In SF for work this week and decided to try Square Pie Guys for the first time since the KF crew love em so much. It was amazing!

Was great to hear a snippet of Tim’s thoughts since the Doomsday trailer, and I feel both were mostly on the same page. However, I feel Blessing is missing the point of the “comics” culture the Marvel shows have slightly emulated. There’s always a plethora of stories being printed and a lot vary from fine, bad, to wtf. But it makes the great/ wow this is special stories stand out even more.

Idk if it was for the bit or because the discussion was getting more animated, but toward the ending Blessing’s position sounded more like “Well I didn’t like/ watch it…. Well people didn’t watch it so it doesn’t matter” argument which I feel many can relate is a disingenuous take to have. Cuz we if we really wanna get it into it then we can take that argument to video games: “This was great but no one played it so why xy and z.”

Everyone can agree, MCU is over saturated, but Tim is also correct the audience should stop treating it as homework cuz MCU did that already for things like Wonderman, eyes of wakanda, etc. Great shows with no necessary tie in. If we take Blessing’s argument at face value “Just stop and give me something great every now and then,” then we never get Wonderman, Loki, even titles like Guardians of the Galaxy, Shang-chi, because we then give way to the current games and Hollywood industry problem: money is only going to known IP and surefire hits. Hope you like rebooting Spider-Man for the 10th time

Not really a shock at the moment. I do wonder if it becomes more of a subscription based future that costs more than a console over time.

This is in response the Monday's GC where Greg was musing on whether he's still a good reviewer or not. Just wanted to throw my opinion out there that he's still very good at it.

The thing I love about a Greg review is that he has a very straightforward way of explaining himself and he always seems very prepared; I think he's said before that he likes to take notes while playing for review and it shows. It means that if he has a criticism to make, it always feels well thought out and articulated and he'll usually have specific examples on hand of whatever he's talking about. So often when I'm playing a game after listening to his review, I'll find myself thinking "oh that's what Greg was talking about".

I wouldn't say I always agree with his opinion (especially these days as I feel our tastes have diverged since the Beyond and early KF days), but I always come away from a Greg review feeling like I understand what he was trying to convey.

Anyway all that's to say don't stress Greg, you still got it.

I want to start writing essays, specifically about gaming, but I am having trouble finding inspiration. This would be my first piece of writing since college, and I don’t know where to start. KFBFs, do y'all have any food for thought?

I got watching Linus Tech Tips and they were talking about someone who figured out how to save steam games with a launcher in custom made cartridges. With all of this news of people not making games anymore this is fantastic.

Hey KFBFs, this might get taken down if it violates rule 6 but figured I’d give it a shot since it’s in KF’s backyard and in case there are any Knocked Loose fans here. I got 2 tickets to the show at the Cow Palace in Daly City on Halloween but we’re not going be able to go. Reselling through Ticketmaster is disabled for the show, but I can transfer them so I figured I’d see if any KFBFs in the Bay Area/NorCal want them. I paid $83 each so that’s all I’m posting them for. We can figure out a way to do an online agreement or something like that as well so everyone is comfortable with the arrangement. Thanks!

Hello, im relatively new to listening to the podcasts, and im curious how each of the employees were hired? As in the process, knowing they were patreon funded since the beginning i assume they were really open on who they were hiring and why, and how theh found each of the talented employees. For example was there a trial period etc.

I’m vaguely familiar with the process Mike took to get hired full time, but im curious to everyone’s process.

It’s really a shame what’s happened to them, and it feels like the studios that have popped up from ex-Criterion people have faired so well so far. Hopefully Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Wreckreation 2 can turn things around.
