Mastiff sized boots!

Hi mastiff-fam! We live in Alberta Canada so it gets cold here. I decided on picking up some foot protection for Benjamin so we can extend our walks a little bit and wanted to share that Muttluks fit him perfectly. They make lots of different styles and in these pictures Ben is wearing the fleece lined Muttluks with a leather sole. The size XL is perfect for him and they even make an XXL for the bigger dogs. I scored these second hand on Poshmark and they're so far the best $20 I've ever spent haha. Hopefully this helps someone else realize they'll fit!! Happy New Year!

Do all mastiffs moo or just mine?

My mastiff whines, moos, and growls like a gator. Almost never barks. Curious if this is common.

Beau! He’s such a sweetheart. 2 years old (according the shelter). Any advice for cooling/theraputic bed options for him? Should I just get a raised cot style bed? He seemingly only wants to lay on the hard/cool floor but I know they’re prone to arthritis etc so just want to be mindful of that. Anyone have a DDB and introduce them to resident cats and have any advice on that? (Currently keeping them separate as they get used to smells etc)

When to start joint supplements.

I've got a 5 month old pyr/mastiff mix. My pup was abandoned with me about a month and a half ago. He was sold to his previous owners as a 'maspyr'. I can't imagine someone who is breeding designer dogs had any concern for joint health when breeding their dogs. I've seen conflicting issues about when is best to start them on joint supplements. My other dogs all get them and so far I've just been giving this guy a regular treat when the rest of them get their joint supplement treats. None of my other dogs got them at all until my poodle lost a leg last year and keeping her remaining front leg healthy became a serious priority. All of my other dogs are quite a bit smaller though. I meant to ask the vet last week but it completely skipped my mind. I will, of course, put in a call to them but want to see what everyone else has done.

Sudden Joint Pain

Our girl is almost 6 years next month. She developed a mild limp this past weekend that has now progressed to her putting very little to no weight on her leg today. We have a vet appointment scheduled and have some pain medicine we've been able to give her. I'm just curious if anyone has any experience dealing with sudden joint pain with no actual injury we can think of. I think I am stressing because we unfortunately had to put our last dog down due to both of his rear ACL's rupturing at the same time and his poor outlook on quality of life. She's my whole world and I'm in tears thinking worst case scenario.

I know these are big dogs, prone to arthritis and joint issues.

I think I just needed somewhere to vent my fear without stressing out my family, but I'm terrified and heartbroken watching her in pain.

Still looking for consensus regarding the best puppy food for Torin the Pup

Willing to trade puppy pictures for information. Looking at the wide range of giant breed puppy foods and hoping to get feedback from people who have raised mastiffs who've enjoyed good joint and overall general health. Please don't suggest any Purina product, we have not and will not support anything Nestle owns.

Wondering if anyone has had any experience with Gentle Giant product line.
