Game Changer The latest episode of Game Changer was good, but pretty hurtful

Don't get me wrong, the premise of Count the Rice was brilliant and the contestants are all great performers. However, I was shocked that there was so many cameos from other Dropout folk but they didn't find anything for Brennan. It felt really cliquey, like they didn't want to include him in the fun. Brennan has given so much for Dropout and I've spent so much time with him that I consider him a dear friend and it hurts that they'd leave him on the outside looking in. I can't be the only one?????????????

Game Changer Count the Rice is giving me SO much enjoyment playing along

This season I've been playing along with every game changer episode and this episode has by far been the best experience. Not that the bar has been that high (pissing off lawyers, trying to follow ridiculous bylaws, working the graveyard shift, and losing in court has been rough) but it's been over a week and I'm STILL having a blast. As soon as I saw the title, I bought a 10 lb bag of rice, dumped it onto my apartment floor, and I've been counting the grains ever since. What an amazing premise!!! I'm glad to see that this season has really turned around, and I hope that the next one is just as beneficial for my well-being.

Dimension 20 Help - All my players listen to this show

I have never listened to a second of D20 and never will (will reverse engineer the reason for this hard stance from the comments below).

However, I am GM-ing for the first time and, while it’s going great, I have realised that nearly all of my players are avid listeners to D20. It started innocently but now actions are being classified as ”so Allie”. What can I do to combat this? Does anyone know how to ban theatre groups for children? What subtle Dimension20-influence do I have to be on guard for?

Additional context: We are not a polycule but happy to change that if thats on a page of the DMG I haven’t read.

Meta Grant O'Brien "It's all love"

Just watched Grant's "It's all love" set. This has to be the single best piece of comedy on Dropout and most entertaining content maybe only matched by D20's On a Bus. Truly a revelation and a milestone in the history of stand-up.

Game Changer Support Dropout with Tinder Platinum?

IAC is the parent company of Match Group, which owns Tinder. So I am thinking of getting Tinder Platinum so I can support my favourite American and his sadistic little Gameshow while also having a better chance to find Grant.

Before I get into it, I’ve been having a really tough time since Phoebe Bridgers started dating Bo Burnham. I know that I’m already operating at an emotionally heightened state but I also don’t think I’m being insane.

I read recently that Vic was married to a man and I honestly had a flashback to watching the second plane hit the towers. The first was (obviously) Phoebe and Bo, which was already just so unreal. But the idea of a second plane, a second Icon - it’s unfathomable.

My wife thinks I’m being unreasonable but honestly, I’m 43 and in the best shape of my life. Am I alone in this?

Other Shows Issues with Animorphs on Dropout

I was watching Dropout shows, and found that on two separate occasions, players have platformed the middle grade book series Animorphs, which was presented by the shows as if it were a masterwork of literature.

The first of these instances was on Game Changer 'One Year Later', wherein Vehicular Michelin interprets the prompt of 'show up in the coolest costume' by dressing as a squid Animorph. There is a reference to the cover art of the 1999 Animorphs book 'The Exposed', stating that narrator Rachel transforms into a giant squid to save her friend. Vic's apparent 'transformation' from a they/she to a squid in the Game Changer episode, is deeply flawed, and there is no evidence at all to demonstrate the lasting cultural impact people claim the Animorphs franchise has.

The second instance was in Um, Actually Season 11, wherein Mr. Nwadiwe promotes Animorphs as a 'major' franchise through consistent trivia questions for the players. An Animorphs question occurred almost every episode, yet the players almost never got them right. This is a problem. In fact, the authors of Animorphs, "K.A. Applegate," was actually a pen name for married couple Katherine Applegate and Michael Grant. Claiming work from a couple in a heteronormative relationship as 'normal' and 'iconic' causes harm to Dropout's queer polyamorous viewers.

These claims not only promote useless and potentially harmful literature, but cause people to spend money they may not have on irrelevant middle grades books instead of real literature. This is especially concerning given Dropout's young audience, who are more prone to believing false claims when told to them by their favorite comics.

Haha, I'm just saying, ladies (and fellas! And enby pals!), with that long hair? Unf. I want him to fuck me up the ass and shoot hot sticky ropes inside me.

Just look at this old picture of him in the college humor days. Doesnt he look like a fucking nerdy dukie duke geeber? Now he's fuckable and suckable. Yummy.

Anyway, sorry, hehe, just being cheeky and honest!

Game Changer Who is Ashenico?

I hear Sam reference Ashenico all the time but we never see this person. Usually just some unnamed PA like the girl who looks like Katie Marovich or the guy who looks like Paul Robalino 's younger brother shows up though. Will we ever see Ashenico?

Game Changer Is Sam Reich a transphobic boss?

I couldn’t help but notice that Geovahni got his pronouns messed up in her most recent game changer appearance. It felt violent and made me feel like Dropout is potentially an unsafe space for trans actors like himself.

Should this season’s finale of Game Changer have Sam talk to a therapist specializing in gender dysphoria?

Other Shows I don’t like when women are on television?

There was a trans woman on the newest episode of dropout and it made me very upset. It’s been almost a calendar year since Token Transgender Cast Member sephie valentine was on my screen and I thought that I was safe? But then they had this other trann-… influencer on the show and I couldn’t help but notice she looked a little transgender with it? I know we’re all allegedly woke now but honestly I thought I had more time before I had to see another one. Do you guys think I should obfuscate my unexamined transmisogyny with the moral outrage over the fact that her estranged father is a blackpilled fascist that bought an election, or my disgust at dropout casting nepo babies?

Game Changer This season of Game Changer is too much Game, not enough Changer.

I feel like I might get downvoted for saying this… but everything this season feels just way too gamed out. Like they focused so much on the game design itself that they forgot to make it… funny?

Every episode feels like a bunch of mini games in a trenchcoat, rather than just taking a simple premise to its logical extreme. This is best exemplified by the most recent episode, Count The Rice, which honestly just felt like an excuse to shove in a bunch of games that they couldn’t think where else to use them.

But even the best episodes so far this season feel similar, like they felt obligated to include a bunch of props and set pieces not because they added to the game but because it’s what they think we “expect” from Game Changer.

Take Kangaroo Court, probably my favorite episode of the season, mostly because it actually has a fairly simple hook and any episode featuring Brennan, Vic, and Aabria is going to be funny. In the BTS Ryan Creamer mentions his original pitch was to just do one minigame and then spend the whole episode litigating it… and honestly, I think that would have been better! Imagine if they got to call witnesses, present evidence, cross examine each other, all over the minutiae of one fairly basic mini game.

But instead they felt like they needed to add more because “that would be too simple for a full episode.”

And it works fine as is, like I said it’s still maybe my favorite of the season (its neck and neck with Don’t Wake Standards & Practices), but I feel like leaning into the simplicity and the minutiae might have been better.

Some of the best episodes are deceptively simple: Sam Says, Yes or No, the OG Make Some Noise.

Hell even the OG Rulette was perfect in its simplicity… Rulette 2 just way overdid it with the Golden Rule, Australia mode, giving Sam and Paul rules… it was fun in a chaotic sort of way but it really missed that little spark of joy that made the original such a classic.

Maybe I’m just being a grump. I dunno. I am at least happy that props and set dec are getting a lot of work this season, but I don’t think I can do another episode that’s just a bunch of thinly tied together mini games.

Paul F Tompkins was right. Sam is a weird little mini game freak.
