How to change settings to battery
Got my fox ess in self use all going to grid instead of battery. Can change this setting or it's something to do installation?

I have a Fox ESS AIO with 5kWh inverter
I'm with Octopus Energy
- Octopus Go for import (8.6p 00:30-05:30, 31.3p 05:30-00:30)
- Agile Outgoing (dynamic rates [e.g. 10p-20p/kWh], often peaking late afternoon/early evening)
I have a EV charger which I have limited to 4.5kWh and enabled 09:00-15:00 and 00:30-05:30 so that I only have minimal import when charging (mainly using solar or battery).
I currently have Mode Scheduler set as
05:30 - 00:30 : Self Use
00:30 - 05:30 : Force Charge
Do these settings seem sensible?
I see there's an Octopus Agile option - is this for their import or export tariff (or both)?
Thanks

A new 5.6 MWh industrial battery storage (BESS) project just went live in Salzburg, showcasing how the ROI of high-capacity hardware is completely dependent on an intelligent Energy Management System (EMS). Instead of acting as passive backup capacity, the setup uses an AI-driven system to dynamically shave monthly 15-minute grid peaks and trade on volatile intraday markets.
It makes you wonder how well this logic translates to residential setups. For those running local home automation, the boundary between a "dumb" solar battery and a truly optimized home EMS is becoming razor thin.
If you are running home storage and managing dynamic, time-of-use tariffs (like Octopus Agile or Tibber): * How are you handling EMS logic? Have you migrated to algorithmic or predictive tools (such as WattWise via AppDaemon, EMHASS for linear programming optimization, or custom HACS peak-shaving blueprints)? * Does it beat basic scheduling? If you transitioned from fixed time-of-day Home Assistant automations to dynamic, forecast-driven logic (balancing Solcast solar predictions against rolling spot-price intervals), are the actual hardware wear costs and round-trip efficiency losses worth the marginal gains?

I've had this system now for over 9 months.
In the last 3 months, I noticed that the rate of charge from 90% to 100% is much faster than the rate of charge up to 90%.
The reverse also applied with discharge. The battery discharges from 100 to 90 in very little time
Also when the battery is at 100% and it discharges say 1KW, the battery SOC remains 100% and does not recharge the 1KW
This behaviour was not the case in the first 3-4 months after the installation.
Does anyone know if this is just battery degredation, Firmware issue or is it a defective battery

Please be aware of Fox ESS's warranty terms and conditions: customers have only 36 months from the installation date to register for warranty certification.
Registration extends the standard warranty as follows:
- Inverters: 10 years
- Batteries: 12 years
For warranty purposes, self-installation of Fox ESS batteries is acceptable because they are part of the Fox ESS distribution network and are typically delivered directly from Fox ESS.

Hey there! Just wanted to let you know I saw yesterday that the new Fox Cloud 2.0 app for iOS now has a cool widget you can pop onto your home screen! Even though the widget doesn't update instantly, popping it onto your home screen is a great way to keep your app logged in. That way, you won't get logged out like you normally would. Oh, and good news, the app and the widget are also good to go on Macs!

New adopters might have noticed a small amount of power flowing from the grid into their inverters. This flow is necessary for the inverters to synchronize with the grid.
Users who adopted the technology early and have older inverters cannot do anything about this issue. However, those with newer inverters, such as the H1-G2 and KH series, can address this through a setting in their inverter's firmware or software.
This setting in the firmware called "meter compensation" stops this.
That said, meter compensation can only be adjusted in the app by an installer account.
Owners, you can configure this setting yourself by accessing the inverter menu. It's typically located within the inverter's settings. A common setting is -25, which directs the power flow back to the grid.

I recently moved to a new property and arranged for my Fox KH10.5 inverter to be removed and reinstalled at my new residence.
During the removal process, the electrician was unable to disconnect one of the PV MC4 connectors from the inverter, Please see the above photograph for reference. As a result, the cable had to be cut in order to remove the inverter.
I would appreciate your guidance on the correct method for removing this connector, as it appears to be stuck or faulty.
Additionally, after relocating the inverter, I noticed that this particular connection rotates around its axis, whereas the other PV connections remain fixed and do not rotate. This has raised concerns that there may be an issue with the connector or the inverter input itself.
Please help

Apologies for the brief outage but it appears Reddit had locked my account for security reasons and this had the knock on effect to render the group private.
Everything should be back to normal now, but if you still have issues posting, just reach out to me and I'll fix it promptly. Cheers!

As the title really, I used to be able to set this parameter on the web browser, if it was set to 100% it would stop anything using battery power during its charge session. Ideal for off peak tariffs.
However, now it seems to have disappeared unless someone can guide me to what I'm missing?? TIA

Hello everyone,
I am an installer based in Europe, and I am currently facing a massive headache with the Fox Cloud 2.0 platform. I need to migrate 75 PV systems (Plants) from my current standalone Installer/Agent account to a partner company’s Master Agent account .
The problem is that I registered my current account as an independent Agent, so the app doesn't allow me to change the hierarchy or assign myself as a Sub-Agent under their organization directly from the user interface.
Here is the situation:
The Support Issue:
I have tried calling every single official FoxESS support number available (Romania, Germany, UK, and even China). The lines are completely dead or unanswered. I also submitted an urgent ticket via Zoho Desk and sent emails to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) and [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) with all the data organized in an Excel sheet, but I am being completely ghosted.
My Questions for the Community:
If there are any FoxESS administrators, engineers, or reps lurking on this subreddit, please DM me. My business is completely halted because of this database lock.
Thank you all!

I have foxess cq6, kh10 inverter, 42kw.
I can charge from the grid but it won’t go any higher than 2.5kw.
I’ve checked the input limit, it’s set to 14.5kw
I’ve checked the charge limit, it’s set to 50a
It’s not cold, battery is above 15c
Any ideas?

I am new to the FoxESS world and have recently had a KH10 inverter and 42kWh battery installed to pair with my existing 14.6kW solar panels.
When I set the inverter to force charge at the 10kW rate, I am seeing on the FoxCloud app up to 15kW coming from the grid.
Last week the breaker between the inverter and the grid tripped during this charge time.
I had the installers come back to look at it and the breaker was 40Amp instead of 50Amp so they changed it.
However I am not see the 15kW import and wondering why it gets so high?
Is it that the 10kW setting for force charge is the amount going to the battery, not what the inverter pulls?
This would make sense at the moment as I have a house load of 5kW and can see 11kW going to the battery and have 1kW coming from the panels.
Is this all going through the 50Amp breaker between the inverter and grid, or is only the 10Kw that is set going through it?

Hi all!
I've had solar for a few months now but only recently had a smart meter installed. However when looking at the smart meter reading it says for a given day 28kwh pulled from grid and 7kwh exported. However the foxess app shows no power exported and 15kwh fully self consumed. The battery is 30kwh and had ample spare capacity so why would the app say no power exported but smart meter claim 7kwh?
Given the big difference in solar feed in vs grid that difference is a few dollars a day.

Hope someone can help, I'm subscribed to Nabu casa so some Fox entities are showing in Google Home but then Battery soc is not? I want to ask Google home that the better level is. Is there a way to do this? In the meantime time I've set up an automation within Home assistant so that when the battery is at 50 or 90% it broadcasts to speaker, but would be nice to manually ask speakers . Thank

My KH8 inverter would make the typical coil whine if it got to about 55°C.
My solution? Well, I have Home Assistant, so I have all kinds of options. I decided to take the inverter temperature and have it switch on some cheap usb 140mm PC case fans if the temperature gets to 50°C
Seems to work well, and no coil whine. Total cost under £15. (I already had a spare smart plug)
Before and after temperatures for illustration.

I felt like I have two different issues, but they seemed to happen at the same time for me.
I had installed the H1 inverter and 11.5kW battery last month. It worked well for the first few weeks, but then I went onto the IOG tariff and tried to figure out the charging strategy as I had the issue with the battery draining while charging during the IOG EV charging, instead of drawing from the grid.
I tried to change the SoC from grid to a higher percentage so that it would not draw from the battery during the charging.
But for some unknown reason, the inverter now keeps thinking the minimum SoC is 50%, even though I had changed it multiple times on the app. It even did a weird thing that kept reverting to 50% immediately after I changed it. I tried to use Home Assistant to maintain the minimum SoC at 11%, and it kept trying to get to 50%, stop discharging and started drawing from the grid.
Also, around the same time, the inverter went offline intermittently, sometimes overnight, sometimes during the day. Initially, it would return, but now it goes offline for days on end.
I had contacted the FoxESS engineers, who tried the firmware update and they seemed to be able to see the inverter from their back end, but it was not updating via the cloud. And even on the Home Assistant, it was showing as offline. After a week of troubleshooting, they said they will send out a 4G dongle to install. I am still waiting for the delivery.
But I was wondering if anyone else had the same issue, battery not keeping to stated SoC and also inverter going offline?

It's been like this since we installed our battery 2 months ago and it's really strange. Even the Octopus app confirms that energy is going out to the grid.

I made a small browser extension for the web Fox ESS Cloud V2 for myself and thought the community might want to play with it.
I don't plan on installing Home Assistant so I've just made some modifications to the web portal, via a browser extension, to suit my needs. The extension only has 3 settings at the moment:
I plan to expanding it more if I feel that some quality of life can be added. Feedback welcome.
