I use this feedback to ensure my short-, medium-, and long-term goals are aligned with yours. I appreciate it!

Circular region shapes?

I regularly drop in areas using the region tool but can’t seem to find an easy way to do a circle other than eyeballing a lasso. I know there’s the polygon and rectangle tools, but when something is akin to a “X mile radius area” it’s difficult to do with my ugly ass guesstimate using the lasso. Does anyone have a suggestion on an easy way to accomplish a more uniform circle?

How do you add a picture to a project on the 'select project' page?

I like the new icons that show for each project/wiki, but how do I change it from the default globe-looking image to a custom image?

Feature Request: Manual Saving (?)

Hi! So I made the switch to LK - it's honestly amazing how much of WA's features are here already, pretty much everything I previously used or needed I have save 2 features that're already planned. It's funny how many things I've gone this thing is on WA, how can I hack my way to ha-- THEY HAVE IT! about, lol.

However, I've run into one minor UX annoyance - see, my articles are... pretty big. As a result, whenever the autosave (or the cloud upload? I'm not sure, all I know is when the lil cloud pops up by my icon I need to wait a bit) kicks in, the tab lags out for a bit. And since I type a lot fairly fast... I get kicked in the butt by lag and have to wait for it to catch up to me. Now, the lag isn't that bad! It's actually quite responsive for the most part to the point that it doesn't annoy me very much. But it IS getting me from time to time!

I'd like to suggest giving us the power to turn off the upload and manually save our projects - in base form, this would just take the shape of a floppy disk icon (the typical "save" icon) and rather than autosaving, we're expected to save on our own. Future versions could include a hey, you haven't saved in 10 minutes, save you fool! warning. That would likely also reduce some server strain since those of us with big-ass projects (me, I'm us) aren't cloggin' things up with frequent save requests at every few words added.

Honestly running some of the logic in a web worker probably would also do something similar (which we do have already!) but for low-performance machines I think having the option to just save on my own instead of make LK do it for me would be quite nice. Then again, I'm not sure how many of us have a use case for it/if there's that many people with projects that could be subtitled Big McLargeHuge, so it may not be worth the dev time. Iunno, what does everyone else think?

Rearranging tool broken?

When I try to move an image or body of text, LegendKeeper sticks me with the grabber hand icon and won't actually move the item. This has only happened since the recent big update.

Any tips?

I can't create an Event

I can't seem to create an Event. I've tried starting with a fresh timeline, an existing timeline. I've tried linking the event to an existing page and creating a new one with it. Nothing seems to work. The Chrome console logs report that it can't create an event because an event with the id already exists, except my timeline is empty.

Payment Methodes

Hi I am from Europe and have loved Legendkeeper. However now that I want to actually get a subscription I can only use a credit card or that link service (which also requires a credit card). Is there another way to pay such as Wero, or even Paypall. I am really interested in supporting this project, but the payment methodes are really lacking.

Events added to my timeline aren't entering with the elected date

As you can see above it should be in the month listed as Revelation, but the date which comes up is multiple months prior as Wisdom, not even on the same day of the month as I've selected.

WA import is blank?

Hello! So I was testing out LegendKeeper last night - unfortunately, all of my articles etc imported blank, none of my tags came over, nor any of my templates! :(

I'm using the paid WA export (so the ZIP you get from your API key), I checked all my JSON files included in the thing (all have the article text!). I additionally tried uploading just one JSON from outside the folder using drag-and-drop, but it said "no data found" or something akin. I also tested in Firefox (my daily driver) on a clean cache and in Chrome, both gave the same result.

I ran network and console queries, neither appears to have anything of value - only typical tracking cookie blocking complaints, lol. Any insight?

Pins or Regions?

Hello all,

Just a quick question in relation to the amazing Map feature.

I'm currently working on a worldbuilding project and transferring everything across from Google Drive to LK. I was wondering what people do when it comes to mapping mountain ranges, forests and islands?

I am in two minds about whether to create them as pins, or regions. I'm still relatively new to LK so asking if one holds a significant advantage over the other?

How to run D&D - Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage

Thumbnail

Choosing to embark on a playthrough of Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage, is the D&D equivalent of a spelunker wishing their beloved wife and child goodbye, as they dive into yet another terrifying hole in the ground.

It's easily one of the most iconic Dungeons & Dragons adventures, and is ideal for any group who yearns for some extremely meaty dungeon-crawling. But it can be intimidating to run - considering the sheer size of the dungeon, and the many, many horrible monsters, bloodthirsty drow, unhinged wizards, and deadly traps you'll need to manage within it.

This is where LegendKeeper comes in: learn how to make running Dungeon of the Mad Mage a much easier experience, by utilizing LegendKeeper's various worldbuilding and organizational features.

Is anyone else having trouble with pins? Spent sometime adding new pins to my map only for them not to be visible to my players on the shared link. But they're still present on my screen.

Increased Map Zoom

Greetings all! As the title suggests, wanted to make the suggestion to see if it would be possible to increase the zoom percentage for maps. I find that the 100% limit is unfortunetly somewhat limiting when placing pins on very specific points in my maps.

Other than that everything is gold! Keep it up LK team!

Calendar Widget?

With the introduction of timelines, my life has gotten so much better. The view styles, the ability to view event timelines together.. Can't get enough of it. My worldbuilding has become but a small fraction of the amount of use this software gets. Team - I love you, and you'll have my $11 forever.

I love the calendar view on a "timeline" tab. However, I'd love even more to be able to have that calendar appear as a small "widget" in a "text" tab. I have a landing page that acts as my current to-do lists / goals / etc. Having this small widget on the right side of a two-column layout.. Stunning.

Thanks again, LK Team!

Text/Lore Highlights

Hello, while working on my homebrew setting i was reminded of a smart feature from the games called "Pillars of Eternity 1 & 2" where there was text which was highlighted with green, and when you moused over them, or clicked the highlighted text, it would open a quick tooltip/glossary with a summary of the concept.

It was very useful for giving the player basic knowledge of something within the game world without having to deep dive into the lore journals, and i was wondering if it was possible to do something similar in Legendkeeper.

Currently im making concealed wiki entries and and linking them to the words or names i want the quick glossaries for, but im wondering if there is a better way.

I would love to browse through what the community is making on the platform and have people visit my Stellar Marches. Are there community pages in the works of LegendKeeper or portals that would allow members to wander the site?

Crazy timeline question... leap months?

Hi! I am trying to implement the lunisolar calendar into the timeline feature all by my lonesome, but a central feature of that calendar is the use of leap months, not leap days. Is there any way to do that and if not, could that be on the horizon?

the lunisolar calendar has awesome fantasy applications!

Also would appreciate an explanation on the Moons feature! Thanks!

Is there a way to make recurring events like holidays in the timeline / calendar feature?

As per the title. Would love to be able to set specific dates as holidays or festivals yearly, but don't see an option. Any ideas?

How to Build a Fantasy World

Thumbnail

Why are Westeros, Roshar, and Thedas such iconic fantasy worlds? What makes us want to experience stories set within in these worlds? Why do we eagerly gobble up any and all lore about these places?

Our latest blog post explores three key reasons as to why the worlds of A Song of Ice and Fire, The Stormlight Archive, and Dragon Age work so well, and what we can learn about building our own fantasy worlds.

What are your all-time favorite fantasy worlds? Are you fans of Westeros, Roshar, and Thedas? What elements would you change or improve about these three examples?

Alternate use for legend keeper... studying??

Hi, I just wanted to share my experience with this site! I didn't subscribe for Dnd (i've never played) or even writing. I got it to study for history: Yes, i took real world events and people and made like 6 different timelines to help study for my college level history course. I just felt I needed a way to see the succession of historical events, but my nation is very small and there are little resources made for my country's history to help me. Legend Keeper had the best timeline making software I could find to make it myself!

Now, i'm using it for world building in a story but you really saved my grade!

Quest Page Ideas

I am looking for tips or suggestions for how to implement a Baldur's Gate sort of style of active quest information storage. The sort of bullet points of quests with additional information expandable/sub quests?

I've played around with expand, bullet points, tables of contents, and tables, but haven't really found a format that I love yet. Has anyone tried something similar? Just something to organize quests and keep key information for player's to reference back to.

Option 1 Expanded
Option 1: Un-Expanded

Map Pin Issue

Firstly - I'm now obsessed with LegendKeeper and have spent a week transferring everything Player facing over from Notion ready for the start of a new Strixhaven campaign.
And as an ex-geography teacher - making the map has been my favourite part. 😍

But, I've now shared the world lore with players and the public map is not as need as my own. It seems to be overwriting pins with the linked page icon even when I have sync toggled off.

I want to keep my colour scheme and key - not have skulls and dinosaurs (that make the lore pages fun).

Any ideas why this is happening?
