Langley business owners — drop your business below so people can discover you 👇

2 weeks ago I asked everyone to list their favourite local businesses, and the response was unreal

Tons of great suggestions and a bunch of places I’d never even heard of.

This time, let’s flip it.

If you run a local business in Langley, drop it below.
Share what you do, your link, and anything you want the community to know.

There are a lot of people here who want to support local, and it’d be great to see what everyone’s building.

Looking forward to checking them out.

Cheers,
Anthony

Possible scam targeting people charging EVs at Shell (Langley)

Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up in case anyone else runs into this.
I was charging my EV at the Shell on 86 Ave and 200 St when a guy came up to my driver’s window. He told me his car had been towed by the city, his wallet was locked inside it, and he was stranded. He then said he had money in his bank account and wanted to e-transfer me and I could buy him stuff from the shell. He was like “you can call rcmp if you want to verify”
I told him, “No thanks, I’m not comfortable sharing my personal or banking details.”
He replied, “Why? I don’t want your money. I’ll pay you if you help me.”
I still said no, and he walked away.
Here’s the strange part: I went back to the same charger two days later, and the exact same guy came up to my car with the exact same story.
This time I asked him, “Why are you scamming people?”
He responded, “I’m not scamming. I’m still stuck.”
Maybe someone else has had the same encounter, but it definitely felt like a scam to me.

A Warning to All Grooms: Avoid Herman Menswear Langley

If you value your time, sanity, or have a major life event coming up, stay far away from Herman Menswear Langley. I ordered a custom seersucker suit here for my wedding with four months of lead time. The entire experience was defined by dishonesty, mismanagement, and zero accountability from the owner, Hashmat.

My wedding is in four days, and I am left empty-handed and dealing with immense stress. The timeline of their failure speaks for itself:

March: Picked out the fabric. The initial service was fine, which gave me a false sense of security. Despite wanting to be proactive and get my measurements taken in March, I was told to return in May and was reassured that this was plenty of time.

May: Measurements were taken and my first fitting was scheduled for June 26th. I was again assured this was plenty of time.

June 26th: I called the day before to confirm the suit had arrived. Yet, when I showed up with my family for the fitting, the suit wasn’t even in the building. Hashmat scrambled, completely lost, and blamed the mix-up on another customer with the same name. He promised a July 12th delivery and offered a complimentary custom shirt to smooth things over.

July 12th: I checked in. Tracking showed the suit hadn't even left China. I asked Lisa, the sales associate, and she was surprised that Hashmat promised a Sunday delivery when apparently they don't ever receive deliveries on Sunday. When I called Hashmat, he told me not to worry and claimed everything was on track.

July 15th: The suit finally arrived and was a total disaster. The jacket was so heavily over-pressed that the seersucker texture was completely ruined, and the fit was terrible. The pants were skin-tight and hemmed ridiculously short. I specifically asked for a wider, more classic fit and noted this when having my measurements taken. Instead, I received extremely skinny fit pants that felt like they were off the rack and not made to measure. Hashmat promised to place an immediate rush order for a new jacket and fix the pants. This was strange considering it took 1.5 months to receive the initial botched jacket and pants. Hashmat promised that the pants would be ready on July 20th.

July 20th (Today): I called to see if the pants were ready and was given the runaround. After digging for answers, I discovered they had outsourced the alterations to a local tailor, who informed me that Hashmat requested the alterations be done by July 22nd, conflicting with the July 20th date Hashmat committed to. July 22nd would have been just two days before my wedding. I went back to the store only to discover the "new" jacket they ordered was a completely different color than the pants.

When I got Hashmat on the phone, he deflected, offering endless excuses and blaming his supplier instead of taking accountability for his own business. I demanded a full refund and left to find a last-minute replacement elsewhere.

Hashmat avoided me at every turn, refusing to face a customer whose wedding he nearly ruined. I had to constantly hound this store just to get basic updates, only to be met with evasion. While I feel bad for the front-line retail staff who have to work under this management, the business itself is a disgrace. They failed to meet the most basic standards of professional customer service.

Do not trust them with your business, and absolutely do not trust them with your wedding.

Thinking about a Duplex near Willoughby

Hello!

Was hoping to get some general sense on value in this current market.

Roughly 2500-2600 sq/ft half duplex in around 197 st & 76 ave ish area. About 1.18M ($450 per sq/ft), 5 bed + den (including 2 bed basement suite). Does that sound like a decent price for the area? (Of course assuming most things check out after inspection)

Any general negatives to the area?

Thanks!

Affordable internet provider/plans?

Hello, I actually realized that I pay way too much for the internet - 1gbps for 125 from rogers - and I am planning to switch over to the cheaper one. I doubt I will need anything above 1gbps since my techs won't even take anything beyond. I've heard great things about Oxio, but they do not seem to provide in my area.

I live around willoughby/willowbrook area, and I would very much appreciate it if I can get some help with reducing internet bills.

Abandoned Car Update

Hey all! Some of you might remember my post from 3 months ago about a car that had been parked in front of my home on the street since February: https://www.reddit.com/r/Langley/comments/1su13za/abandoned_car/

Just wanted to provide a little update in case someone else might be in the same boat. It was an extremely frustrating ordeal, having to essentially sit and wait for bylaw to deal with this car. I put in complaint after complaint, week after week, as did my neighbours, and even called non-emergency who redirected me to put in another bylaw complaint. All the office did was come by once a week or so and put a new ticket on the car. It had amassed about 13-16 tickets by the end of all this. I spoke personally to the bylaw officer who said that they cannot tow the car (despite the fact that it had been sitting on the street since February, with its doors unlocked, and crowbar marks indicating someone had broken in) and are trying to build a case against the owner so that when they do eventually tow it, they can't claim they weren't warned. He said the car was not stolen nor abandoned and that it had valid insurance. Absolutely insane to have to "build a case" with multiple tickets for 5+ months.

Anyways, I spoke to someone that lived on the block who had also noticed the car, and they told me they had went through the car since the doors were unlocked. The person who owns the car actually lives half a block away in a nearby condo. His guess was that the owner of the car went back to his home country for an extended period of time, was subletting their apartment or AirBnbing it, and parked on our street so that the renter could have their provided parking space. Absolute asinine behaviour.

The car was finally towed last Tuesday. I can't believe how long it took.

Long story short, if a car is parked on your street for months and months and months at a time, bylaw won't do anything about it until they've ticketed it 15 times.

Future of free jazz festival is in peril — and we need your support!

Post image

Across B.C., dozens of beloved community festivals have been forced to close their doors due to skyrocketing operational costs and shrinking grant funding. While the Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival is proud to return this week (July 23–26) for our 9th consecutive year, the future of our free community weekend is at a critical turning point.

The festival generates $1.5 million in local economic impact each year, supporting local businesses, hundreds of musicians and crew members, and bringing our community together through the power of live music, art and culture. But without increased support, our two days of free programming are at risk for 2027 and beyond.

How you can help keep the music playing in Fort Langley:

Buy tickets to our headline concerts https://www.fortlangleyjazzfest.com/tickets

Make a direct donation to support our free stages

Wandering dog cineplex Langley area July 19

I was in the area at the Toca soccer centre yesterday and saw a dog doing laps around the complex. I called animal control because the poor thing was panting and looked really dirty and I couldn’t get him (or her maybe) to come to me. Animal control did come really quickly and called me back and said the dog was back with its owner. The officer was hesitant when I asked if the dog was okay with the owner, and I got the feeling it’s not a great situation. She said that dog is known to them, as is the owner, and then she asked if I had pictures of the dog. I didn’t, but she misheard and thought I said I did and she was very enthusiastic asking me to send to her. I explained I didn’t and she then asked if I lived in the area in case I could get a picture if I saw the dog again. I don’t live in the area though, but thought maybe someone knows or has seen this dog before. It sounds like there is something going on and I’m concerned maybe the dog isn’t okay. The dog is mostly white, with dark brown/black patches on his torso, medium size, looks like a collie type maybe, with a chain type collar around his neck. His neck is really dirty. If by any long shot someone knows of this dog and can get a time and date stamped photo and send it to me here, that would be amazing, or even contact them directly. Animal control was specific it would have to date and time stamped, although I’m not sure why. I did drive around the area as well to see if I could find the house where he was, but no luck.
This could be a total shot in the dark, but I’m still thinking about the poor little bub so I figured I might as well try.

Looking for Saxophone Teacher!

Hello I (28M) am looking for a saxophone teacher. I have some musical experience with drums (10 years) and have played the saxophone in early high school and am looking to get back into it. I would prefer to have a teacher that is based in Langley but am not opposed to traveling if the teacher is good. I am probably looking to get more into jazz and funk but again if the teacher is really good and rates are good I am not opposed to learning from a classical teacher as learning music theory would probably be really good for me.

If it helps I also work in Surrey and can travel after work to somewhere near me (new west or coquitlam).

looking for recommendations! Please let me know who you are recommending, if they have a website or any accolades and how you know the teacher (i.e. are you a student of theirs or did you play with them in a band/orchestra, are they a friend etc.)
