Hi guys. I'm traveling to see the fringe. I am a stand up comic and have a decent social media following with a lot of standup reels that went viral. What's the best way to find 5 min or 10 min spots in compilation shows.? Or lineup shows. Do those exist?

This is a project I have been quietly preparing for the last year or so when I discovered there's no one currently trying to archive flyers from across the fringe, and I am ready to go for this year's festival.

I'm going to be out around the main flyering hubs as often as I am able trying to collect as many unique flyers for the collection as I can, with the aim of (with permission) digitising them and creating an online gallery.

My day job is in archiving, and I also performed at the fringe for many years. I think my first fringe was back in 2012 and I was fascinated by flyers from the get go. I would sometimes turn them into collages at the end of the month (one of which lives on my mother's kitchen wall, and contains a flyer from my now partners show from a full decade before we met!).

TLDR: what should an email to a press photographer say?

Hi all, I’ve been working my way through the festivals media contact list, getting in touch with reviewers from publications who seem like they would be interested in my work. I feel like I’ve got my email pitch fairly down for those guys, having done a fair bit of research.

I’ve noticed however on the media contact list there are also press photographers. I’d like to reach out to a few, especially because I know I have a very interesting costume and physical style so I think some of them may be interested in taking photos. I just don’t really know what to say in my email to them. I’ve tried searching Google but can’t find anything particularly helpful with this. Does anyone have any advice for what to put in my emails?

I'm looking to buy tickets to a show that's offering 2 for 1 tickets, but can't figure out if I'm meant to add one or two tickets to my cart. The wording of "2 x 2 for 1" is making it sound like four tickets, but maybe it's not? Clarity would be much appreciated!

We love clowning, musicals and puppets. Thank you it’s our first time visiting and we are planning on a short visit this year and hopefully longer in the future. I am an activity coordinator in Edinburgh for some mental health paitents. I'm looking at taking some of them to fringe shows but I'm at a loss on what to pick. It can't be anything to raunchy or blue and I'm worried I might take them to something inappropriate by mistake as you can't always tell how a show is from the description. Does anyone have any recommendations? They are all adults, able to be a good audience members and won't heckle or anything. None of them are particularly big into theatre but some circus stuff would be good.

Hello!! Apologies if this has been asked before. I've luckily got a few days' time to visit the Fringe for the first time in the week commencing the 17th (I think that's week 2). Is 3 full days of seeing shows too short? Should I try to have 4 or even 5 full days?

I can't say I'm a habitual performing arts attendee, although I love and respect the artform very much and am sure I'll enjoy the fest a lot. I saw there'll be some exhibitions on and am interested to visit those too.

The only thing is I'm really big on the outdoors, and while in Scotland I'd like to visit some lochs and glens. More days at the Fringe eats into this time unfortunately.

I love Fringe shows, but I can get pretty anxious when there's a chance I might get called up on stage or singled out. I enjoy them a lot more when I know what to expect beforehand.

So I made a website where anyone can report whether a show has audience interaction, and whether it's optional or something you might be picked for. There's no login required.

Hello Guys! First time getting to experience the Fringe this year.

I’m there from 5-7th and looking for any tips.

Should I book tickets now or play it by ear for most things?
Should my schedule be fairly free incase I see something that interests me when I’m there?

I’m also a new comedian and wondering if there are open mics or if everything is solely for the people who’ve been prepping all year for this.

Any information on the festival as a whole or anything else you feel I should know before going would be greatly appreciated!

We are talking about flyers and making a schedule/plan for passing flyers. I am curious if that truly is the most cost effective and common type of advertising?

This subreddit is starting to become resales posts already.

Is there not a decent ticketing platform that we can point people to/I'll agree on, such as Twickets, who don't allow you to resell for more than it cost?

I feel like a tiny bit of organising might help here. Especially for taking payments and setting alerts, etc.
