With our family growing, I gave up my home office so our little daughter could have her own room. To make it work, I transformed our attic into two new spaces: a spacious bedroom for my son and a compact office where I can work from home during the day and enjoy gaming and my other hobbies in the evenings.
It was a challenging project, but seeing it all come together made every hour worth it. I’m really happy with how it turned out!

I’ve been working remotely since a while now and getting used to this took some time. For me personally my work space really matters since I am spending around 8 to 9 hours working on various projects and focusing and staying productive really matters to me.
A few months ago I decided to change the setup and got myself some new furniture and a standing desk and got rid of my previous one since it was taking a lot of space.

Also added a new ergo keyboard and monitor arm and these changes have helped me a lot in actually being at ease. I got one of those antifatigue mats so when I stand I am much more comfortable and can easily manage it without my feet hurting.

One thing I want to add now are some plants just for a change as well. I wanted some advice on what did you guys add to your office corner to make it more comfortable? Any changes or things in specific?

This is my first home office. Also my first gaming pc (not pictured.) all of the items are subject to change. it seems everyones sweet setups have the desk against a wall, but i cant decide. I like it in the center of the room but worry once i get monitor arms and everything if it’ll look messy? Or if placing against a wall will make the room feel too big? Im going to make one or two walls black, and going for that cool back lighting vibe when its all said and done. Please help!

I have a box room that serves as a home office. Its not really set up well and the main issue is location of plug sockets. They are about 60cm high and in strange locations (red X on plot). I'd like them hidden by desks but suspect that will require L-shaped to hide wires.

I need to recored some instructions videos for work and would like something a bit more sleek and modern. Dark wood and dark wall and getting rid of the old writing desk. I'm thinking wooden slats behind the desk (pretty standard stuff now i know).

The missing corner in the box room makes things awkward. I need to do face to camera and suspect desk behind for that is best. I have no clue how to arrange desks L-shaped or even u shaped.

I need lots of storage and ideally a standing desk. Was considering the ikea Alex desk hack with a walnut top on a standing frame but not sure how you do that with the L-shaped needed to hid plugs.

Or do I just chase the wall and move the plugs and stick with a straight desk.

I'm not really any good at this. Any advice or idea pictures would be really appreciated. Thank you.

I'm looking to upgrade my pc setup and could use some advice for buying a new gaming monitor. My budget is around $600–$800 (flexible if the value is worth it).

Currently about to renovate my home office. I work from home and spend 10+ hours a day in front of the monitor. Current office is cluttered with extra furniture and has somewhat become more of a storage room over the years instead of a dedicated office.

Planning on using the key office furniture that I already have - and reorganizing / parting ways with everything else I have in the room (think extra love seat couch, bike, storage bins of holiday decorations etc..). So what's pictured in the examples above is what's staying. Large opening wall opening shown in image #1 is a closet with siding doors.

Does the desk orientation make a major difference? I currently have my desk in the same position as image #1 but the back light from the window tends to be a pain - but directly under the window is too bright and I don't care to have my back to the door. Any suggestion? Might have answered my own question, but would love some input.

This is the absolute biggest scam of the century! Sitting at my home office desk 8+ hours a day and trying to see which material actually holds up. my old fake leather seat started peeling after a year, and I keep hearing cheap mesh just stretches and sags. I've had a nouhaus mesh chair for about 12 months now and the seat tension is still fine, so I'm convinced good mesh doesnt sag easily. Still deciding if I should stick with mesh for the next one or just try fabric instead.

i'm setting up a proper home office after switching to full-time WFH, and im stuck on the mesh vs leather debate. i'll be sitting in this thing 8+ hours a day, sometimes longer when i'm gaming after work. only ever used cheap faux leather chairs from amazon. they're soft at first but after a year the padding flattens, the faux leather starts peeling, and my back is wrecked by friday. i like the idea of a plush leather executive chair because it feels comfortable when im tired, but i keep reading that mesh is better for long hours because of breathability and support. name-brand models tend to deliver a better overall user experience.the thing is, i don't want to drop $1k on a used herman miller right now. been looking at mid-range mesh options like the nouhaus ergo3d or branch, all in that $250 to $400 range. but i also saw some leather-look chairs like the nouhaus Posture that seem more living-room-friendly if you don't have a dedicated office room. does mesh actually hold up better over time, or does it sag after a year or two? also, how aesthetically does it fit with a regular desk setup?right now i'm leaning toward the ergo3d because my room gets hot, but i don't know if the mesh will stretch out before the faux leather would have peeled anyway.

Finally got my home office corner where I want it. L-desk in the corner to save space, standing desk legs, laptop as the daily driver with the monitor for extra room.
The thing I’m happiest with is the light bar on the shelf — it turns red on its own whenever I’m in a meeting (Teams, Zoom, Slack, or a Discord call), or I do it manually when I need focus on my work, so my family knows not to walk in mid-call without me having to remember to flip anything. Cut down the interruptions a lot.
Right side doubles as a little electronics bench when I’m tinkering. Still deciding whether to hide the printer or embrace it.
Anyone else automate their “on a call” signal, or is everyone still using a sticky note on the door?

Been doing 8hr+ WFH days on a faux leather chair for about a year. By lunch my back is basically a swamp. kept seeing mesh recommended for breathability but also heard its overhyped.

Sat in a friends nouhaus ergo3d for a full workday and the mesh back definately felt less sticky. but that was just one day. For anyone who switched to mesh long term, does it actually stay cooler through summer or does it just trap sweat differently?

I'm an accountant consultant working fully remote, and my job doesn't care where I work from as long as it's in the U.S.A. I'm hoping to travel more and work from a rental or coworking space.

Since 18.5 inches is the largest I can get that will fit in my carry-on, I purchased two 18.5 inch portable monitors with a kickstand, they're pretty terrible and cheap honestly but they work fine. The nature of my work requires multiple screens.

The worst part is them sitting on the desk (below eye level) and angled upwards due to the kickstand. I'm looking for a product to help them stand upright

I was looking into it and while I'm researching, I came across this subreddit so I'll just put a post out here too - do you have any advice for creating and traveling with a functional portable workspace setup with multiple screens?

Weird thing is i'm fine while sitting. its when i stand up after a few hours that may lower back starts complaining. Chair issue or just me getting old?

Thought I’d share my recent purchase - this tiny standing desk. I still have some tweaking to do, but I love the option of working here and having a window to look out of! I have a more extensive setup in a different location.

My girlfriend and I are moving in together, and the only space where we can set up our home office is about 220 cm wide. So we're wondering whether it's better to get one large desk or two smaller ones.

I am working in an IT company and I get around 40-50k that can be used to buy office related items like chair, table, monitor, headphones (sadly no tab/computer or laptops) to setup my home office.

I bought a good setup last year and I don't need anything else.

I need suggestions so I can use this money to buy some more items that maybe has some good resell value in the future.
