I worry more about my Jerry Cornelius family + Birthday Party as i am like Albert Einstein of creators
Happy birthday to me since I am a Moorcock & Hawkwind fan since my teens in the 80s - Release the bats. Ghosteen & Peter Hammill gig November 27th. My desire to create art & writing is mythology of the past .. I rest on my laurels in my new Jerusalem & hotel life with the Entropy Tango with Telia - the balance is true Neutral in the multiverse. I don't play RPG games so... Whatever! Cheers from Norway.... Stormbringer coming!

Hawkwind Legacy & the champions of SF literature of course
My intro to Hawkwind was the Flicknife & GWR albums November 1988... Akers Mic record shop Oslo. I am a Moorcock fan since 1986 and a comics guy. My desire to create art & writing is mythology of the past .. I rest on my laurels in my new Jerusalem & hotel life with the Entropy Tango with Telia - the balance is true Neutral in the multiverse. Long may they fly!

Hawkwind Books wanted
Hey everyone! I'm looking for books about the band Hawkwind. If you have any such books and aren't willing to sell them, please feel free to contact me. Ideally, the person should be from Germany, like me, so that shipping costs won't be too high.

Ever thought there was something missing from the Deluxe Editions?
I started being interested in multi-channel and binaural recordings in the late seventies, and was disappointed that Hawkwind and other bands didn't embrace the concept more.
Levitation was billed as a headphone album, but its production was too sterile, and it was not a great headphone album.
Fast-forward way too many years to count, and with the release of the goodies from Cherry Red, I decided to try my hand at the exceptional 5.1 mix of Space Ritual; I set out to create a binaural Space Ritual album. The steps below are for MacOS:
Rip the Blu-ray using MakeMKV to create the .mkv (the timestamp will be different)
Remove the video and create the .mka using MKVToolNIK
Using the following command:
ffmpeg -i Hawkwind\ -\ Space\ Ritual.mka -af "pan=stereo|FL < 1.0*FL + 0.707*FC + 0.707*SL + 0.5*LFE | FR < 1.0*FR + 0.707*FC + 0.707*SR + 0.5*LFE" -c:a alac -ar 96000 -sample_fmt s32p SpaceRitual_Binaural.m4a
This assumes you have ffmpeg installed (use homebrew to download and install)
- Create a .cue with the following text
PERFORMER "Hawkwind"
TITLE "Space Ritual Binaural"
FILE "SpaceRitual_Binaural.m4a" WAVE

- Open XLD and extract the individual tracks
I've used .m4a as I use Apple Music, but the files could be as easily converted to FLAC by substituting the desired format in ffmpeg command, replacing alac with flac, and replacing the file extension with .flac and updating the .cue file accordingly.
I'll be happy to answer any questions aside from how to do this in Windows - I haven't got a clue!
I'm not going to share the files aside .cue file upon request
And before you ask, binaural on good cans is way better than the 5.1 experience! Shame on you Cherry Red, for not including a binaural mix!

Hall of the Mountain Grill - Stephen W Taylor remixes
Well, I finally got hold. of my copy of the latest Hall of the Mountain Grill reissue and immediately put on the Blu-ray disc. Headphone trippy style, I have a hankering for a spliff with D-Rider to get that out-of-my-skull feeling. Only three tracks in, shame that Nik's tumeless squonking on Psychedelic Warriors wasn't supressed/eliminated from the mix entirely. Looking forward to the remixes of You'd Better Believe It and Paradox .... Web Weaver is fantastic BTW

Where have I been?
I’m a man of the seventies and love prog but how the hell has Hawkwind passed me by? I have always loved Silver Machine but never bothered to listen further. Today for the first time in my 65 yrs I’m listening to Master Of The Universe and am blown away! What a trippy album. I know nothing about Hawkwind other than Lemmy was linked somewhere. Educate me people 👍

new 'Psychedelic Selection' album, my two cents
No one asked for it, but this is what the sub is for and I like to talk Hawkwind.
The new album is a compilation of new, live, and redone older tracks - a bit like OUT AND INTAKE, or IN YOUR AREA. OVERALL, the album seems closest to ELECTRIC TEEPEE (which is NOT a bad thing, IMHO)
1) Four Legs Good Two Legs Bad - a short Dave Brock spoken work/slight vocals piece....short and quick intro to the album
2) There are Fairies in the Garden - sounds like a track recorded in last few years that didn't find on any previous albums. A lighthearted, synthy track w/Dave's vocals
3) Hurry on Sundown - great faithful remake w/echo-y harmonica and great guitar/fast drums... a good version
4) The Demented Man - this feels like a lesser-quality cover than the above track. The vocals are just slightly slightly off timing from original... it's good, but not great
5) Tortured Mind - Hawkwindy rythms and Dave Brocky singing....full on song with vocals
6) The Land of Min - 6 min fast paced synth-heavy instrumental piece... (some harmonica as well)
7) Part of Human Behavior (No Sex Allowed) - some sax on this one... Dave Brock spoken wordy over synth based beat
8) Those Days Of The Underground - a re-working of DAYS OF THE UNDERGROUND....different rhythm than the org with a slow, instrumental guitar driven w/those HW spacey effects... I like this better than the original track! It has a wistful old-man-reflecting-on-life feel
9) Out of Luck - good bridging/transitional track w/Hawkwind guitar/synth rhythms. Not a stand out track, but works for where it is.
10) PSI Power - close to the org remake, but heavier (not acoustic). I prefer the original, but a fun more energetic cover.
11) Human Zoo - new track, kinda repeats the song title as lyrics (not much more), and has the various couple of song changes you expect with these type Hawkwind tracks.
12) The Judge and the Fisherman - quirky synth rhythm with Indian Female narration at start, and then ramps up to a drum-led fast paced weird one. I dig it and Richard can still kill on the drums.**
13) Goonhilly Downs** - instrumental, synthy, fast paced and changing.
14) Oceans Sprial - shorter synth bass and drums piece
15) Traveller of Space - a slightly diff version of the track off the last album. I actually like this one a bit better.
Overall, again, very much like Electric Teepee vibes.... I'll be spinning this one for a while!

Bob Calvert book a few years back
The Clyvedon Press Robert Calvert anthology book published some years ago in the midst of corona panic. I should really splurge for a copy but fear it's too late. Edited by Jill & Nick Calvert & Chris Purdon.
