If he threat to court defend yourself against voyeurism.

1

u/shuaaaa 8h ago

Do NOT use a pellet gun, trust me on this

1

u/why_me15 7h ago

Or pvp boss

1

u/GallowBarb PURPLE 7h ago

Paintball gun.

1

u/Sanepsycho420 6h ago

Exactly what I was thinking but since it's aimed right at their window ask a neighbor out of view of that camera to snipe it from so it doesn't catch you on camera and plausible deniability

1

u/Kaffeetrinker49 5h ago

This is vandalism

1

u/crack-nutter 5h ago

Or a green laser

1

u/Opposite_Laugh2803 4h ago

Target practice

1

u/StrigiStockBacking 3h ago

Used to do this growing up in the 70s. Had a high-powered pellet gun, my dad put a scope on it and sighted it in for me. He didn't know how I was using it, but my friend had a super bright street light that was keeping him up, even if the curtains were drawn, so one day I took it over there and we set it up a bipod, and shot the light out. Took the city a few weeks to come out and replace the bulb, and every time they did, we'd snipe it again. Because it was a pellet gun, it just made a somewhat loud "thunk" when it fired, so nobody even heard it.

1

u/Alarming-Stretch-788 3h ago

Aka vandalism

1

u/a_weak_child 2h ago

Or one of the lasers that fries the camera.

1

u/jaybanzia 1h ago

my account was flagged in this thread for even suggesting a this.

1

u/Pretty-Yam-2854 1h ago

.177 with well placement on the lense

u/Secret-Surprise4390 53m ago

He meant a pet pellet gun, duh

u/IsabellaGalavant 34m ago

My first thought, time for a BB gun. "Oops sorry, target practice, my aim is bad!"

Just get a laser

163

u/Nknk- 11h ago

Yep. Aim it right at the lens.

If they move the camera, you move the laser.

They either take away the camera then or dedicate their lives to moving it multiple times a day in a battle they can never win.

149

u/Nitrogen1234 11h ago

If you have a decent laser it will mess up the camera

81

u/Nknk- 11h ago

That's be a damn shame, wouldn't it....

17

u/NiSiSuinegEht 8h ago

I've got a nice purple one from Wicked Lasers before they got banned for import...

5

u/Commercial-Weird6245 3h ago

a small laser from a blu ray drive should do the trick too, might just take a while to carve a nice image everywhere onto the camera sensor

u/Alice131289 8m ago

Problem is aiming that laser at that distance, probably should choose a powerful laser that you can see well instead.

u/Icy_Chemist_1725 59m ago

I imagine that is destruction of property and the police will be called, or you are dealing with an actual bad person that now knows who you are and where you live and sees you as an enemy and not just a target for spying.

I tend not to start beef with people that know where I sleep. I recommend that strategy for everyone.

This person could have literally just be robbed and decided to get a camera and the advice on here is to destroy their property off an assumption of wrongdoing(which is illegal) instead of securing your privacy with curtains.

At any moment, anyone in the buildings or on the street can look into your windows the same as that camera can.

-8

u/UltraBlack_ 11h ago

and your eyes, too.

72

u/StaticSystemShock 10h ago

Laser will destroy the camera sensor. It'll also be a costly thing for the creep. And he can't report it to police as property destruction coz he'll have hard time explaining why camsea is point at yoir bedroom window...

19

u/cykoTom3 4h ago

The legality of pointing a camera out your window is gonna vary wildly from place to place. The legality of deliberately destroying someone else's property is not. Not saying i wouldn't do that, but maybe see if the police can get involved first? And if you do destroy their camera, make it an accident.

7

u/Hedge55 3h ago

You could always just place a mirror where the beam redirects to the camera. Then pretend you don’t know how light physics works.

3

u/StaticSystemShock 3h ago

It's not protecting their balcony, it's on railing pointed at this persons window. There is nothing questionable about it.

4

u/cykoTom3 3h ago

I mean...it's not even pointed at their window.

4

u/Rock_Strongo 2h ago

Reddit is always quick to suggest things that could definitely lead to legal problems.

"Just destroy their property" is usually not great advice.

1

u/cykoTom3 1h ago

It definitely isn't good advice when they say "destroy it and when the cops show up tell them all about how it was premeditated "

u/Icy_Chemist_1725 37m ago edited 32m ago

What about if they don't call the police? What if they move instead and then know where you live and then destroy your property, but you can't prove it and don't know where they live or even who they are?

15 years ago a psycho neighbor scratched my car because they thought I scratched their car(but it was just a random person that parked in my parking spot that dinged their door when i was at work). I told the neighbor that I couldn't have done it and they doubled down and basically threatened me saying if I called the police they would just escalate on me in ways the police couldn't prove.

So I pretended like they "won" and looked for a new place to live a few months later when my lease was expiring. I waited 6 months after I moved and went and spray painted "Threats are dangerous." on the front hood of their car and then broke the driver side window and took a hammer to the steering column and ignition and destroyed it and left.

I got a call about two months later from the local police department and asked if I did it and wanting to have a conversation with me and I told them "No, but I remember those people had beef with everyone in the building and I haven't lived there in over 6 months." Never had any consequences or other questions.

That also tells me that those people had to spend time and energy reporting me to the police and realized no one could help them. I also know that their insurance rates probably went up from that claim in addition to any deductible.

If you really think the people you are dealing with are not good people, it's probably unwise to engage in illegal activity that destroys their property when they know exactly where you live. If they are genuinely watching you, they will know it was you that destroyed the camera. It's bad strategy all around.

u/cykoTom3 33m ago

Wow. That was an interesting read so i upvoted it. You should probably be careful about sharing that unless the statute of limitations is up.

u/Upbeat-Employ-3689 57m ago

This is why I would get naked and wear the laser on my body, wander around a while, do normal things, then hit a pose that fries their camera. Then when they present the evidence that you killed their camera they get in trouble!

2

u/FailedGradAdmissions 3h ago

OP was just playing with a laser and their cat… maybe they never knew there was a camera there

1

u/cykoTom3 3h ago

Exactly. Though i doubt this story will work if you have a fire starting laser.

u/Icy_Chemist_1725 53m ago edited 48m ago

Wrong! I actually had a neighbor do this to my camera that was pointing at the street. I reported it to police as damage to my property and my other camera caught them damaging my main camera. They got arrested for it. It's not illegal to point a camera at the street. This camera probably had a large and adjustable field of view. Proving that it was pointed at your home for malicious purposes is a lot harder than proving that you damaged their property.

Also keep in mind that if this person is actually a creep and is actually using a camera to record you in an illegal way, do you really want to create an escalation that puts you on unstable legal footing with a person that might be willing to not involve law enforcement at all. For all you know, you actually met a serial killer and now you're their focus.

Is that actually worth the risk for a camera that isn't that expensive? This camera shown is not that pricey anyway. The laser to destroy the camera will likely cost as much as the camera and will create a perfect paper trail showing you had a clear intent to destroy the property. Most people do not own lasers that can fry camera sensors.

u/StaticSystemShock 49m ago

Street in front of your house is not the same as this directly at window upwards. Can't be with anyone that has a bit of brain in law enforcement.

23

u/Stormagedd0nDarkLord 10h ago

Aim it at the neighbour. Then use the pellet gun.

2

u/eugeneorange 7h ago

I do belive we can automate this. We'd need to point a camera at the camera for image recognition. And if the neighbor decides to employ the same tactic...

1

u/Nknk- 7h ago

MAA - Mutually Assured Annoyance.

80

u/PtraGriffrn 11h ago

Hello Police. My neighbor is breaking my cameras with a green laser. 'How do you know?'. Well the video camera zoomed onto his bedroom window showed him pointing it at it. 'Uh, okay?'. Because of the angle too, I can see his upper chest and up, so I see it in his hands. .... end scene

37

u/Amcentee85 10h ago

"Sounds like a civil problem to me"

4

u/FionaFearchar 6h ago

An elderly woman calls the police to complain that her neighbour is constantly exposing himself in front of his window. When the responding officer arrives and asks where the incident is happening, she points across the street and says, "Over there!" The officer looks and says, "But ma'am, I can't see anything from here." The old lady indignantly replies, "Well, of course you can't! You have to stand on a chair!"

3

u/jekket 9h ago

why did I installed an unauthorized camera pointed at my neighbors balcony? uh uh I have to go bye beep beep beep

1

u/cykoTom3 4h ago

Camera authorization?

1

u/DelcoUnited 4h ago

“He’s holding it at crotch level and aiming it right at my camera. … Why was it filming at crotch level? “

9

u/Fabulous_Celery_1817 11h ago

Was just gonna suggest this laser laser laser

It’s so much cheaper

1

u/SolomonGrumpy 4h ago

Or better yet a shark with frickin lasers.

17

u/Nitrogen1234 11h ago

Laserpen will do a better job

23

u/SudhaTheHill 11h ago

Hawk is much cooler tho

1

u/ZombieTestie 5h ago

Is there any documentation on a laser pen actually disabling function of an ip camera?

u/Upbeat-Employ-3689 56m ago

Yeah buddy I killed your camera with my laserpeen!

9

u/Pardybro911 10h ago

Odyssey just came out get used to a sling or go full Dennis the Menace

23

u/frightful_zoo28 11h ago

Or a drone to accidentally knock it off

3

u/Stormagedd0nDarkLord 10h ago

why knock when you can liberate?

2

u/RoomyRoots 11h ago

A laser is very cheap

6

u/SudhaTheHill 11h ago

Yes but my grandkids would like the hawk story better

6

u/RoomyRoots 11h ago

Just glue it to an eyepatch and say you became a cyborg to down a predator.

1

u/Midnight_Pickler 4h ago

You have enough imagination to tell them the hawk story anyway.

3

u/GarbageMan262 10h ago

You can recruit a hawk for free in the woods. Theyre noble creatures.

2

u/GoneGone4 8h ago

What a reddit comment here.

1

u/cynomys2 10h ago

A lazor will do the job

1

u/Tkis01gl 9h ago

High powered laser pointer will fry it.

1

u/Huge-Ad-6016 9h ago

Trained hawks are partners, not pets.

1

u/sureredit 9h ago

Just put a laser pointer on a stand and point it right at the lens. The camera won't last long.

1

u/Special_South_8561 7h ago

Maybe get two ah them?

1

u/Admirable-Tea-5229 6h ago

Yeah they should get a hawk or two uh?

1

u/beren12 7h ago

Or just call the police that shit is illegal in most countries including the usa

1

u/TheVog 7h ago

Won't need to, that's an indoor model. The rain will take care of it.

1

u/PacoMahogany 6h ago

The future is flock vs flock

1

u/JefNoot 6h ago

He'll just befriend crows to protect him against the hawk.

1

u/BriefSpecial420 6h ago

Looks like cheap, AliExpress shit. I would double check if it isn't left with open ports in some unprotected WiFi network...

1

u/appointment45 5h ago

Not hawks, crows. Befriend the crows, teach them to hate that camera and that guy. It's not that hard and it will work, guaranteed.

1

u/c10bbersaurus 5h ago

Or pet pigeons to do some bombing runs.

1

u/No_Dot_4123 4h ago

I've heard that a laser pointer directed at a camera sensor can cause failure. Maybe someone can confirm. Seems like it might take a steady hand/tripod arrangement to get it for long enough and might leave a recording showing where it came from.

1

u/PloofElune 2h ago

Flock wants to know your location! Never mind, they already do!

1

u/Icy_Chemist_1725 1h ago

Or, hear me out, buy curtains for a bedroom window that is facing a public street and close them for privacy.

-4

u/Shermgerm666 11h ago

This.

4

u/axlfro 11h ago

Laser will fry the sensor. Just point it right in middle

0

u/holesofdoubt 8h ago

Training some crows is an option as well

-2

u/AzerothianLorecraft 9h ago

All you got to do is show this video to a police officer and they will go knock on the door and say that needs to be removed or pointed in another Direction. ( it's not really legal on Earth for any human to record another human without their consent it doesn't matter what somebody thinks.)
