Hi everyone!

I’m a solo developer working on Tower of Scherbenmark, a dark turn-based ASCII dungeon crawler roguelike set in a decaying fantasy world filled with monsters, traps, secrets and strange magic.

The game’s Steam demo is now live, and I’d love to hear what you think and don't forget to wishlist:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4972610/Tower_of_Scherbenmark/

The game features:

  • Turn-based dungeon crawling
  • Melee combat and magic
  • Procedurally generated runs
  • Loot, chests, traps, secrets, and mimics
  • Permanent Legacy Perks between runs
  • Shard Mutations that change how each run plays
  • A dark fantasy story told through journals and discoveries

I’m currently continuing to work on balancing, maybe additional mutations and perks, and improvements based on player feedback.

If you try the demo, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience, especially what you enjoyed, what felt confusing, and how the difficulty felt.

You can also join the Discord server here:

Thanks for taking a look!

Video Games A unique take on dungeon-crawling: miniquest, the tiny RPG

Hi everyone! I'm about to release my solo project, a blend of old-school Final Fantasy party-based combat, tile-based dungeon exploration, and arcade-style replayability. Here's the blurb:

A retro fantasy quest shrunk down to mini-size! Challenging turn-based combat meets the tight pacing of an arcade game in this minimalist RPG. Become the Chosen Ones and vanquish the Dark Lord, all in the span of a couple of hours. Then do it again! And again. And again... forever?

miniquest is a new take on dungeon-crawling, where each chapter of the story is a single-screen micro dungeon consisting of semi-randomized tiles. Park roguelike, part JRPG, part old-school crawler, part ???

Give it a look if you want a fresh take on the genre. Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4669800/miniquest

Chart your path carefully, each step counts!

Video Games This is my Dungeon Crawler about eating your enemies (and friends)

Hi, I'm making a Dark Fantasy Point and Click dungeon crawler where we need to get to the surface from a starving dungeon.

The main mechanic of my game is that you can eat everyone and I mean absolutely everyone, all enemies! You can even eat the boss if you want.

But you don't know what will happen to you until you try.

For example, you might simply restore various stats, increase your strength, gain hidden knowledge in the form of a spell, or you might get poisoned and become dumber.

My game also has companions. If you decide to take them, you get their abilities, think of it as extra skills. However, now you take responsibility for their food and you need to choose who gets to eat this time.

Your companions might not like your menu. Let's say they are against cannibalism, in that case they might leave or attack you.

Companions can also die of hunger, but you don't have to get rid of their bodies, you can carry them through the entire dungeon or eat them too, it's up to you.

The entire game is made from photographs and collages. It's a dark surreal adventure and I plan to release a demo in August. So, if you like this kind of thing, add the game to your wishlist and come play for free in August. I'll be carefully reading all feedback and try to make the game even better.

Here is some random gameplay footage. What do you think?

Board Games Build the Dungeon, crawl it and find the Dragon... Bag of Dungeon

Post image

Just finished an awesome session of Bag of Dungeon and wanted to share the love.

It is just so much fun to hack and slash your way through the tile layout. Building the map as you go feels like a proper old-school dungeon crawl.

The mechanics are simple but the tension is real, especially when the monster placement hits just right. It is definitely going to see the table a lot more often.

Have you guys played it?

Development My Gold Box-inspired combat demo now runs in the browser — build a party, fight until they die (free, 2 minutes to try)

Last time I posted, the barrier was downloading a stranger's EXE.

Fair. So now it runs in your browser:

https://lord-hoernchen.itch.io/ravenfall

It's a combat gauntlet built on old-school rules (OSE): roll your four heroes with visible 3d6, then fight an endless chain of tactical grid battles. control zones, morale checks, opportunity attacks, real dice rolls you can watch. Rest at the campfire between fights. When your party dies, that's the run.

Two things I genuinely want to know:

  1. Does combat feel like the old stuff, or off?

  2. How many fights did your party survive before the wipe?

I'll answer every comment.

Video Games I combined classic grid-based dungeon crawlers with CoD Zombies style Easter Egg hunting. What do you think of the vibe?

Hey everyone! 😊

I’m a solo developer working on "The Ossuary Clinic", a horror dungeon crawler built on classic grid-based movement.

I always loved the cryptic, mind-bending puzzles and hidden secrets from classic CoD Zombies maps, so I wanted to bring that exact 'Easter Egg hunt' feeling into an eerie, old-school dungeon crawler setting. There is no hand-holding here—your mind is the key to escaping the clinic.

Old-School Grid Movement: Inspired by games like Vaporum and Zanki Zero.Cryptic Easter Eggs Every item has a purpose (Some things are red harrings), and secrets are hidden everywhere.Uncover disturbing memories to piece together a brutal family tragedy story about serial killer surgeon. And later 30+ Achievements to hunt for in the full game.

A free demo is officially live on Itch io right now! I would absolutely love to hear your feedback on the atmosphere and puzzle difficulty

How to play:

W for moving forward, S from moving backwards, A and D for turning left or right.

I for inventory, Left mouse button to click on things, Right mouse button to enter camera viewing mode, Middle mouse button to enter zoomed in mode!

I need feedback on many things.. including the trailer, thanks a lot for taking time to check this out!

Things i am aware of now yet i published the demo on purpose regardless:

\-Tons of missing audio and video-Missing hitbox/collider for certain walls etc

• Missing CRT effect overlay

• Wrong placement for items and more

Here is the link for the demo:

Development Summer Bites — a free print & play dungeon crawler for the summer

Hey everyone

So I made a little game. Summer was coming, my brain was frying, and I was stuck deep in a couple of serious projects — so I put them down and made something fun instead. It's a solo (or 2-player) push-your-luck dungeon crawler with a dumb beach-cocktail theme. You roll dice, push your luck, and crawl your way to a boss fight (one of them is a karaoke kraken, don't ask). Whole thing fits on a print-and-play sheet — just need five dice and a pen.

I put a free version up so people can actually try it before anything else. Would honestly love to know what you think if you give it a go — it's the kind of thing you play on a hot afternoon when you don't want to set up a whole big game.

Link's in the comments if you're curious -->

Video Games [PC] Looking for a [Mid 90s] UI dungeon crawler

I'm trying to find a dungeon crawler from the mid 90s on PC. It had a UI and wasn't ASCII art. It was similar to the Net Hack games but since that was open source it could have been a wide range of versions. If it is Net Hack what version had a town to sell stuff?

Features:

A town to sell stuff (like diablo)

Unidentified loot (like diablo)

Video Games Any games with class advancement?

I've played etrian odyssey, labyrith of refrain, gridlock, and recently have started playing the Mary Shelter games. I was wondering if there were any other first-person dungeon crawlers with class advancement?

For example, a squire->knight or something. 😅

It's pretty hard to find a complete list of games for this genre. Most lists always have a few games missing. The only other crawlers-like I played are the Lighting Warrior Raidy remakes. lmao...

Usually DRPGs focus on the gameplay side of things, so I was wondering which ones also have a good story to boot? Bonus points if it has an anime aesthetic

My sci-fi game called Daisy Flies to the Moon in on the Steam Summer Sale. It's a solo-dev project and I did the dungeon crawling similar to the old pixel art ones like Eye of the Beholder, except mine has turn-based combat.

Hello,
Me and a buddy been working for the last 4 months on a demo for our game and are currently trying to get some feedback, it's a first-person action RPG focused on tight, handcrafted experiences rather than an open world., similar to the skyrim dungeons I think it's the best comparison atm.
Currently we're waiting on the steam demo while we research if there's a initial exposure there when you first upload it. I'll leave an early trailer as well.
We would appreciate a lot any feedback on the gameplay and any words of wisdom for social media marketing is valued a lot. Thank you and hope to hear from you :D
