Other 💬 What are the best available organizations for Computer Science related fields?
I've looked at all the options but the closest I've found was the INIT organization, and I've already joined

Looking to sublease your unit? Scrambling to find a place to stay during the upcoming semester? Look no further! Here, you’ll be able to share or find available housing around campus.
PLEASE NOTE: ANY POSTS ABOUT SUBSLEASING THAT ARE MADE OUTSIDE OF THIS THREAD WILL BE REMOVED.
Additionally, this thread is for subleasing OFFICIAL FIU on/off-campus housing only. This is NOT the place to share rooms/apartments available to be rented on a private residence. Posts identified as such will also be removed.
Your unit “ad” (to be commented below) must include the following information:
The following information is ideal, but optional. Please include it if you know it.
Comments that do not follow the format above will be removed until the OP makes the necessary corrections as instructed.
If you’re successful in finding someone to sublease your dorm, please edit and type closed on your comment, or simply delete it. Furthermore, you can only share your unit once per thread, but feel free to share it again on the next biweekly thread if your dorm is still available.
You're more than welcome to share that you're looking to takeover a lease below. Ideally, your comment should state your preferences for the categories mentioned above. The more information you share about what you're looking for, the more likely someone will reach out about an available unit that will suit your needs. If you have no preferences, you can state that too.
Always proceed with extreme caution when inquiring about available dorms, as rental scams are becoming increasingly common and college students are viewed as an easy target. Unfortunately, r/FIU can’t help you if you become a victim of a scam. The best way to protect yourself is by staying alert and learning how to recognize potential red flags.
Below you’ll find some helpful articles on how to avoid getting scammed:

Hi guys,
I am an international student and recently received my admit. But there is no mention of Funding/stipend in my offer letter.
Does that mean I'm unfunded, or how does it work? I would also love to chat with fellow applicants who are coming for fall 2026 intake

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone has received their 2026–2027 financial aid award package yet, or if anyone knows when FIU usually starts releasing them.
Has anyone else gotten this? I already spoke to the Financial Aid Office through the onestop live chat as well as student financials and they just said that I have to wait it out. I'm mainly worried about it affecting my enrollment and registration for both fall and spring.

Hiii i’ve been going to FIU for almost 2 years now about to graduate, but i’m curious on if there’s any studio spaces available for people to go and make art. I’m looking to find some art friends or just friends in general.

Most of the 109 Tower posts here are almost a year old, and I’m looking for more recent residents and their experiences, specifically by those in 4x4 units.
I’d love to hear more about the maintenance, management, cleanliness, and anything else you’d want to share about living there, especially in regards to quality of life, I’ve heard there’s been a lot of recent changes.
Feel free to chime in! (:

Hello Panthers! I am currently applying for graduate school, and wanted advice for getting recommendations from professors at FIU. I graduated in spring 2026 and am concerned that I might not be able to get any. Does anyone have advice? Thanks in advance! 😊✨️

I have a project i wanna do on a bigger scale but I need some lab equipment, could I just ask permission for a room once a week so I can conduct some tests (the project specifically is an ecosystem that starts with plain water, I did this before but wasn't able to get far)

I enrolled for the Intro to Crime Scene Investigation through the above link. I haven’t received any kind of link on where to access the course, no login information, nothing. Just a receipt showing the translation… anybody know if this is legit or not?

I’m a rising senior and Fiu is one of my top schools but it’s a commuter school and I really wanna know if it’s hard to make friends or find a friend group? I’ll be coming out of state and I don’t wanna be isolated or have no friends 😔

Has anyone done the Research Design & Analysis program? Just wondering what your experience was. I just applied and I'm also being impatient and wondering when I'll find out their decision on admissions. 😅

I am a transfer student and even though I feel like I already know the answer to this. I've been placed on the waitlist because I had a problem with financial aid and them putting a hold on my account so which was completely their fault and I currently have summer housing and I have to be out on the 1st of next month but the funny thing is I'll have no where to stay I've tried contacting the school about it and funny enough because I'm out of state | literally kid you not someone told me to my face go back home because they can't provide me housing mind you 1. I drove 14 hours to get here 2. literally can't go back home. Safe to say will be transferring again

Hello everyone, I’m looking to get a head start on the course. If anyone has a syllabus, doesn’t have to be a recent one, I just want to get a general idea on the topics.

I’ve lived at 4th Street Commons for two years, it’s an off-campus apartment building close to the main FIU campus, and just wanted to let people know my experience so far.
The rental rates are pretty low, but the experience living here has always been bad.
My entire floor was just flooded since a faulty sprinkler went off, and we’ve suffered from flooding in the past, shoddy maintenance, infestations, and management that never listens. On some occasions we even had to leave temporarily due to damage.
My living area and bedroom both suffered from pretty bad water damage. There’s also other issues, such as a real lack of parking, insane rent raises/fees ($100 key replacement), and the building itself is rarely cleaned, there’s always some pet waste or trash in the hallways.
I would definitely recommend the surrounding apartments, such as 109 Tower or Lapis, they’re a tiny bit more pricy but, the management at 4th Street couldn’t be worse.

So I enrolled for Chem 2 and Chem 2 lab for the summer and I have bright futures, however I didn’t know that you needed to be enrolled in at least 6 credits to get your award and I cant afford to pay $1000 for the class. If I don’t pay, what happens? Will I be able to get dropped from the class with no negative repercussions?

Sometimes when I login it works and other times it says failed authentication, does anyone know why? I got admitted two months ago and I'm starting in August, I hope this gets better.
